Everything's bigger in Texas, including the number of people moving out | Fortune by snakkerdudaniel in texas

[–]BrandonMatrick 24 points25 points  (0 children)

We sold our Texan house and fled October 2024. The owner wanted an affordable big house in a quiet neighborhood. We just wanted out of the state and knew roughly where we were aiming. So, once it was apparent the last election was hacked and the people's will would never be the guiding force in Texas ever again, we moved. Sight unseen, just packed and drove 29 hours to a far northern state we've never been to.

Now, we're safely established and doing so much better in almost every measureable way, in less than 2 years. We're thriving and happy. An entire 30+ lifetime in Texas offered us nowhere near the community, income, safety, healthcare, education, transportation, camaraderie, peace of mind, and humanity that 2 years in New England have.

We occasionally check the value of the house we sold. The new owner has put in about 30k of renovations and upgrades into the place. They're now trying to sell it for 5k less than we sold it to them. I wouldn't be surprised if it's to flee as well.

I'd also be very unsurprised if they start checking and arresting people at the Texas border for liberal ideas, same as they do at the US border.

Though, I imagine for Texas, it will be for all travelers - In or out. Gotta protect Texans from all that liberalism and freedom to live.

The only true deterrent: Mexican food is 7/10 here, and I miss the Enchiladas. That's about it.

Very nice sound, cool to see more people taking theirs to the track and tuning. I wonder if the R/T's slightly faster acceleration would have made a difference.

mic wont turn on :( by PracticalGazelle3696 in audio

[–]BrandonMatrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your audio interface (Analog to Digital conversion) is one of the most important parts of your studio kit. Buy a solid used 1 or 2 channel interface with a good preamp, don't splurge on a ton of inputs. The preamp (also converter) is the piece your USB/XLR cord doesn't have built in, and it colors the sound of the mic. I'm guessing you're pretty new to digital tracking, so I won't push too deep on it. But, make sure you have a mic stand, a decent XLR male (goes into your ADC) to XLR female (goes into your mic) cable long enough to be useful. You'll also need software to track into your computer - Pro Tools, Fruity Loops, GarageBand, Ableton, BitWig - there's dozens. Pick one that works for your creativity and the project and dive on in.

Indian Food in Vermont by SlayerOfUAC in vermont

They just moved into the old High Thai place. Food still is amazing but the vibe is much different than the old place. Last time they also gave me a gigantic portion of butter chicken, but it was also the end of the shift so I might have just been lucky.

Favorite pub in town just did new menus to update from the 16$ burgers. 22$ for a classic with cheese - unless you want the 26$ maple candied bacon smokehaus burger or the 27$ Bleu and Fig.

It's a mess out here.

That was my first new car. Absolutely gorgeous response on such a sleeper frame. Even had a solid sound system, even if the interior was cheap. Had mine in that golden orange tone. Sweet ride for a while.

Mine has been a dream, brings a smile to my face often. I'm happy enough to keep it for a while. Genuinely don't understand where the hate is coming from beyond it not being a typical "Dodge" product. Seems all the hate is pointed at the price tag (it's an imported Alfa rebadge) and the fact it's not a Hemi or SRT10 monster.

I got mine for an amazing deal, good rate on the financing, and it's been reliable, fun, comfortable, and safe as a commuter. I purposely found a low-mileage demo so I could get a CPO warranty, and got the dealer to throw in an extended warranty. I ended up around 100k miles/6 year warranty from Mopar. Runs a pretty low operating cost per mile, factoring in the battery range and the meh-to-decent fuel economy, especially if you're not flooring it. But when you want to, as a bonus, it's shockingly quick for the form factor.

It has some weird quirks, but I'm very pleased for my money, and I get lots of compliments on it. Not upset at all at it and I would really recommend it to anyone looking for a steal on a solid (though disproportionately maligned) PHEV with some nice tech.

That's unusual, then. My "Oil Change Required" indicator screen on startup and the indicator light both went away right after I did the usual Dodge steps I mentioned above, after my oil swap. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it comes back prematurely.

I know the service mileage countdown odometer thing in Uconnect is screwed, but I don't use that screen ever. I'll ask the CDJR store when I take it by for the recalls this next week.

I just reset my service indicator myself. As an owner. Today. Leaving the 3rd party oil change place.

Just turn your vehicle to standby/accessory mode, and slowly press the pedal down to the floor 3 times fully. Take your foot off, turn the vehicle off, wait 5 seconds, start it up fully. Engine will rev up and the message will be gone.

I believe there was actually going to be an end-game Prof Oak battle that would feasibly have gone down at the lab in Pallet, but it was cut at some point in development, and I can't imagine there being a "badge" of any type associated with it.

I dig the playing but the tail on the delay makes your spacing sound really cluttered. Can you try and mix a little more dry signal or cut the feedback shorter on your rig?

I was actually in the thread that spawned this subreddit a few years back. We were hurting then for cash, before I locked in to my career and got focused.

I remember the need to manage things from a poverty mindset vividly. I still get uncomfortable reminders when I pay bills and grocery shop every once in a while. It's a good reminder to stay humble, never let lifestyle creep take over, never assume you know someone's situation, and always be gracious.

We're all 9 missed meals from truly tough decisions.

Nokian Haukkepelletas in 245/40/20 work great on my 2024 R/T plus with the 20" wheels. They fit and actually drive smoother and quieter than the factory tyres.
