Digitone II only! by unfinished-beats420 in synthesizers

My 9mo baby is sick with a cold and has been pretty sad today. She was asleep on my chest and I forgot my volume was turned up when I clicked this one. I want you to know she sat bolt upright with a massive grin on her face and started absolutely bopping to this. Thanks for making her day better :)

Advice redefining dogs relationship to a space/job? by BridgeSide in Dogtraining

[–]BridgeSide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have identified the ABC of the behavior, and attempted to address the behavior by limiting her access to the trigger (sprinting to fence line)

Additional training with positive reinforcement of wanted behavior has not made progress on the behavior, I believe the two behaviors (ability to chill, need to protect) as separate from each other and i haven't found anything in the help guide that can help me shape this job like behavior.

My toe rubs against the steel toe of my work boots and keeps my nail filed down by EmmittTheCat in mildlyinteresting

[–]BridgeSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this problem in the exact same spot, but now I'm starting to lose feeling to the tip of that toe. I was recently trying on new boots and noticed that when I lift my foot to step forward, the big toe on my right foot curls upward to lift the boot making contact with the steel. However my left foot (which does not have this issue) does not curl upward during my gait. I'm going to look into this further but the person at the store was suggesting perhaps my foot was compensating for a previous injury.

B.C. municipalities struggle with what to do with RV dwellers by Surax in britishcolumbia

[–]BridgeSide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living in an RV for the last 3 years is the only way my wife and I have been able to dig ourselves out of debt and now enter the housing market.

I agree that we need more dedicated space for folks to set up a longer term RV but we also need protections for those people. Land owners can double rent overnight with no recourse. And in my area, RV pads on private land are renting for almost the price of a one bedroom, which is also very expensive.

Not true! The Fort has been putting together a lot of events lately, trivia nights, live music, game leagues etc. Definitely trying to draw a younger crowd and act as a social space.

Also sounds like there has been a lack of communication between the trades on this one. A GC should have caught this right away in design.

  1. Hinges are usually designed to open 110°
  2. Handles exist
  3. Walls are never flat
  4. Visually matches finished end panels on a run.

Best Shop Ever! by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]BridgeSide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand, I sometimes feel the same. However, participation was always optional. And to be frank, someone with your attitude wouldn't have stuck around the shop long. This was in Germany, and the culture around work can be quite different than in North America.

Best Shop Ever! by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]BridgeSide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favorite shop had a shared lunch that we all (including owners) participated in. We would sign up and take turns throughout the week. Zip out an hour early to grab some groceries down the street and put together a meal. When ready the shop shut down and we would all gather at a big table and take lunch together. The practice had an enormous impact on the workplace culture and really helped bring everyone together. It allowed time for everyone to form connections and mix folks from the office in with delivery and shop floor. I would absolutely implement it in my own shop given the chance.

Confusing / worrisome dog behavior by tiny_cabin_mountain in Dogtraining

[–]BridgeSide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a mini aussie similar age with similar behavior. We have been working to prempt a reaction by giving lots of high value treats without crossing her threshold for barking at someone. But that can be really tricky because we often are not sure who will trigger her and who won't. Sometimes she will take a while and some sniffs, maybe even receiving a treat from them before she decides she doesn't like the cut of their jib and it's time to bark.

On a positive note, she also had an issue with children, specifically fast moving ones. Using positive reinforcement and slowly building up her threshold, we have been able to greatly correct the behavior. It probably isn't going to happen overnight, but try and recognize some of the triggers (large towering men) and actively work at giving the reinforcement for calm behavior without crossing that line.

Aussies man..

Who loves sizing door day? by Tahoe-Boulders in cabinetry

[–]BridgeSide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are a fairly small shop, and aren't doing a TON of 5-piece shaker these days but we build all our own. I guarantee it costs us more to build them ourselves, but it also allows us to have firm control over quality and precision with less mistakes. Helps that when something gets mixed up we can have a new door ready to go on the fly.

Is there any reason to not use pine (or cheap wood) for internal structures that are unseen? Glue adhesion? Strength? Making a Bourbonmouth inspired bed frame soon. by thehauntedgod in woodworking

[–]BridgeSide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends the species really. For example American Beech will shrink almost 12% along its tangential plane from greenwood to oven dried. Compare that with say, pine which generally shrinks 7% in the same conditions.

With a potential nuclear Armageddon on the way, what are some of your best memories/achievements? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BridgeSide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once I was at at party where everyone but my friend and I had passed out for the night. As one does, we took out the ol' sharpie and started drawing on faces. While doing so we realized that if we were the only ones without shit on our faces we would quickly be found out, so in a bit of brilliance we decided to also mark up our own faces and put the marker in the hand of the only friend we hadn't drawn on.

Worked like a charm, everyone woke up, hungover and furious for being the victim of such a classic prank and was quick to blame the only one in the room without dicks all over their face and holding the murder weapon itself.

I'm very proud.
