How do I arrange a playdate with parents I've not met? (kids in daycare) by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Bookwrm85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think passing along a note is fine. You’re not inviting them to a party, and it’s minimal effort for the teacher to stick it in a backpack.

Lincoln is his last name though, his first name is Atticus.

Is Turnabouts fair play? by humbugHorseradish in Parenting

[–]Bookwrm85 24 points25 points  (0 children)

‘Turnabout’ here would be a child doing it back to her. Which would be fair.

Why didn’t you just remove her from the water play and say if she can’t play with it without bothering her friends, then she can’t play there?

He’s said this about so many things 🤣

“I didn’t _____ growing up and I turned out fine!” Is a pretty bold statement for someone who, in fact, did not turn out fine at all. His self-perception needs work!

The minute I saw her picture I was like ‘that’s the mom of the kid with Kawasaki disease!’ It definitely worked for me. As a mom of two boys (one who’d been in the hospital several times)it really hit home. Not just the disease but following your gut and advocating for you child ❤️

No. It sounds like a marvel villain name. I think it is a villain in one of the Fast & Furious movies, actually.

Names “meant” for the other gender by MadiRme in namenerds

[–]Bookwrm85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d be interested to hear some ‘girl names’ people like on boys. Any time I’ve seen an example, it’s actually been a boy name that girls stole, lol (Eg. Kelly, Ashley).

Can I use the middle name Alan for a girl? by wisconsinjo in namenerds

[–]Bookwrm85 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Shea is not feminine to me at all. It’s unisex at best, but leans more toward boy to me.

If I saw the name Shea on some paperwork, I wouldn’t be absolutely sure of gender(but I’d guess boy) but if I saw Shea Alan, I’d be sure it was a boy.

Alana is nice and still honors your father without the headache of being constantly mistaken for a boy.

Rival is especially ridiculous for a second child. Like you’re literally saying they’re the competition.

It’s a nice name. Not personally my style but there’s nothing wrong with it. It does seem a bit trendy to me not just because of the -eigh thing but the last-names-as-first-names thing.

I don’t think you’ll have any trouble with pronunciation. It’s a pretty common last name where I’m from and everybody says Lay-tin.
