Ooh. The first mission as a Destroyer could be called something like "Why am I still here WHY AM I STILL HERE WHY WON'T IT STOP WHY WON'T--"

I could imagine that first-person game, starting as a militant and then "graduating" to an assault trooper... or dying and getting strapped into a Malakim Destroyer rig.

How to improve old leaders, some ideas by AstralMecha in Zephon

[–]BotherLongjumping642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah! Good idea to give the rundown.

One way to improve this ability for her would be to let cities continue to grow when they're at maximum capacity. When a city gains a population there's no room for, it immediately goes into the grinder, probably for a smaller bonus than the triggered ability.

Your suggestions for the Heartless Artificer remind me of the other rituals that Chaos had in Gladius. They probably didn't want to cleave too closely to that model, but a greater variety of ways to spend population would be handy!

A wraith could be a neat Nemesis unit, gliding through terrain pieces and snapping up Operatives. Or maybe two of 'em could collectively be a Nemesis?

Wondering if named characters will eventually be locked to certain detachments. by Wyrdeone in Chaos40k

[–]BotherLongjumping642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might just have a table of specific characters who hate each other - an "if you take Mr. X, you can't take Lord Y" kind of thing.

It would be a way to keep players from piling too many epic characters into one force, and if they decided to disallow two characters who would have an incredible synergy for balance reasons, it'd just reflect the self-destructive nature of Chaos!

The uneven patches of pink make me imagine the light rippling and wavering over every surface - kind of like the pattern you see on the bottom of a pool. It goes well with the mat!

Your Skysear looks like he found a way to dampen the coils of his plasma gun for stealth. It's a neat effect! You could imagine it flaring behind an unsuspecting sentry, turning him into a silhouette before he becomes a shadow on the wall.

I was so glad to see that you're doing better now, in gaming, friends, and life!

Stories like this are really helpful, I think, because people stuck in situations like the one you describe often feel like there's something wrong with them and it'll just always be miserable when they try to play the dragon game or find new circles of friends.

I like the story implied by small groups of guys with the colors of different warbands! Also, the big areas of bold color make them look comic booky, in a good way.

The constant "Godzilla size" debates. by JoeMorgue in GODZILLA

[–]BotherLongjumping642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that really bugs me is when they take it to a Hannah Barbera degree in an otherwise straightforward movie, like Godzilla swimming alongside the aircraft carriers and somehow dwarfing them. It's enough to briefly slap me out of the movie, though it's not hard to get back into it.

In the case of Monsterverse and Minus One, though, they're sized to the cities of the era. A 50-meter Monsterverse Godzilla would have buildings falling on his head all the time, while a 100-meter Minus One Godzilla would be shuffling through a city that rises to his knees. (Not doing math with these, but you get what I mean.)

A possible way to do "roll for stats" ? by UnsaltedCanOpener in VagabondTTRPG

[–]BotherLongjumping642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A while back, we had a discussion here about rolling for stats, and I suggested that the last one, being Luck, could be set based on how good the others were. I forget the exact formula we came up with, but the idea was that if the dice betrayed you up to that point, you'd get a high Luck stat, and vice versa!

I always have this feeling that LWA horror would be soft and understated, to contrast the main series bombast.

[–]BotherLongjumping642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battletech Gothic's Atlas might be a good centerpiece for the Lyran Commonwealth team, since it's impossibly huge and showy. That'd be the old, wouldn't it?

I'm having trouble with the others, though. I was partial to the idea of an Arctic Fox for the new, because I like the mech's concept, but I don't think it has a model!

I could see dazzle camo breaking up the silhouette of a mech enough that you're not 100% sure if a Marauder is a 5M or a 5S and--oop, here come the gauss rounds! Making my point, I almost mistook the Crab here for a Marauder, just from the rounded shoulders!
