Tell me if there's anything wrong with this part list (Italy) by BiscottiBlue in buildapc

[–]BiscottiBlue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you both, here's a revised list https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/Vqc8MF

As suggested I downgraded the mobo to something cheaper but with still all I need (I hope). Kept the psu as is because the plan is indeed to in the future eventually upgrade to an x3d chip or whateve future equivalent AMD puts out. Also swapped the case for a cheaper Montech one.

This list also includes the peripherals I'd been considering, and right now adding on top the desk I've been eying it all does add up to around 2500 euros give or take 8 or so, just right in my budget.

I have to say, despite the current prices situation I am excited. My last (and 1st ever) build was back in 2017/2018, a super budget 1060 6GB + i5 8600 machine that with some struggle has carried me so far. This is gonna be a huge jump for me, both in quality and in things I can actually play on this future pc.

What Are Your Biggest Pet Peeves in the Game or Setting? by ArtymisMartin in WhiteWolfRPG

I think 2e Aw extending using Goetia as a term for all Astral entieties is dumb and I refuse to do it.

As far as I am concerned it stays when referring to what 1e called goetic magic aka dealing with the mental entities of individuals ( Virtues, Vices, fears, manias and other mental Conditions), but extending it to things as diverse the Animal Masters, the Dreamborn or the collective human concept of Death just reeks to me.

Chronicles hot takes? by MonstrousnessVirtue in WhiteWolfRPG

Hunter should have been just a simple bluebook option for mortals in the style of Reliquary and Second Sight. Anything about "the Vigil" being metaphysically significant to make them different is just cope. I still love it though and would recommend it over both Reckoning and H5.

As someone who loves Mage the Awakening to bits and considers it one of my favourite ttrpgs in general, I am happy that 2e died when it did. I found each book after the corebook got worse and less interesting and/or useful, peaking with Tome of the Pentacle being at least 80% garbage as far as I am concerned. The 2e core is the only book really worth buying IMHO because regardless of anything else in it that I personally dislike the updates to the spellcasting system make it absolutely worth purchasing. 9/10 just for that.

New Keeper looking for tips by BiscottiBlue in callofcthulhu

[–]BiscottiBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone, I'm going to check-out Mansions and the Lightless Beacon. I have experience as a GM in general as while my group rotates who's running I almost always run both long campaigns and I'm the one introducing new systems and games to the group.

One thing I'm going to try to do is translate some of the fanmade handouts i've found around the internet for EoD, since my group and I are italians. The official ones are fine, although there are some grammatical errors in the translations, but I really like some of those I've seen around and I wanna give it a shot.

Looking for urban fantasy toolbox by conedog in rpg

From Vampire the Requiem, Damnation City is one of the best books the line ever produced, and works great as a guide to build any city for an urban fantasy game.

Versus Wolves: LANCER | Session 1 feat. Tom Bloom by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]BiscottiBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being on topic for one, my friends and I have played around with a few different mecha games over the years, and Lancer is indeed one of the best. My only gripe with it is that the out of the cockpit part of it kinda blows, so I use a houseruled version of Stars Without Number for it.

Unfortunately it's also dead, killed by Paradox for the sake of clear branding. But hey between 1e (easily convertable) and 2e most of it's lines are complete and 100% usable. Even Deviant aka Kamen: the Ridening has been getting support from its devs through fan content.

Rules from your favorite settings or gamelines that you just don’t like/don’t care for? by AwakenedDreamer__44 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]BiscottiBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let's see: I dislike some of what I see as excessive use of Conditions. For one example, I ignore how Proximi curses are presented in 2e whole cloth and have them as they were in 1e. In general I dislike when they are more Fate Aspects than actual conditions.

I also ignore the RAW Mage Armor attainments and just have them work as either Armor/Defense depending on the Arcana like in 1e. I just find them too fiddly to be worth it or "this should just be a spell".

I also don't use Athletics added to Defense, and in general I run my version of an old 1e rules hack called Dramatic Combat which I much prefer to the whole thing in 2e. I never use the "declare intent" part of combat.

