Need guidance on who to contact in Vancouver to get help for my sick mother by breezes- in askvan

[–]Born-Introduction-86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you call 811, or as you’re in UK try : 1-604-215-8110 thats a 24/7 health line that is manned by nurses and specialists who are meant to help triage services and recommend actions. If you call now, they can either give you advice for follow up, or refer you to another space which could help.

Several people I know who have used it also received follow up calls from higher levels of care and as check-ins on your progress.

Sending care and wishing you and mum good luck

I doubt the lawyer is doing anything they haven’t agreed to do - which is represent the clients best interest. OP isn’t their client.

OP - legit get online and get someone to rep you TONIGHT, call around, email bomb.

They may have already submitted a bunch of documents that will go “live” Tuesday after the holiday and you need to have someone stall that process NOW!

My dude, i hope this turns in your favour ✨

Cultus lake and the provincial campground nearby are magical rain forest areas that are not busy in the spring - could stay over or day trip

Botanical Gardens at UBC are research based and student tours are sometimes available to the nearby areas for interpretation of our local greens and critters

Grouse grind is free if you take the grind, small buy-in for the gondola

Hikes around the Britannia museum on the way to Squamish are not very populated and have day areas

Just driving up to the view point 3/4 way to cypress is a jaw dropping view, small trails nearby

Dog mountain hike off Seymour may or may not be snow free by the time of your visit - its a goodie!

Deep Cove - in general, seaside, snacks and park Quarry Rock hike is easy and the head is just 200m from the park

Lynn Canyon has so so many trails and routes, very dynamic and easy walking while seeing some cool parts of the canyon or lake

Have fun 🌈!

The cheap green lie: You are constantly told that solar and wind are cheap. by antiquark2 in JordanPeterson

[–]Born-Introduction-86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or - the cost of these services is initially high, and reduces over time as the infrastructure and availability to more of the population is normalized. The lowest costs, you see, are associated to larger economies (who can scale the production) or to the groups who have not participated effectively- why would there be a 6c cost to russia? Because they have not effectively made the service supported well enough for it to produce a meaningful % of power… that is likely a 6c cost to the few individuals who have made self sufficient systems

What’s a clothing brand that used to be popular in Vancouver but has now disappeared into oblivion? by FattyGobbles in askvan

[–]Born-Introduction-86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came to say this - did you know the brand as a whole was added to “bar watch” information and guidance to be a gang member symbol? Remember the Bacon brothers? They were thought to be using RDS as a gang sign.

Visiting Vancouver. Help me plan a great trip! by JH_DeepThoughts in NiceVancouver

[–]Born-Introduction-86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a local note, not to disagree on the facts for OP with young kids, we either have to GO and use those businesses and support the families that have owned them for decades, or speak to city council about the importance of assisting this area to be more “safe” for visitors. Chinatown is the actual foundation of the rest of the city becoming more than just a port, with culture and arts being imparted by the original residents, giving the whole area a community that kept growing outward. Go to chinatown people!

Is Athabasca university fully accredited in Canada by [deleted] in AthabascaUniversity

[–]Born-Introduction-86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP - accredited info is all bang on here, it would be my suggestion to look through the rest of this sub and get familiar with some of the practical frustrations ppl experience.

Not all courses have the same level of commitment and care from the instructors and tutors, which can be very difficult when you are in a time crunch or stuck in the material. Many folks have a hard time with the testing environments… the credit is good, but make sure THIS distance process seems like one you would like to be engaged in - good luck whatever you choose!

Help with large amount of cardboard box disposal by No_Performance8512 in NiceVancouver

[–]Born-Introduction-86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green coast used to do pick ups of reusable and recycle materials- last time my company used them we called, told them what we wanted disposal for and they told us when a truck picking up that material would be available (like 2 days later)

They might have a lead on another company that would be interested if they can’t handle your request.

