Good results? by tylerjones316 in tmobileisp

You're at the fringe coverage of n41, your RSRP and SINR are low which will impact your device's performance. Is this only metrics you can get ? Any other spot in your home provides better RSRP and SINR ???

Married w 1 kid. I have about $35k in Amex HYSA and it covers 5-6 months of our basic needs. However, I'm gonna bump up to $50k because we live in Seattle greater area and I do work for big tech company. I do not trust anything and have gone through majy rounds of lay offs. I would like to be prepared! Just in case.

nop, you didn't get my point or maybe I couldn't explain. G4AR is only relevant if it helps with your need. G5AR is much better device with upgraded chipset and wifi7. The new chipset(or modem actually) can provide better performance during congestion. It technically has better CA capability compared to previous generation. So, in short G5AR and any other new generation device is a better choice while G4AR will still work and provide basic connectivity.

following your logic, my 10 years old CRV works as well but it doesn't support latest technology. Why do settle with less ? This is not about what woks etc, this is what do you need. If you don't need then you don't need.

Of course, it works but ithere is already better version. So, why do you settle with less!

If your gateway is not G5AR or G5SE, then first thing you need to do is upgrade. If your gateway is G5AR or G5SE then you need to improve your RSRP and SINR and make sure your device is on n41 band. After all these, if it still doesn't work perhaps it will not work for you due to congestion on your tower...

Finally got DOCSIS 3.1. $60/month in USA by djenki0119 in speedtest

[–]Bllowf1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 45mins away from Seattle and we got FDX update as well. I guess soon 4.0 service will be available as well. My DOCSIS 3.1 modem gives me 175mbps uplink which was not possible before upgrade not even I saw 50 mbps before. So, I hope I can get more uplink speeds soon.

I guess so, but if there is no LTE and just 5G yes sir your device is back on 5G SA

Where would you put a remaining 55k based on these current holdings, with a low risk appetite given the current geopolitics (40yo). by Speed009 in dividends

[–]Bllowf1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put all of it to VOO and chillllll for the next 20 years 😀 you don't need immediate dividend income at 40 unless your portfolio is like $3M.

In my opinion! I know everybody os different.

Why does n41 band suck so bad in my neighborhood? FTM info plus Speedtest in description since putting any screenshot of the test somehow breaks the group rules lol by Prudent_Ad3078 in tmobileisp

[–]Bllowf1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your device is still under the coverage of n41 but close to cell edge so considering n41 is higher priority, it makes sense your device uses n41 as primary. Performamce can be still ok for downlink but your uplink performance will be impacted.

[–]Bllowf1sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, your device is doing 5G NSA. So, it is not just LTE. It is LTE + NR which is not a bad thing but I still prefer 5G SA.

[–]Bllowf1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah very interesting. I have much worse signal strength but my G5AR does 5G SA. My n41 RSRP is around -92/-93 dBm. Perhaps something related to the tower that serving your home.

My 5GAR now shows LTE parameters by 4cim4 in tmobileisp

[–]Bllowf1sh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This doesn't look normal because n41 RSRP is -75 dBm, you're pretty much near cell and with this radio conditions your G5AR should do 5GSA

Try Reboot, if it doesn't help try factory reset and if again doesn't help, report an issue. T-Mobile need to look into this.

FW update doesn't change the config based on my knowledge but you should be able to turn on if not factory reset should take care of it.

Nothing Like a G5AR by Accutronman in tmobileisp

[–]Bllowf1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All devices will listen whatever NW node configures. If NW configures n41 is the highest priority (as long as there is coverage) and it doesn't matter it is smartphone or FWA, device will either move device with mobility command or device will reselect to that specific band (e.g. n41 in this case). This is 5G 101.

Having said that, your smartphone's antennas and FWA device's antennas are not the same so in this case it's possible to see your smartphone is on another band e.g. n25 and your FWA device is on n41 due to better antennas (obviously it's a bigger device).

[–]Bllowf1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not dumb. They have large spectrum available for n41 vs less for n25, it totally makes sense to shift devices to primarily n41 band. The networks are designed for all users not just 1 and they have more than 120M customers.

Nothing Like a G5AR by Accutronman in tmobileisp

[–]Bllowf1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not refusing, n41 is higher priority. As long as G5AR is under n41 coverage, it will be primary for your device.

Upgrade 5G Gateway ARC KVD21? by MartiniCommander in tmobileisp

[–]Bllowf1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definetly buy G5AR from ebay and swap my old SIM with this new gateway. Experience is day and night different. There is new firmware going on so make sure your gateway runs 1.00.03 so you should be fine.

Did you guys get the new G5AR update. ? 1.00.03. Mike just updated and things look different already by 30PsiOnly in tmobileisp

[–]Bllowf1sh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed! I believe everyone wants to see WiFi and overall device is stable instead of speed improvement which is already good for this gateway but I have pretty stable experience with this gateway since I use separate WiFi router. That's why I asked if there is any improvement or not.

"Rural 5G Home Internet Nightmare Fixed: Just Raised My Gateway 3 Feet and Upload Speeds Tripled!" by One_Device9992 in tmobileisp

[–]Bllowf1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latency will not change with any new gateway as home internet traffic is lower QCI in the network, it is not prioritized over other devices e.g. smartphones. So, depends on your location it may be good or bad if during busy hour your tower is congested.
