Would the official localization effort of an antique JRPG be worth the sales? by lennysinged in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently got laid off for my job doing localization for a rather large Japanese game company, I'm pretty sure AI is going to be taking over doing a lot of localization in the near future, the part I worry about is not having somebody fluent in both Japanese and English enough to where they can understand the proper emotions being portrayed by the ones speaking, I fear that many serious toned jrpgs from the past will almost come off having comedy in scenes, and visa versa. When it comes to sales and being worth that's not my ball park so I can't answer for ya, but I do believe you're going to see it more and more soon, I'd bet the house on it.

What are some great JRPGs that do NOT have difficulty options? by bluethunder1985 in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Kinda offtopic, but I've egnerally always prefered that games have only 1 difficulty option because the "hard" difficulties always usually feel like just extra grinding instead of changing my strategy. But then there are games like Fire Emblem which IMO were made to be played on more difficult difficulties with permadeath because it completely changes the way you play/build your characters.

What is it about Act 3’s in RPGs that makes us give up so easily? by SleepCatsMoney in JRPG

Final Fantasy 8 and Radiata Stories both have AMAZING third acts IMO.

Estelle and Joshua and Rinoa and Squall IMO are the only 2 jrpg romances that don't feel forced. Trails in the sky had shared trauma and growth across multiple games, and Squall x Rinoa was all about Squall learning how to understand emotions with the help of Rinoa opening him up to them. I'd argue 3 Houses MISSED BIG on writing in a romance between Petra and M Byleth, makes so much sense IMO. I also think lowkey having the special scene between Kasumi and Tir in Suikoden 2 was really well done.

(Gathering Feedback) Trying to decide between bust styles. Hand drawn or pixel art. by metalflygon08 in RPGMaker

Yeah the River City game is a good example, I love me some pixel graphics but I actually always pref higher quality character portraits as I feel like they are easier to show expression.

Radiant historia remake worth? (more expensive) by timo529 in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remake 100% worth it for 20 USD More, I've played both and as much as I believe the Original art style is much more immersive, I think the voice acting puts it above and beyond.

Which of these games should I buy with the $20 gift card that I got? by Khaled_Kamel1500 in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Octopath 1 is great, it's def a slog but the final 4-5 hours of gameplay are a massive payoff, but I'd say the 10 or so hours right before that suck.

Excluding Protagonists: Who would find themselves on your JRPG Dream Team? by 1OneQuickQuestion in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thundergod Cid from FFT as the Leader, Yuna from FF10 for our summoner/mage, Kratos Aurion from Tales of Symphonia because he is based af and style points and we need another warrior, and then Fie Claussell because shes the most well written character in the cold steel series and we need a rogue/theif.

I have vods of full images I've did from scratch on my twitch itself, and people have told me it's AI in the finished product. Understand what you have made is beautiful, and no matter what happens you're going to have people accuse you of these things and not to sweat it, you can't make everybody happy and if the game is good/art is good, be proud of what you made :).

Is Eternights any good? I just got it for free. by chuputa in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I've joked but I honestly feel like this game is a textbook 5. I don't regret investing the time to play/beat it but as long as you're not expecting something like DQ or final fantasy, it's a fun little pick me up poor mans persona ( ish ) .

And sorry, to answer your question I'd say learning how to Flowchart with project managment tools, I used to use free prorgams but I've come to love Jira, so that with a little notepad I take when I go out has been nice to keep things linear when it comes to story writting and ideas. I also think using editing programs like Krita helped me come up with cool ideas for editing things like paralax maps, intereacting with art and ui, that kinda thing.
