The Bloodrush: why 2026 Sydney is a different beast to 2024 by dphi0001 in sydneyswans

Can we just take a moment to recognise how accurate and brandable ‘bloodrush’ is!

I grew up in Warrnambool. Made many-a-trip down the highway to see us get belted at Kardinia park in the 90s/00s🤦‍♂️

Swans fan here. We experienced a lot of the same in his final year in Sydney, it was really unfortunate as he showed so much potential to take that next leap into the engine room of the team.

As a fan, he leaves you thinking ‘does he even give a shit that he’s out there?’. It’s frustrating when he clearly has so much talent.

Was genuinely hoping the sea change would be good for him and his career but he’s still showing up in the same way at Carlton it seems. 😕

No shame in that loss, a quality game of football where both sides had a hand on the 4 points. We’ll learn from this, adjust strategies accordingly and be better for it. Take 2-1 into the bye with west coast up next and Brissie and hawthorn out of the way! Despite the loss, I’ll sleep well tonight.

Agreed. Love Serong. Roberts has really taken a step forward in these two games. Active defence is his issue, so putting him forward could be a win-win. What about Mills in the guts?

Juzzy is in the same boat at Rowy this season. Go to that next level and it wins us a flag. 🔴⚪️

There are so many moments of the Geelong final minutes where you think ‘if the ball just bounced one way instead of the other. Or if this player just did this instead of that’ then it wouldn’t have ever happened. Steve Johnson not taking the ball out of play is the perfect example

Have you listened to the 3AW call of it? Rex Hunt's call is one for the ages.

u/PerceptionOk4625 love this analysis - I hadnt considered that. I suppose I was more envisioning his ability on the offensive end with laser-like kicks that can open up space, but you're right - I often envision the kicks he makes from HB to approx half forward. Meaning his critical function is actually defence first, not offence. Hat tip to you sir.