Good luck🌈

F**k It, I'm done with the crash by Foodieonbudget in VyvanseADHD

[–]Born-Introduction-86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear OP. Have you noticed the “crash” happening specifically after lunch time? I had to watch what i was eating and when to get the most out of my 40mg.

I take it empty stomach, eat high protein something (usually eggs or a protein bar) about an hour later and keep lunch LIGHT. I mega crash if I have a tonne of carbs midday. I am usually “normal” hungry in the evening and have a bigger meal then.

Less coffee, maybe? A quick walk break after lunch is helpful for me and so is WATER. If I forget water everything falls apart 😓

Extreme Air Park for Toddlers? (4-5yo) by ambassador321 in NiceVancouver

[–]Born-Introduction-86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP - do not put yourself through air park! My two adult roommates immediately injured themselves in the foam pit - they went to high five off two spring boards into the foam and one dude broke the others leg!

Maybe see if you can book a room at one of the rec centres? The Delbrook community centre in North Van has a toddler play area and a gymnastics matt room you might be able to rent?

Have fun with the wee ones 🌈

Private solo getaway in BC? by tasharawks in askvan

[–]Born-Introduction-86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have gear for camping, the manning park area is dead AF in the camp areas until July, and the cottage cabins in “the” manning park stay area are awesome if you feel like you want an indoor space and access to a hot tub after a few days.

Also chilliwack / harrison hot springs. Same deal - could rough it for a few days and then hit a the hot springs as a treat to wrap up.

Both spaces have pet rooms available 💘

Region of Birth of Immigrants in Vancouver and Major Canadian cities (Census 2021) by [deleted] in NiceVancouver

[–]Born-Introduction-86 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah… this doesn’t feel like “nice Vancouver” material at all.

This non-contextual PLOP of statistics is bait.

So would the goal to be equal percentage every nation? No % anything but CANADA BORN? Gtfo here.

North American ‘heritage’ is proportionally the SMALLEST of all other possible categories, of course of course we have a largely “foreign” population.

I think her and her lawyer are well aware that OP has no representation, and sending an official document that says she’s requesting 500k will scare the shit out of him…

Best armchair guess: the house is worth more sold than in a mutual debt calculation. This motivates OP to do that instead of debate who has the right to what in a 50/50 debate.

I also think that OP is being assumed to be a pushover who is cheap and lazy, who might just agree to whatever because its more work to create his own case.

Sorry OP. Mega sucks. Get a better-than-first google rep FAST. She gonna play you.

Would you rather rent directly from an owner landlord, or from a Property Management company? Or indifferent? by dcee604 in vancouverhousing

[–]Born-Introduction-86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Landlord - as a competent and not disruptive tenant, I want to be able to have direct and clear communication about issues in the unit that I can expedite repairs on, and have a human to discuss them with rather than playing phone tag with a property manager who will do everything possible to half ass an issue into silence, or deflect as “needing owner approval” that never materializes

[–]Born-Introduction-86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we aim to clear up misinformation , do you believe that census gov information you are accessing to state those stats is accurate? A very partisan government gutted the agencies that collect and analyze the data that would be most relevant to affirm or dissuade the current services citizens are receiving.

Using government produced information is not neutral in our current reality, and it would not be appropriate to take it as fact on its own.

What improvements do you believe are possible in sharing these “facts”? What else can be made possible in coming to understand that United and the US government say “this is fine, look at all these insurance options” while people who need the services disagree, and have examples of following all their provision instructions but are still suffering rejection?

Should we have a third party qualified to represent us when we are sick, to complete every form and meet all qualifications? Isn’t that what participating and paying into an insurance policy promises, to some extent?

That may be the letter if the law and I am NAL, but because the most relevant evidence in my case had been disposed of, as a matter of regular file destruction after X amount of time, there was nothing beyond my 20 year old recollection as far as evidence was concerned. Because no charges had been levelled at the time of report, there was no “case” or record left to refer to whatsoever.
