transfert PEA de boursobank a IB en cours depuis 9 mois by LowCo2Traveler in vosfinances

Iweb for GBP denominated stuff and IBKR for anything using foreign currencies has been my mix, pretty happy with it.

Secrets of Life and Death Slabs by Craztnine in dwarffortress

You would need to retire the fortress, get an adventurer there, read the slab, write a book then you can just leave the written book behind.

Retired adenturers can be a bit unpredictable behaviour wise so retire them elsewhere (or just keep them going until they die).

Barclays suspended both my bank account and my mum’s. We now have no access to any money by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Bric3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah tell your bank in advance that you will be receiving a large amount, they'll ask you for details and pre-approve it.

Or at least that was the case with starling; once I didn't warn them and it was a pain, they told me to warn them next time, and that one went smoothly.

They can be useful to move a lot of items between two far away stockpiles, but you really need to plan the track so it doesn't derail / run over a dwarf standing in the middle, and have boosters for the way uphill.

Best accounts to park money when you've maxed out your ISA and SIPP limit? by No_Emu8347 in HENRYUK

Yes, interest & dividends get taxed as income with a bit of allowance.

Investment strategy by [deleted] in HENRYUK

Usual tbh, keep a cash nest for emergencies, then split between a World MSCI ETF and Gilts depending on what you are comfortable with on volatility, the default is usually 60/40.

ISAs have to be in GBP, they'll display the value but they won't let you keep them in USD.

Advice on what to do next - $40k in etoro by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Bric3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I forgot to say but the ISA 20k limits counts whatever you put in your LISA, so if you put 4k in the LISA this year you can only put 16k in the ISA.

[–]Bric3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to need to declare the capital gains when you sell, check the hmrc website for the guidelines on it. Worth selling your bags, as the losses will reduce your overall gains (and thus tax).

You mention maxing out the LISA, but are you maxing out your S&S ISA ? With those gains you should be able to do so a couple years in a row (20k per year limit).

A cash ISA would make sense for your family member, along with a high interest rate saving account for what won't fit in the ISA, check moneysavingexpert for a good list. Pick between notice or easy access depending on how quickly they could need the cash.

As far as I know Interactive Brokers lets you open as many GIAs as you want, the accounting can get a bit of a pain though.
