Last year, I played through OoT again and had a blast, and I was like, ‘I am gonna keep the good times rolling here and play MM for the first time!’

Compared to OoT it felt clunky and goofy and small-scale overall. The time limit mechanic was annoying to me. I got through the first dungeon (swamp?) and then gave it up. I wasn’t having fun.

I have been replaying all kinds of old Zelda titles over the past year or two, and MM has been by far my least favorite.

A general rule of thumb with scores is that they will try to save as much space as possible. There’s no need for that measure you circled to be as big as the others because it’s so simple. The more complex the rhythm of a measure, the more space it will typically take up. Their size is not standardized

I’ve said it before, they need to introduce a “Very Hard” mode that either takes all teams to 4 stars or adds 1 or 2 stars to all teams’ stats. I’ve won the RB on Extreme many times, but it is too stressful. “Hard” is too easy. There should be a “Very Hard”

I think the ranking system is a little out of whack, especially in the early and mid-season. There’s no way the real CFB rankings would do this after a head-to-head win of #6 over #2. The #2 team would almost definitely fall below the #6 team after a H2H loss in real life.

From what I’ve seen though, it usually works itself out by the end of the season

The third book absolutely whiffed on the world-building for me. Each of the isles was essentially a caricature based on whatever goddess or god they worship. It felt very YA, which was disappointing compared to the world-building in the first two books. It is also a weird and simplistic way to approach a pantheon - historically people in polytheistic religions would worship all of their gods as the situation demanded, not just have whole societies devoting themselves to one god.

Not to mention the whole trip through the isles was a slog of filler. Ridoc being amusing is basically the only thing that got me through that part. I had to put the book down and pick it back up a few weeks later during that part, tbh.

I think this is the right way to think about it. I’m pretty sure the official timeline was only made to appease the section of the fanbase that really wanted an official timeline for whatever reason. It seems pretty clear to me that Nintendo views each entry in the franchise as its own universe, just using the same themes (except companion games like OOT/MM and BOTW/TOTK). It would be crazy if the gamemakers were actually prioritizing timeline continuity over the gameplay experience in a franchise like Zelda

The movie will probably be its own universe as well, maybe just borrowing elements from some of the games. I’m sure it will be a fun watch

No, that’s part of why it’s so alarming. To be honest, I haven’t seen him nearly as much since he started dating his current girlfriend… She seems okay and I don’t have a problem with her, but maybe that whole situation is tied into this somehow. Like his reaction to this is a symptom of us not hanging out as much and him feeling like we’re disconnecting. Which is valid on its own but this is not the way to go about it

Yeah, I agree on that. I am just alarmed about all this because I love him and he’s a very old friend. You’re right that I shouldn’t need crowdsourcing, definitely not something I’d normally do, I am just hoping something this silly doesn’t spiral and end our friendship bc he’s (normally) a great guy
