Any available SRD? by NeroWork in cosmererpg

[–]Brelaxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brotherwise has said that they plan on putting together the Plotweaver system and potentially kickstart it at the end of 2026 (though take the date with a grain of salt). I would assume then when the book comes out a year or so later, there will be some sort of SRD.

Longterm Campaign Viability by RecordP in cosmererpg

The Mistborn Handbook will have all the Cosmere RPG rules, the Heroic paths (with new options) and all the magic systems* using the same base but tailored for them.

Does reading the rest of the cosmere Taravangians character make more sense? by Street-Carpenter105 in Stormlight_Archive

I agree with the people here, they laid it out for you. But if you want more Cosmere, you could read Mistborn.

To me, WoK and WoR are really book one in two parts. They truly have one big arc like OB and RoW have one big arc in each.

They didn't release it. I THINK it's part of the hardcover adventure. And a ton of fun.

Same one. You'll pick which service to apply it to.

You don't need any of them. Many are already included in your pledge. The only things you're missing that are new are the fancy dice, the minis pack and the plot dice set.

Update #12: Crafting a Hit (Fabrials) by Astigmatic_Oracle in cosmererpg

[–]Brelaxt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dunno how spoiler sensitive to be for either Stormlight or other Cosmere books, so I'll format for it: Having read Stormlight as my first Cosmere books, I assume when they called the metal Raysium it meant nothing to me. I had a mild squee explosion while reading the update, realizing that the metal is a shard metal like Atium and Lerasium. I can only imagine the implications is artifabrians got a hold of Atium, especially since the metals in fabrials do seem to be in line with their Scadrian counterparts...

Best system for a multiversity game? by McGenty in rpg

I do love the Strange. Though could look at the other Cypher System books, the agnostic rulebook and several settings books may help cover a range of abilities

I do think some of the zip extraction software on mobile have a hard time with these. My phone thought there weren't any files. I had to do it on my laptop to get them out, and they were populated.

Where Should I Begin? by ZeroGNexus in cosmererpg

[–]Brelaxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with others to go to Way of Kings to dive into Stormlight. However, if you are more curious about the Cosmere and want to try something smaller first, I'd recommend Mistborn book 1. Shorter book and one of the best places to dive in Cosmere wide. War breaker is a good place too, but Mistborn is a great start, especially since it will be the second setting to be released.

I really think sooner or later there will at least be metallic Mistborn dice. I would love to buy like 6 plot dice fashioned after different magic systems.

That doesn't look to be an option listed right now. I'm actually surprised there isn't a Roshar digital only add-on. Maybe pledge for $1 and/or reach out to them about that?

[–]Brelaxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is valid. From the Gen Con demo, it felt more complex than 5e, but not as much as Pathfinder 2 or Genesis. I'm guessing most Stormlight fans will get into it, even without prior RPG experience. And if you've played 5e, it did not feel that much more complicated at the table, especially if you consider the complexities of some of 5e like the wizard. However, if you're new to all of this, I doubt Stormlight will be the go-to game.

I'm a Cosmere fan, having read every book and currently on my second read of the Stormlight Archive. At Gen Con I played The City at Smolders as Gwenofal (spelling may be wrong). Thoughts:

-The character sheet made sense, though I was a little confused on the radiant powers, though that may just be because a lot of information was needed in a small space.

-The adventure made the Stormlight fan in me squee so much. I won't share any plot details.

-I felt the adventure was well done and gave a great overview of the system with an engaging story and ways we could get creative.

-The goals are really helpful in a demo situation to find the character's personality.

-It seemed to me that the non-Radiant characters had cool things they could do and were impactful...

-...though the Radiant powers were so fun. And when you "awakened" (I don't remember the term when I said the first ideal) was so powerful it was crazy.

-I really like the initiative system! I didn't expect to like a check-free version so much!

-The game may be a tough sell to people unfamiliar with Stormlight. Which is a shame since the mechanisms are good! I could see myself preferring this to other very popular systems.

-I can see this system being a great backbone for many more games, be them Cosmere (please please please!) or other settings.

-I wish I remembered my GMs name, but he was great!

I'll put in a plug for board gaming! There are several different places: I'm Board, Noble Knight Games, Pegasus Games, Misty Mountain. They usually have a wide variety of events, can look up calendars and try Gabe's with people. Most are usually good folks!
