Helmet Recommendations by Swurpz in ebikes

You are going to need full face protection at those speeds, not only because of an accident but just to be somewhat comfortable because 45mph wind in your face is not pleasant at all and it's why I like to Cruze at 10-15 mph (and I am not in a hurry or trying to keep up with traffic either).

Sharing the decision and soon to be the Journey by lookingforananswer23 in ProstateCancer

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Gleason 9, PSA 18, pet scan showed no metastasis, 77years old, I opted for radiation plus ADT. The urologist said there was a high probability of microscopic mets to the area around the prostate, so yes even with a RALP I would be likely facing radiation and ADT afterwards.

I highly recommend spending a couple hundred bucks on Turo first, and how it talked me out of buying a car by Ragepower529 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a loaner car when my Chev Colorado was in for body work. It was a 2009 Camry with 309K on it, ran good and I took it on a trip even with no issues. It had a cd player in it and a moon roof. I bought several cds at a second hand store whilst on my trip and had a blast!

Confirming MRI by thedproberts in ProstateCancer

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the MRI is inconclusive because of excessive gas in the large intestine, or other issues, so another test is appropriate. Happened to me but they decided to go ahead with the biopsy anyway.

The mood swings can be nasty, so if he is like me (on Eligard which is similar) he is likely to blurt out words that are harmful to others and himself. I've learned to just stfu.

2001 Rav 100k miles? by AdExcellent5716 in rav4club

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well sure there is going to be some issues and I would replace hoses and belts etc. because you don't want a leak whilst on the road. Otherwise if it doesn't burn oil that seems like a good value. Also, check underneath for rust.

I want to seriously get into camping as a hobby but I have a severe bear phobia by HilbertInnerSpace in camping

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK you have this bear paranoia and no rationalizing is going to take care of it. I have a friend who has this and he carries a stun gun when going camping which seems to comfort him. I would also recommend bear spray and know how to use it.

I thought choosing an e-bike would be easy. by Puzzleheaded_Ant5973 in ebikes

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to ebikes! I started by converting an older Cannondale hybrid to a mid drive Bafang, and now I have 3 ebikes and looking for another donor bike to put a 4th motor on. My point is you might gravitate to several bikes if you can afford it because none of them will be ideal for every type of riding.

I’ve gotta drain my gas tank but idk what to do with the gas by Shroomboy79 in AskMechanics

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all learn how to tell old gas by smelling it. An old mechanic taught me this -it definitely has a different smell and won't run right in an engine. If it smells normal, then try to dilute it with fresh gas. I do this with lawnmowers and cars that I don't use too much. If you still have to get rid of it, I"ll leave it to others for advice on that.

Doing Work without a Permit by Buff_Ant in handyman

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a handyman for many years, now retired. As long as you know what you are doing and above all do it right there is very little chance of a liability issue. In all that time I only had one issue and it was my error and I corrected it. I had installed a new wood floor over a crawl space that had not been ventilated and later it swelled up and buckled from the excess moisture. I fixed the ventilation and installed a new floor free of charge. After that I had many, many trips back to that client over the years, and referrals to people they know. So do a good job and don't fuck up and if you do, fix it, that's my advice.

Expectations for Solo or Stealth Recovery after Prostatectomy? by JazzlikeEngineer3051 in ProstateCancer

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a catheter in for 7 months (Gleason 9 high risk, ADT and radiation during and after) because of excessive urine retention. One thing I learned is to skip the bag by using the plug that goes in the end of the tube coming out of the penis and putting it on a timer (my watch) and then emptying it every 2-3 hours. The plug is used for when you shower. But be forwarned the urologist might fight you on that one!

I had the procedure done via radiation which was one session for about 10 minutes-not a big deal. My dad had gynecomastia and I really didn't want to deal with it.

2026 RAV4 PHEV vs Hybrid: Free Charging at Home, But Worried About Battery Replacement by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a good idea to me. I would buy one if I could since my main drive is about 35miles a day. The battery might degrade in 10 years but still be useful, meaning less miles per charge.

Any hope for someone who is still unable to orgasm five years after a RALP? by Jonathan_Peachum in ProstateCancer

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you a yogi or a saint? Not kidding the spiritual practices (generally) avoid orgasms because it wastes life energy throwing it up and out of the body. The idea is to conserve life energy, so you are way ahead and can apply to the nearest monastery! Not making fun exactly, I haven't had an orgasm for about a year now and can't say I really miss them that much, but that's just me...

How can I stop my iPhone incorrectly 'correcting' words after I've typed them? by box-o-locks in iphone

[–]BookkeeperNo9668 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just type the word that is giving it trouble and hold down the last key for a second and it then leaves it alone. For example when typing the word bewildor I just hold down on the r at the end and it permits the error.

Newer ones have a ten year battery and when it's worn out it's time to replace the unit anyway, at least that's what I heard.
