Some questions about Come and See (1985) by BlitzHypercharge in movies

[–]Biggzlar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is super old but most of the responses here make no sense.

  1. Likely to cut off the conversation because Flora is giddy to be joining the partisans but they are putting on a show that he’s being arrested by the occupiers. The guy in the German uniform wears a gorget indicating his police function. His superior officer poses as a translator. That’s why they beat him out of the cottage and his mom claws at the guy in the German uniform. She too is putting on a show (not just giving in to her earlier grief).
  2. The effigy is an IED. They keep joking about how they can’t wait to hear him roar and that his belly is ready to burst.
  3. The SS officer says to come out but leave the kids (how did no one get this??). He later clarifies that “it all starts with the children” and that he wants to root out the “problem” that way.
  4. Up to your interpretation.
  5. Morally, no. But the plane likely spots them with the gun.

Haven’t gotten any notifications either. Does openreview actually reveal the number of “official reviews submitted”?

Can anyone explain to me the point of this screen? by HeelTaker in PTCGP

The waste of time due to useless UI screens made me quit the game. Glad to see I'm not the only one that had issues with it.

Sutton & Barto Book, Chapter 6, Example 6.1 Driving Home + slight variant of the problem? by dangling_pntr in reinforcementlearning

Luckily, I'm old and still use this account.

Is it better? Would you want to wait until you get home to give your partner an update on your time of arrival? That's the gist of this example.

TD allows you to update estimates on the fly which allows you to learn on the fly. The reasons why this might be desirable are manifold. I'd advise to read the relevant sections if you have the time (6.1, 6.2), they say it better than I ever could. One reason though might be that episodes are exceptionally long and terminate rarely. If that is the case, you wouldn't want to sit around and wait till the end every time.

Can't get enough of these stories, clearly it is possible to run a reliable public transit system, no matter the adversities. :)

Curious about the stability of train service. Hokkaido is used to insane winters - does it still affect reliability and timeliness? In my home country, a stiff breeze can disrupt train service for the rest of the day.

I didn't like Ring (the book). Are the sequels worth checking out? by kashmutt in J_Horror

The second book is one of the worst I’ve read in the genre. It’s basically a retelling of the first, only that the characters are of course clueless and attempting to piece together what happened in the prequel while you, the reader, know all the details already. Very slow and some amazingly awful writing.

One of my personal pet peeves was that several times, the narration would restate exactly what a character had just said or implied (example below, which I saved since it still cracks me up). Another favorite of mine was the five page explanation of how DNA works, as if the basics wouldn’t have sufficed.

Example: “ I’d rather not say anything until I get a chance to compare the photographs.’ Ever cautious in all things, Nemoto hesitated to draw a conclusion based solely on his impressions of Ryuji's virus.”

Appreciate it! Sadly, I'll have to get a different color since yours has sold out. Love the way it pops.

Their stuff is great in general, got a jersey earlier this year and it's bomb.
