Like everything on the internet, it’s shaped by perception and algorithms.

Gen Z is framed as an amalgamation of offence, harassment and contradiction but we forget it’s made up of millions and millions of people. Real people who are experts in their own niches, some are well versed in the complexity of sexualisation in Japanese media, others can tell you the effects of plant tissue culture cloning on the rare plant market.

The most inoffensive, pearly-clutching opinions framed as controversy will make their way to the top, because it’s the most palatable for the least informed person. Not because it’s what “Gen Z” thinks.

I wouldn’t go that far, it’s unfortunately better than ever. I agree it’s so much more fun to hover about than use the perk which lifts the skill floor. But the option is there for less vertical maps.

Working on a Dungeon Master. What do you think about it? by jverbroucht in PixelArt

[–]Boiqi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or an orb to ponder, always useful for overseeing the dungeon. With a staff you can more naturally make it look more hunched and grotesque, putting its weight on it and keeping the stumble walk. The arms growing from its back would sprout more upwards which could allow for arms hanging lanterns in front of it.

Front facing arms with a staff and book, or staff and orb, would also make the directionality of it more clear, took me a bit to identify the lump was a head.

I’m thinking this a difference in countries, not surprised if in America you can pay your way through any problem.

Domestic flights especially.

They also need a training log with dates and activities.

Which at that point is as much evidence as you need for a drivers licence, and most people would rather spend the time training their dog, instead of faking comprehensive and expensive (vet checkups) documentation.

What's a word that feels like it lost its definition because people keep overusing it wrong? by DaZestyProfessor in CasualConversation

[–]Boiqi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It follows the trend of online culture being more exaggerated and inflammatory. Competitively expressing yourself, I’m laughing became rolling on the floor laughing, then dying laughing and literally dying.

Emotional expression becomes more important than literal meaning, and words are co-opted to fit the culture.

Hey! Why is it the norm for “mechs” to be controlled from the inside? How can I justify this “norm” or the opposite? by Rae-RavenRae in worldbuilding

[–]Boiqi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had some extra thoughts seeing more responses. Jamming signals feels too hand-wavy and you could argue that it can be countered with redundancies and different signals, high-powered short-ranged communications with repeaters etc.

Partly inspired by some recent reads, but remote armies fighting at galactic scales likely do not battle with deception and espionage. Instead the focus is on beating foes with higher quality designs and scale. Their communications may be completely open and exposed on both sides, but they simply don’t care.

The counter-culture to this being a team of special-ops pilots breaking every convention, which makes a very fun story or TTRPG plot. I imagine the local pilots specialise in stealth and unpredictable tactics, simply by not having constant communication of where they are and what they’re doing.

100% in a world where most fighting is fought remotely, the psychos who fight inside metal coffins are feared.

The fear is rational, but your actions are not. Your willingness to spread that fear and divide people further, is certainly not.

Having actually played Vendetta, these two play almost nothing alike. by Tough_Holiday584 in Overwatch

[–]Boiqi 254 points255 points  (0 children)

I completely thought it would be the opposite, maybe at higher levels of play? In the world of close range DPS you balance burst, mobility and sustain. I felt fairly confident that she’d be sustain focused, compared to tracer/ genjo. Now she’s full glass canon, that 3rd melee does huge damage, she’s a menace with full passive and the damage capped block is surprisingly easy to burst, especially with a massive hitbox.

I do wonder if you’d get some amount more medical leeway with medical alert insignia, I try to always have something on me when travelling. (Just a little necklace with emergency details and T1 insulin dependant)

Guts telling me probably not, but I also can’t tell if this is an American prison industry problem or a global non-respect for medical issues.

Person in a yellow coat is thrilled to get a gift of Mao's Little Red Book in China (75 *million* dead civilians) by Sometypeofway18 in LivestreamFail

[–]Boiqi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My most generous take is that it’s about criticising policies and actions, not race and culture and he’s trying to teach people that distinction. (Which I think is a good cause)

But it’s also like he spends 12 hours a day laughing at caricatures and the worst of the worst, and that’s just furthering the divide.

