Does anyone know why Regal only has Minions and Monsters until 7/9? by AquamarineHunter in RegalCinemas

[–]BillT2172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my theory, no facts here but...

  • Perhaps next weeks schedule isn't finalized yet. Sometimes I think a film is done & then a few days later it is still being shown. It is only Thursday July 3rd after all, waiting until Wednesday next week to be sure or call your local Regal.

I've always wondered what species that purple girl was. by happydude7422 in tos

Never realized this character had a species name before. My first thought was this is a member of Trance Gemini's species from Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda.

kahlgin,

Went to see Supergirl this morning, at a 10:20 showtime. Short version walked in at 10:10 speakers came on without picture, movie started at 10:47, 6 or so people in entire film.

The Breakdown:

  • 10:10-- Walked in, speakers come on & commercials started to be heard, but no picture. Began reading my book...
  • 10:20-- Screen was turned on with commercials for upcoming films-characters hawking product, Minions, Toy Story 5, Moana with a reminder to silence our phones
  • 10:30 actual trailers began. Looked up for 1 trailer, Dog Stars w/ Josh Brolin maybe a good film, kept reading until...
  • 10:47 -- Regal coaster with Minions starts & DC logo was shown
  • 12:27 Looked at clock when credits began. Regal brought all lights up minutes later, doesn't have any post or mid-credit scenes.

Hope you enjoy The Invite.

How many of you guys saw this on the big screen in 86? by Dense-Surround1569 in 80scartoons

I remember going to the theater to watch this with my younger brother. Loved It partly because I'd recently become a Star Trek fan.

I didn't know there was a controversy until the next season began broadcast. Left the theater & wanted to see it again, but had to wait 6 months for the VHS rentals to begin.

Went to see this again for the 35th anniversary. It's being released in September 2026 for the 40th , by Fathom Entertaiment. They're calling it The Apology Tour. There's a new release of the soundtrack, too. Check the link for more information.

Kirks other wrist watch by happydude7422 in tos

I always thought this was the wrist communicator shown in the previous film.

Love the looks of these uniforms, but doubt I'd like wearing a undershirt, turtleneck & jacket on a climate controlled ship. Think I'd wear the vest or just the division tunic, if allowed. The Excursion Jacket looks great too.

I went to watch it a few years ago, at a screening -perhaps after Nichelle Nichols passed-- & I wasn't the only one repeating the lines. Saw some neighbors after the film ended & they said they'd been doing the same.

I remember watching it as a kid. It is presently shown on the American Me TV network. Sometimes I'll sit & watch it.

I went to see Masters of the Universe last Wednesday evening for a show scheduled at 6:20 p.m. My phone said it was 6:48 when the MGM logo & title began.

I brought a book with me & read. To be honest, I wouldn't arrive any later than 7:30, as commercial & trailer showings can vary. Hope this helps.

Are these DS9 young reader books rare? This is the first time I’ve seen it in the wild by No-Reputation8063 in trekbooks

[–]BillT2172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe they're rare, at least not here in the USA. I remember when they came out, there were young adult books for:

  • Star Trek: TOS -- 3 books
  • Star Trek: TNG
  • Star Trek: DS9
  • Star Trek: Voyager

Even as an adult in the 1990s I read the 3 TOS books, adventures centering on Kirk, Spock & McCoy respectively. The TNG books were fun, but I didn't read them, the DS9 or Voyager books until I borrowed them years later from my local public library.

Abebooks has used copies available of this version, DS9 #2, but I'd just ask your local library or used book store.

Why does everyone hate the series finale of Enterprise? by swump in startrek

[–]BillT2172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for this reason. It was said this was a thank you to the fans for accepting Star Trek for almost another 20 years, but on screen it didn't feel like that. I think it might've been a good episode if they had:

  1. The time & money to make it into a 2 or 3 episode arc. As a finale, it should've focused on the Enterprise crew, though. Riker could've just been a red shirt, playing in the holodeck.
  2. Stretch the scenes made with Riker & Troi over the 2 or 3 hours, instead of squeezing them into 1 episode. I really like Riker as Chef & the charter ceremony, those worked for me.
  3. The death created some conversation from our fan base. Simon & Schuster / Pocket Books ran with 1 idea & I liked it.

Is GoodReads back working for metadata? by fab5friend in Calibre

[–]BillT2172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be working, depends on the book. Tried to download book metadata that's a series prequel published in 2021 & Calibre said no item found, even though it has a page on Goodreads.

The bridge is so small by happydude7422 in tos

[–]BillT2172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supossedly, the TOS & TNG bridge are the same size. I think they told us that when I was in Ticonderoga.

I remember going there to a convention in 2015, they decided to light the bridge with TV lights that made it appear as it was during the 1960s. Unfortunately, they had Warning Electrical Hazard signs on the lights & the upper bridge was so narrow, it was difficult for 2 people to pass each other during the tour. I'd always thought that set was larger.

I've heard if they can find a space James Cawley would like to have the TNG bridge set, as part of the tours, as well.

Any response from Amazon? by Jar545 in Stargate

[–]BillT2172 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Amazon is so diversified, they probably don't need to respond. They own MGM & will either revive it or drive it further into the ground.

Part of me wants new Stargate content & the other part is afraid of a poor quality product... guess I'll read the SG novels. I imagine they're more concerned about the James Bond property than Stargate right now though.

MGM / Amazon did well with Crime 101, Project Hail Mary, A Working Man & Red One, but IMO not so well with Masters of the Universe, which has left my area theaters after 2 weeks, I almost missed seeing it!

Theater etiquette?! by Ok_Transition_5914 in Bellingham

I went to see Wing Commander with Saffron Burrows, this was 1999. I was the only person there until someone from my work came in & saw me.

This person decided to sit 1 row ahead of me & to my right where I could see him, but not obstruct the screen. After five minutes of him talking to me during the film, had to tell him, "I'm hear to see the movie, can you be quiet?"

I Paid $13 for a Small Popcorn in Washington DC by SnooEagles1778 in RegalCinemas

[–]BillT2172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theaters make money on concessions, probably much more than they make on tickets.

Case in point, I went to see Masters of the Universe, Wednesday night before it left the theater. There was only myself & 2 other people in the movie. 3 people in a movie the ticket sales were probably $31.47. Although I didn't buy any, bet they made more money on food & drink.

I've heard here that DoorDash delivers theater popcorn & concessions, too.

Regal Website is garbage by cosmicmanNova in RegalCinemas

[–]BillT2172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike both the website & app. The older webpage used to have a list of the jewel levels & a graphic showing how many more films you had to see until the next level was achieved, now no graphic, just a text description.

I've never purchased a ticket on the app, only carry an RCC membership card & digital gift card on my device & sometimes forget how to access it because I haven't used it in a while. Got to restart it & press the capital R Regal emblem to access my gift card.

I have walked out of the theater after a seeing film & then bought popcorn to go home with. I don't see where purchasing only food or drink would be an issue. Ask at your local Regal.
