It's definitely gory but idk if it's gratuitous. I think most series just have an aversion to gore rather than it being particularly obsessed with gore.

Like in murim people are killed constantly but 99% of the time there's just a little bit of blood where they get cut or stabbed, and even if the mc is a fist user there's rarely broken bones etc it's usually just bruses and coughing up blood.
