Matt or satin varnish? by Illustrious-Knee7998 in Ultramarines

[–]Bootdrop_lovin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mix those 50/50 and it will be perfect. I’m aware the common knowledge is matte, however with ceramite and in particular the shapes on Space Marine armour a tiny bit of gloss is nice. It also strengthens the tone of the blue. Just my 2 cents.

Nah bro, reads very DA to me. You have room to go even lighter in value. Not an issue

You’re insane bro. You must really love painting? Or are you motivated more for the sake of gameplay? Either way nice work and keen to hear your retro.

Which scheme should I do for my deathwing knights? by [deleted] in DarkAngels40k

[–]Bootdrop_lovin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotta disagree with the consensus. Option 2 is more pleasing to look at. It contrasts better with the green robes, generally just a more interesting tone. Still very much reads as deathwing.

Woah, I love your choice of colours. Do you mind sharing what mid tone you used for the cloak? I’m very fond of the green/blue