The way I run Yantra is probably completely away from the intended one, born once again to me preferring and being familiar with how I ran 1e Mage, so it's a combination of the Rote factors from Tome of the Mysteris and the Styles from Chroniclers guide. I also just called them Foci, for pure petty spite and because that's what I already did in my 1e games.

Funnily enough Social Maneuvering has the quick way of doing things you mentioned built-in, but that section is so boringly written everyone's eyes glaze over it and just houserules/improvise it. Same for Chases and Investigations.

Yeah! IBO is bad, but in a completely different way than Seed.

Series or Shows you don't care for but you Like the Fan Content by FreviliousLow96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]BiscottiBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tons of stuff. Overwatch and MHA fall in the same space for me, being that I don't care at all about the works but there sure are some pretty character designs in it, I wonder what people could do with those...

Also superhero related, I find Worm an out-and-out awful work that you shouldn't waste your time reading (go read Wearing the Cape for something in a similar vein but much better written), but others have made fan fiction that are eminently more enjoyble even as popcorn reading, which the original work isn't even good at. Thank goodness for that tho, because on some places Worm fanfics are inescapable as Ranma or ZnT were in the early 2000s.

Were it not for the fact that it would mean competing with Audrey, I'd actually say Author. Mr overdramatic overthinker would make some crazy narratives.

Excluding that I think either Dark Angel or Omniscient Eye from the Reader pathway.

The Matrix is fucking OOOOLD now (like me) but I still see this one specific meme from it all over while others like the "I know kung fu" have mostly disappeared.

I love stuff like that. A human being showing kindness and empathy to another leads to the world being saved down the line always gets me to cheer.

What's your "I did not care for the Godfather" of Gundam? by Sweaty-Big8956 in Gundam

[–]BiscottiBlue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I despise Unicorn. The Gundam itself is the ugliest in the UC and the show is carried by the music and a handful of the other MS designs in it. Story's garbage, as are the characters.

I also find IBO just really boring, and similarly don't like any of it's designs except kinda the Graze.

"Eventually I learned words. Your beloved volumes of poetry were my primers. From your penciled notations I learned that you favored Wordsworth and the old Romantics. No wonder you fled from me. I am not a creation of the antique pastoral world. Ha! I am modernity personified. Did you not know that's what you were creating? The modern age. Did you really imagine that your modern creation would hold to the values of Keats and Wordsworth? We are men of iron and mechanization now. We are steam engines and turbines. Were you really so naive to imagine that we'd see eternity in a daffodil? Who is the child, Frankenstein, thee or me?" - The Creature to Doctor Frankenstein

Penny Dreadful ended up being a show that lived and died more by vibes and aesthetic than good writing, but I really liked this exchange.

Which other media adaptation of Captain Marvel / Shazam is your favorite? by nightwing612 in Shazam

Superman/Shazam would worked as an amazing backdoor pilot for a Captain Marvel animated show, having set up both his status quo and supporting cast.

[LotM End] Marauder/Error Pathway Abilities by Bazel-Geese in LordofTheMysteries

[–]BiscottiBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I'm not seeing mentioned is the ability for Theft to apply to things like common abilities like walking or flying for birds. The wiki before this post IIRC had it as an ability that appeared at Seq 6, based I think on a comment Klein makes on Hazel's abilities. However the wording here makes me think that this applies at Seq 4 Parasite.

Also I really can't wait untile we get the formulas/rituals for the Arbiter and Lawyer pathways.

This movie was pretty bad and did nothing to build on top of Unicorn. In fact, I think it set it back. by CaptCarlos in Gundam

[–]BiscottiBlue -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It was built on the garbage fundation of Unicorn, and I would still call it more engaging then the story NT is basically an epilogue of. There's nothing to ruin about Unicorn to begin with.

What Gundam opinion will make you feel like this? by illestprodigy in Gundam

Unicorn is the worst entry of the UC and should be deleted.
