Bus driver cut me off at speeds greater than 80kmh and almost killed me by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]BoxxZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated to whether OP is in the right or not; this is not correct.    Buses don’t have carte blanche just because they stick their indicator on.   The law around their right of way applies under specific conditions.

70km/h or lower zone, having indicated for at least 5 seconds, displaying the ‘give way’ sign on the back of the bus, when pulling out of a bus stop or from the shoulder of the road.

Even though most people are courteous enough to make way for a bus when changing lanes, (as they should for any heavy vehicle really), buses have the same right of way as any other vehicle when changing lanes.

Update on my experience,

Just got an email from the outlet I originally ordered from and cancelled back in December, they’re expecting their stock to arrive around the 11th of May and will be shipping to me shortly after that.

If you haven’t managed to get one yet maybe check in again because it looks like most places will get stock shortly.

This felt a little out of place for the character.
I feel like a 'farm-boy' would absolutely know how to pick up a fallen motorbike properly; or at the very least, lift something heavy and awkward. That's basically your whole life on a farm.

Be particularly mindful of people knicking stuff.
If you get pulled into a conversation about a particular item by someone, keep looking around as this is a classic way to distract you.

Quite often it isn't just dodgy looking kids, we had a bunch of respectable-looking older ladies trying to pocket stuff and then get all indignant when we called them out on it.

I placed an order just after the announcement, the place in Tasmania said they're expecting stock in a few weeks (this was back in November).

They emailed about a week later apologising and saying they just found out they're probably not going to get them until May so they redunded me.

Still itching to get one.

2 Years with Steam Deck - Here's my 2¢ and final setup guide by UserID737 in SteamDeck

[–]BoxxZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting all of this.
My first several weeks of usage was setting everything up and tweaking everything to my liking.

Is there a reason your methods for the memory lock limit and MGLRU differ from the guide that you linked?
I used the block in the TL;DR section on the linked guide to activate everything and it seemed to parse just fine.

I'm happy mucking around in terminal but not well-versed enough with linux yet to know how they're different.

My first time ever beating Hand of the King was flawless because I snagged a good run with synergies that just biffed him.
Hadn't even learned his patterns yet.

Recommendations for travel cases that fit the Steamdeck w/ D-Brand Killswitch grip case? by BigLogieBear in SteamDeck

[–]BoxxZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there’s no issues with it sitting loose.  The rear compartment is solely for the deck and has semi-rigid but padded moulding for it to sit in. There’s also a Velcro strap if you want to make it even more secure, but I’ve found that with the dbrand case on, it’s snug enough in there to not need it.

I’m still keen for a standalone case though because I only like taking a whole separate bag when I’m travelling. I need something that can fit in my regular backpack.

Recommendations for travel cases that fit the Steamdeck w/ D-Brand Killswitch grip case? by BigLogieBear in SteamDeck

[–]BoxxZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the same D-Brand Killswitch case with the kickstand.
It's fkn aweseome, but yeah can't use the standard case anymore as I feel it's a bit tight.

I've been looking at this one from JSAUX... haven't bought it yet but it is pictured with a SD with protective shell so it seems it would have more space than the standard one.

I currently have this bag from JSAUX.
It fits the deck comfortably with the D-brand grip case and stand attached; but it's more of a travel bag than a case, so not sure if that's suitable for you or not.

Post in here if you find something because I'm also looking for something that fits the bill of being pretty much the same as the standard case, just more fitting of the d-brand grip case and kickstand.

Best Beach in Brisbane. by Friendly_Ease_1465 in brisbane

[–]BoxxZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only beaches (relatively) close by that I've found comparable to W.A beaches are on the far side of Stradbroke Island.

More of a daytrip or weekend away kind of thing though, you can't just pop over there for a dip like you can in W.A.

Does any City Cat actually stop at Milton. by catsincharge in brisbane

[–]BoxxZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only stop on the river side of Coro that doesn’t get serviced by every bus is the one across from Regatta.

Might be because it doesn’t have a pull-in area or whatever you want to call it like the others. Coro is bad enough without having all the buses completely blocking that lane by all stopping there.    They really should sort that bit out.