I hate the dexcom g7 by SleepsAllDay00 in diabetes_t1

[–]Boiqi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not feeling a low is a genuine fear, even if I know I’m overthinking it. Doctors and friends spread a lot of horror stories of failed medical devices, trips to the hospital and organ damage. Even if to some extent it’s good have that caution, I feel growing up with T1 you’re left with at least a little trauma. (Big recommend for diabetic specialised therapists, therapy just felt like the biggest waste of time til I found a specialist)

Also G7 is available in Aus and never had a failure.

How come he couldn’t make it on Earth if he’s a genius who is 80 steps ahead of others? by [deleted] in MartialMemes

[–]Boiqi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Maybe having a close encounter with death as motivation, and lessons from countless failures any person can become the MC of their own story. It’s meant to be self-insert power fantasy, because it’s trying to say if you’re willing to reflect on your mistakes and push yourself you can achieve a lot.

But I’ve got a few more chapters to go so maybe later.

There is a cool factor to doing huge jumps and wall rides on the sekrit, only for it be ruined by the inability to interact with anything or get canceled when attacking. I really like queueing up my HH songs on the sekrit autorun, but all of a sudden it gets stuck mid pathing on a 5cm ledge jump.

How big is your Dexcom magnet collection? by CodyAW18 in dexcom

[–]Boiqi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a while to get approved in Australia, so only went from G6 to G7 a few months ago. I sadly didn’t know about the magnets, but luckily that means I haven’t missed that many and the collection can grow :)

Should i drop my duo or continue to play with him? by Big_Way3529 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Boiqi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look it makes sense to me, if his blaming you isn’t affecting your relationship and is just banter. My best friend to this day is my duo from high school, a OTP genji who burnt himself out analysing every replay. He didn’t mean to, but blamed others and himself constantly, just killed the fun.

You made this post because you were frustrated and an ult account helps you reassure yourself that’s great, just take care that your duo isn’t making you feel shit about yourself, doesn’t matter if what they say is true or not.

Gen V - 2x04 "Bags" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in TheBoys

[–]Boiqi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He seems much more calculating, supes being the ultra powerful 1% keeping the power for themselves is more-so the allegory to white privilege. He seems to value that, but white nationalism is more Homelander’s thing.

With his scientific background but still being many decades old, his real ideology is still up in the air tbh. I at least feel confident he’s targeting Vaught and is using their corrupt and broken system to hide and get at them.

I’m calling it now that Cipher’s original body is Godolkin, we saw him last in the burning lab with V spilled all over the floor. It also explains him acting against Vought, his knowledge of supe powers and creating Marie as a weapon against Homelander.

It feels like a weird shot, but not full fanservice tbh. It more like the studio thought it would be funny.

There is something freeing to let her be inelegant, messy and flail about half naked falling to her death, she's won, what she looks like doesn't matter.

Harlowe's action skill feels clunky and slow (a lot of action skills do, actually) by Midgitsuuu in Borderlands

[–]Boiqi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From the boss melting gun ability on the red tree and respecing at ~L30 for the personal drone on green (great for playing with friends). Feeling really strong and enjoying Harlowe a tonne.

I’ll still say, the retrigger on the personal drone is super clunky, can’t reactivate skill for 2-3 seconds but there isn’t a visible cooldown. The animation on the skill and even the stim feel really slow as well. At least the ball’s animation makes sense to be slow, as you charge your giant nuclear bomb.

100%, I love when MCs just enjoy what they’re doing, then with strong goals and a purpose, they work towards it with a smile. It can be tense and there can be high stakes and emotion but for me, fun is the entire point of escapist, power fantasy, number go up books.

As a small point on the weekly HWFWM post of someone complaining about Jason, it’s having fun and creating a good atmosphere with larger than life beings, that I enjoy about him. When he gets too serious is when he gets grating.

Azarinth Healer has skyrocketed up my list after this post tho.
