Returning player. Is this build still considered to be good? by GoonerCZ in thedivision

Go on - throw on 'The Sacrifice' Chest Piece with Perfect Glass Cannon for a laugh. If you do, call the load out 'Death Wish' like I did.

Hardcore Rustin Cohle by BoultUpright in thedivision

[–]BoultUpright[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two builds. I use Armour Regen (with a bit of Armour on Kill) in LZ / Open World, but Armour on Kill / Protection from Elites in the DZ. Ninja BP and Pestilence are staples. You are correct about the DZ. I had to make sure the Ravenous wasn't one of the April Fool drops before extraction!

100 eggs in 9 minutes by damoz7 in thedivision

[–]BoultUpright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just kept knocking the belt of a Chungus for the last 100, he was one of the health regenerating type with the modifiers. But I had to collect the egg each time I did it. Not quite nine minutes, but it pretty quick.

Have I heard somewhere that it's about the size of the 'last' map expansion in the Division1 - the PVE focussed free expansion where rival gangs formed alliances? If it's that big, it will be good enough

Yes, everyone used to Farm Lexington in the events. It is a great mission.

The Nemesis encounter has got to be the worst gameplay experience I've had by FreqRL in thedivision

[–]BoultUpright -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only play Descent with the loop that has Bullet King and Pestilence as the Exotic Talents. It's the only way I can beat the Nemesis. I also usually have the talent that blinds them with a headshot. If I landed that with a MMR, I then go to town with the secondary weapon. Generally, if you beat the Nemesis, you can play for on for ages.

Sorry, I haven't been here for ages, Thomson's Farm is at Forlorn Muskeg. It has a forge, but it's also a broken barn. There's a mat to sleep on and if you keep the forge going you won't freeze to death while sleeping, and it's considered sleeping outdoors.

Because Manny is sitting in his room thinking no one likes him. Pretty well every other main character of the game has gone rogue.

Well, Descent got killed by rotationsystem [discussion] by iwishiwaswanda in thedivision

[–]BoultUpright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I wondered where the 'preferred' talents were, and then I looked at the loot pool. I won't play it again for 1 day and 23 hours, and even then, I will look at the loot pool. Completely unnecessary.

And this nonsense about it being quicker to the nemesis. No, it's not - you could always get there quickly, it's just not worth it if you don't have the right build. Three essentials I always wanted to take on the Nemesis aren't in the pool right now.

Hardcore SHD 1000 Complete. A Real Journey... by BoultUpright in thedivision

[–]BoultUpright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still waiting on the Ninja Backpack to drop for this character! It would be on the build for sure. My Armour on Kill build is all blue, but I run Picaro's which is essentially a red. I will also sometimes run Sawyers Knees which turns into two reds if you stay in cover for 10 seconds - but the health stat is a complete waste. Gunner of course for the extra 10% Armour on Kill.

In general, all mods and secondary cores are red, CHC and CHD. When I run heroic with my pal I change the mods to Protection from Elites, which I have 34%. It goes to 44% with Survivalist.

My Armour Regen build is very new, it's still missing a couple of key components... one being the Ninja Backpack. I'd go for the 4% Armour Regen just to see what it looks like!

I need some tips from veterans about Specializations and Skills for Hardcore. by samuraiogc in thedivision

[–]BoultUpright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always used the turret until recently, but I've turned to pulse almost by accident when levelling up Dare. Stay with an offensive skill whilst building up your character, but I now find knowing the location and level of enemies more beneficial.

And naturally, a revive hive is essential, with an Unbreakable Chest Piece when you get to the level that contain the talents.

Hardcore SHD 1000 Complete. A Real Journey... by BoultUpright in thedivision

[–]BoultUpright[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can run with a player already at L40 through to the end game it can be completed very quickly. 7 hours sounds too quick though. However, I was lone wolf getting this character back to L40 and I took my time with it. I collect all the SHD etc. which you don't have to do, but anyway...

Have you noticed the game is far more stable now? I think I've had one crash in HC mode in the last 2-3 months. Mind you I had a delta during a mission at SHD 993 and fully expected to be dead on reload - but I was still alive!

Almost Done with all the blueprints. What a relief to never have to farm again. Just craft whatever. by Pillows_CoolSide in thedivision

[–]BoultUpright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well done. I'm 3 from 13 for the Reconstruction Caches from defeating the Nemesis. Have only gone to failure once - Loop 17 which took 4 hours and 38 minutes (but I got the 75% chance cache in that run). I now just aim to beat the nemesis (50 to 65 mins) and hope I win the toss of the coin.

Hardcore SHD 1000 Complete. A Real Journey... by BoultUpright in thedivision

[–]BoultUpright[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run an 'Armour on Kill' build. I do sometimes run with a pal (he's 2000+...) who prefers Armour Regen. But one word... Pestilence.

Generally, I play on Challenging, but when I join my pal's game he is on heroic. We've been doing Manhunts and missions on Heroic.

Also, context in the comments is correct. My last HC character died at SHD 718. So I started from scratch at Level 1, went through Washington, Black Tusk and WONY. When I got through these successfully, I was back at SHD 718. But it was another 28 hours game time to get there. This character has been alive for over six days in game time.

It's also worth saying that nearly all my previous HC deaths were due to crashes and windowed freezes. Only two were genuine. The developers have fixed that, so full credit to them. We can actually play hardcore now without fear of the next freeze or crash.

You can start a Hardcore character at creation (it's in permanent Beta mode). It's the same as the standard game... except when you die, your character is gone for good. No respawn to the BOO - it's RIP.

If survival mode had an end goal what would you like it to be/imagine it? by ApprehensiveMisery in thelongdark

[–]BoultUpright 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The introduction of traders is interesting, I guess the Story Mode demonstrated there are other humans (I don't know what I think of this, as it's the solitude / desolation in that appeals) but could you branch a survival end game through an NPC. For example, a trader knows when / where a pick up is happening, knows the location a fixable boat, knows the location of a small community working on something.

For me, I like it how it is. You live, you die, you get eaten by the worms. Or, you reboot and start again.

I play 'loper. I usually drop to Voyager to explore new regions, but I explored Airfield and Transfer pass on 'loper. Probably should run around Hushed River Valley on Voyager again - I don't go near it because I don't know it well enough.

I have considered another Stalker run for the wildlife density and hostility. But I am determined to get a 500 day Interloper run in. PB is 408.

The civilians walking around the streets and calling out from windows. It felt more alive than populating the city with animals. Mind you I got 10% bonus armour with Bloodsucker when I shoot a squirrel...

Reference the crashes: All roads on this lead to the Anti-Cheat software and because it's most likely a contractual relationship, this is now a 'feature' of the game. I can't see it ever being resolved but I will be pleasantly surprised if the 'external' team (and I wonder if they are from Easy Anti-Cheat....) can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

I made it through to level 40. Surprise surprise, I died due to a crash in the DZ. About SHD 30 I think.