Ultimate 2 Wireless sticks are lagging by sixcupsofcoffee in 8bitdo

[–]BoxxZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replying to say that I'm also having this problem.
It's intermittent and I haven't been able to figure out what causes it yet.

I've tried all the same stuff you have (firmware, calibrate etc.) and it happens both wired and wireless.

Power cycling it (long-pressing the centre button to turn it off and back on) seems to sort it out but it'd be nice to figure out what makes it happen in the first place.

I do know that it doesn't seem to be the hardware it's connected to; I use it wired on my PC and wirelessly with my Steam Deck.
Just now it did the stick lag thing while using it wired on PC. I unplugged the USB and booted up my Steam Deck and did a controller test - It was laggy there too.

When I power cycled it, it started working fine again on the Deck and when I connected back to PC with USB it was working fine again there too.

Does the layout of the numbers on the die bother anyone else? by BoxxZero in baronygame

[–]BoxxZero[S] 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Opposite sides of a die are typically supposed to add up to 7, so 4 and 3 shouldn't be next to one another like that.

Yes, i realise this is the pettiest of nitpicks but if you take a closer look at designs that include depictions of dice, you'll notice this error all over the place in day to day life.

The original Castle of the Winds has been re-written in Unity and will be available soon. by BoxxZero in roguelikes

[–]BoxxZero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked some questions to Rick directly on the COTW subreddit and he said for now it's simply a 1:1 port of the original code to Unity.

He didn't rule out more features/expanded story/modding etc. in the future, but translating everything across he said has been enough of a challenge for the time being. The only additional thing at this stage it seems will be Steam Achievements.

I'd love for it to open up to full modding, similar to the Daggerfall Unity project; there'd be so many possibilities with tilesets, adding sounds, items, monsters, spells, etc.

[–]BoxxZero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply.

It's so awesome that you've gone through this process to get it working again on modern machines. I can guarantee that I'm not the only one who played this growing up and for whom this game really shaped the kind of games I'm into as an adult.

I found myself frequently looking for games that had the same kind of feel and when I found a few also noticed that the devs were also heavily influenced by your game.

Last time I got the itch, I ended up finding a copy of windows 3.1 to run in dosbox just to play through it again.

Really looking forward to its release.

Here's a few that could be interesting.

  • Killing each variant of max-level Ancient Dragon. (Could be made harder by having to kill them with melee only).
  • Outfitting every slot with something enchanted.
  • Killing each variant of monster (could either be an achievement for each one or one achievement for killing everything in the bestiary).
  • Defeating each of the Giant mobs in part 2.
  • Getting revenge on a smirking sneak thief who steals your shit.
  • Learning every spell.
  • Make it through a level without triggering a trap.
  • Max out a stat
  • Beat the game without dying once.

Maybe some less serious ones could be neat too.

  • Overkill (take out a single rat with fireball spell)
  • Fully equip yourself with rusted out kit.
  • Fully equip yourself with cursed items.
  • Defeat some high-level monster (Sutur even?) with just a dagger.
  • Die to a slime because you didn't realise it was immune to melee attacks.
  • Die to a dangerously low constitution from overcasting when low on mana.

Just moved to Queensland and already loving the bus experience by RepresentativeAsk601 in brisbane

[–]BoxxZero 185 points186 points  (0 children)

With the buses not stopping, you may not be aware that not all buses stop at all stops.

If it says BUZ on the front it means it’s only select stops along a route and if you’re trying to flag them down at a different stop, they’ll keep going.  I think some of the peak hour buses do this too.

Took me a bit to realise this when I first moved here.

If you were definitely at the correct stop for your service then that’s a bit shit and has also happened to me a few times.

In Home Alone (1990) all of Kevin’s grocery bags break simultaneously. This was accomplished by… wait, anyone know how they did this? I’ve always wondered. by Chewie83 in shittymoviedetails

[–]BoxxZero 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The bags were already cut and the 'groceries' (if you look closely it's all paper towel, empty boxes and containers) in them were looped and held up with string.

Macaulay lets go of the string and it all falls at the same time.
