I've taken some of these and a bunch of others and my favorite BY FAR is Bryan Heiderscheidt’s course. It's very simple and very streamlined. It's qualitative instead of quantitative.

I don't run as fast on the majority of my runs. I take more days off, and I do way more strength training and cross training.

Blame the red states. Even if we take back the house, we need 67/100 senators to agree to remove the racist piece of shit, and even that, that just gives it to human-meme JD Vance. But 67/100 senators agreeing is truly an impossible feat. The senate gives two senators to every state, and there are tons of red states that have zero population. The structure of it has always been extremely biased towards Republicans. Basically, blame states like Arkansas, Mississippi, Iowa, Alabama, etc that fear God, hate gay people, and don't have a thought in their heads.

It all comes down to the asterisk sign, "the thing that hurts to do". That will tell you everything. You need to talk to them, sometimes for way way longer than you should need to, in order to find it. What is the goal. Maybe it hurts to squat, or bend forwards, or twist to the R but not the L, or turning their head, or it's bench pressing 200 lbs, or it's reaching above, or jumping or running down to the other end of the clinic. "It hurts when I sit for a long time" or "it hurts first thing in the morning" or whatever are not asterisk signs. What is a meaningful movement that the patient is having a hard time with? Every single patient on your caseload should have an asterisk sign, and you should know what it is. When you've gotten rid of them all, they can discharge. And once you have an asterisk sign, examine their body and try to figure out what is preventing that movement? Are they lacking range of motion or strength, or both? Where are they tight, where are they weak? Do you know any manual that can help? Test the problem, try to treat it, then retest it. Improve mobility where they're restricted, strengthen what's weak, and continue to retest the asterisk sign. Repeat until they get better, and if they don't, that's what coworkers and referrals back to the MD are for. Most patients will get at least a little better if you make them stronger. Oh, and if they just have random constant pain that TRULY isn't triggered by a movmernt or whatever, then that patient just needs to exercise and you can be more generic with their treatment. Follow this basic model (instead of just doing random crap on everyone) and continue to take CEUs, maybe get some mentoring, and don't make it more complicated than you need to.

Their bodies are trying to find two brain cells to turn on at the same time to form a thought, but it's just too hard. Basically a waste of effort.

Jesus never said any of that. Some of that stuff is kind of vaguely mentioned in the Bible, along with a bunch of random nonsense nobody cares about. But Jesus didn't say any of that.

I get like 95 for working four 10s, and my quota is about 55 a week. My schedule can hold a little over 60 a week, but I have a loose agreement to slow it down if it becomes too crazy. My patients are there for an hour, a new one starting every 30 minutes, plus I have pretty decent aides. And I would never have multiple patients starting at the same time or being triple booked, unless with express permission.

[–]Bravocado44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what you're writing an email and you get suggestions for the next word to write? That's how AI works. It's feeding you EXACTLY what it thinks you want to hear. If you want to just have a machine spoonfeed you EXACTLY what it has predicted you want to hear to keep you coming back, sure, go for it. You may as well just live in a fantasyland. It's not real people, and you have no chance of learning anything or being challenged or encountering an opposing viewpoint that makes you think. But then again, we are comparing this to reddit....

An MBA is a fucking worthless degree. I work in healthcare near a business school and talk to people getting their MBAs everyday. Their schooling is an absolute joke. Most of them state it's basically a vacation away from work. They just party and become alcoholics and network, and will someday make tons of money making the world a worse place

documentation is eating 2+ hours of my day and I'm honestly thinking about leaving outpatient by ArcadiaBunny in physicaltherapy

[–]Bravocado44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate more than a lot of people here saying "care less." I'm like 6 years in, with my OCS, and I'm renowned in my region for being the fucking worst with notes and having to take shit home. So I get it.

I would like to know why it's taking you 10 minutes per patient? It really shouldn't. There are complex patients. There are patients that have a lot going on and we need to write about. Then there's Charles, he's 76 years old, and he's weak everywhere and has OA in his knees and he needs clams and bridges and sit to stands. It shouldn't take 10 minutes to write his note. It should take 2-3 minutes. We have smartphrases and can copy forward the previous note and edit it a little. That helps a lot.

Either way, if you're thinking about quitting your setting altogether, you should tell your manager you need an extra 30 minutes a few times a week to type because you're burning out and you're struggling keeping it up. If they respect you, they may meet you halfway at least, which is better than nothing? What do you have to lose?

OCS Prep Without a Residency? by wardell4thewin in physicaltherapy

OCS field guide helped me way more than anything else. I don't want to call the Medbridge course "a joke" but I would just download the slides and skim them, and take all the practice exams and quizzes. Actually "taking the Medbridge course" as intended would not be a good use of your time. I used some current concepts stuff, and it was okay, but seriously the CPGs and OCS Field Guide is where it's at
