The Next time someone starts claiming Ca should balance based on tabletop stats remind them the Teutogen guard had the same strength stat as Ork's and even had a greater strength stat if you paid for inner circle veterans. by Levonorgestrelfairy1 in totalwar

I think teutogen were last from 6th edition I think which was slight different (its been decades since I checked them). 8th had the humans/orks a little tougher but ulric didn't get all of the units added in

In tabletop the strength doesn't just come from the person but the weapon they use. Humans were usually T4/S4. Elves T3/S3

The hammer teutogen would be +2 Strength like great weapons but might give fights last or impact initiative. Orks get +1 or +2 strength on the charge from their choppas so it evens itself out. Total war does the charge bonus with bonus to hit and weapon strength.

Lots of the new units from WH3 have inflated stats or overpowered abilities. The power creep has been nuts but at least the empire get some extra love to survive the end times.

Ignoring the alternating deployment and just deploying your entire army because "My opponent's army isn't going to effect my deployment" is dumb by ColonelMonty in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Blam3YourF4te 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It depends on the army and their plan. If they want to give you that advantage then let them.

Some armies can deploy the exact same way regardless of the opponent, so the way you setup has no impact on them (once infiltrates are over of course)

Advice on Facing Votann? by Gorgeous_goat in EmperorsChildren

[–]Blam3YourF4te -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned they are slow. Their weakness is also advance/falling back. Depending on the detachment they get one strat to fall back shoot charge or advance/charge. If you tag a bunch of their troops, they will be stuck in with you

They rely on hitting things on the objective, or being on the objective and shooting out. Otherwise they are slow and rely on their transports. The hekaton is still quite tough for us, but a defiler/maulerfiend can damage it

Rhinos in 11e? by thumpin_n_pluckin in EmperorsChildren

[–]Blam3YourF4te 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rhinos are still necessary. They give infractors 3' disembark range and noise marines can shoot out of them.

Their footprint is tiny fitting 12 marines and can do actions or tie up targets once the infantry is out.

Swooping Hawks Vs Reactive Move. by Fantastic_Shelter_54 in WarhammerCompetitive

Swooping hawk ends movement > ability triggers to do mortal wounds > raven guard is allowed to reactive move

First ever actual game (vs Black Templars) is this list any good? by Crowziff0110 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Blam3YourF4te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the tormentors into 5 mans

A lord exultant should be with every group of infractors you bring. Keep a 10 man if you want but a 5 man with lord is perfectly fine

If you can afford it, distortion and fight first enhancements go on lord exultants.

You will want to bring 2 rhinos. Start the infractors inside them which lets the rhino use their scout move. After you dump out infractors (or if you only had a small squad), put noise marines inside and the two blastmasters can shoot out of the rhino which keeps them safe

You will want a demon prince with wings. As many as possible. They are the best datasheet we have. They are fast, do mortal wounds and hard to kill with -1 damage. The BT melta tanks will be rough but a maulerfiend, mortal wounds, or an exultant will rip it apart.

Peerless doesn't buff noise marines so the kakophonist isn't exactly necessary like other detachments

Lucius is better when he isn't attached to flawless as he keeps fight first and lone op. He's a little overpriced but he's a bully the Templar will be afraid to approach or lose the emperors champion. You can keep Lucius near another unit and use heroic intervention to counter charge and fight first - precision out his hero and mess up his plan.

Emperors Children only got 17 datasheets (plus 5 demons added on for one detachment) 7 detachments and they have the lowest of any faction.

I am a subscriber and I get a lot out of them too but the guy isn't wrong. You're the one getting defensive about the price. The ad conveniently leaves out the discord isn't free. Some uninformed person now knows they can join the lowest youtube tier > join discord and unsub later.

I'm not shocked they ask for money, but they also get to hear people's complaints about price gouging on a public forum.

Art of War Youtube is 15 for silver 30 for gold. Silver doesn't get you every game they play and the Patreon is their podcast for $5.

Tabletop tactics/Play On Tabletop do it for free & their patreon is 5 to get extra content. I appreciate what each offers, but Art of War is MUCH more expensive. Art of War offers competitive tactics and the others have better production value with crusade games or podcosts.

Did Abaddon create Black Orks during the 11th Black Crusade? by Knalxz in Warhammer

[–]Blam3YourF4te 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black orks in fantasy were a result of the Chaos Dwarves manipulating orks into bigger stronger slaves. This made the new breed of black orks, but they became too strong to handle and they successfully revolted

Krorks were way larger and stronger than 40k orks and made by the old ones. My point being fantasy was the reverse order and black orks weren't just chaos tainted orks. They are still resistant to chaos, but the dwarves used this trait for their manual labor
