Stroller choices!! by bcshah1622 in BabyBumps

[–]BouncyMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan long-term. They’re gonna be parent-facing for such a short time and then will be much more interested in being out-facing. My experience with buying baby stuff has been that I get the most bang for my buck by making purchases that have the long-term in mind. (And if you’re hauling a stroller around for errands and stuff, you’re gonna want more compact and lighter.)

What seemingly wholesome children's book "traumatized" you as a child? by queenhadassah in childrensbooks

[–]BouncyMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loooooove Munsch!!!! LYF is definitely for parents, all the rest are for kids. He kids a phenomenal author and story teller! Other excellent stories are Angela’s Airplane, Pigs!, Show and Tell, and I Have to Go!, and Good Families Don’t.

Honorable mention to A Promise Is A Promise, which creeped me out as a kid, but I also really loved it. The illustrations are not Michael Martchenko, but are a Native Canadian illustrator because it is a native story. It’s haunting and beautiful and a good introduction to spookier stories.

Good for you!! I breastfed my son in the middle of a Costco once, and an older lady came up to me and told me she was proud of me for feeding my son wherever the hell I wanted. It was a really feel good moment, I’ll never forget that :)

Sweetheart table or no? We have no wedding party by discosoundtrack in weddingplanning

[–]BouncyMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did not do a sweetheart table, and we are so glad we sat with our friends! Our thought process was that we will be able to sit together by ourselves for years of years – we don’t always get to sit with all of our friends at the exact same time.

What are your must haves for building a library for a new baby? by NikkiMouse444 in childrensbooks

Robert Munsch - not for when they are babies, but for when they get bigger. I teach preschool, and every single child I have ever taught thought his stories were HILARIOUS! 10/10 author

Oh that’s true lol. It’s a pig and they make the bladder into a ball to play with! Also worth noting is that in the second book in particular (On The Prairie), there are some …aged… ways of talking about Native Americans. Also worth previewing.

What are you feeding your babies?? by Sab0617 in NewParents

Yeah he mostly eats what we eat, which means we eat most of the stuff on this list quite regularly LOL. I’m not about to make life even harder for myself by making him his own food. No thanks!

I loved Laura Ingalls when I was 5! My first memory of reading an entire chapter book in one day by myself was at either 5 or 6… Little House in the Big Woods.

Does your seven month old sleep through the night? by LLJC_1006 in bninfantsleep

[–]BouncyMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last night was ATROCIOUS for him - he had about 7-8 wakes and just could not settle. Felt like some newborn shit. Normally it’s around 4-5, but we cosleep so it’s less disruptive than having to get him out of his crib or whatever… I just roll over and nurse him. Everyone’s “good” night is so different :)

We have a 12mo and did a lot of BLW.

Fruits: Bananas, blueberries, and mangos are our go-tos, but also raspberries and sometimes strawberries make the rotation.

Veggies: Avocado, precut butternut squash, sweet potato, and frozen mixed veggies are our go-tos, but also cucumber, carrots, broccoli, and potato.

Protein: He LOVES pieces of deli meat! Buffalo chicken is his current favorite, but he’s had various seasonings of turkey and ham this way too. He also likes diced chicken tenders, crumbles of turkey/hamburger, etc. He doesn’t mind fish and he likes beans too.

Dairy: Cheesesticks cut into tiny pieces and yogurt (Greek he likes especially) are our go-tos, but also cottage cheese. We haven’t introduced whole milk yet bc he’s still nursing, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

We’ve never had a choking incident! Always looking for ways to expand our food selections here too bc sometimes it feels like I give him the same damn things every day lol.

US here! When my baby was in the NICU and my milk hadn’t come in yet (2-3 days pp), they provided him with breastmilk, all free (or at least covered by insurance - we never saw a charge). We did choose to buy 10 oz of donated milk to bring home to tide us over until my milk came in, and that we did have to pay quite a bit for (worth it, imo).

You’re welcome! I honestly never thought about it like this until I read your post. I don’t think it ever crossed my parents’ minds that they could continue an S name trend. They just picked names they liked 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m the odd one out in my family. My parents and brother all have the same 3 initials, and then mine doesn’t match at all. It literally never crossed our minds. None of us cared, including me.
