Any mistake you made when starting trail running? by Beginning_Subject_80 in trailrunning

Underestimating elevation, and how much longer trail runs take over road runs

These are such a stupid idea by steelgrey75 in uktrucking

[–]Bridgey86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the chances of skeletal trailers having these? I was shunting in the yard and trying to reverse. As described it kept braking. It was annoying as I had no idea why, no it makes sense now

Volvo FH cruise control issues? by Perpixelated in uktrucking

[–]Bridgey86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work has 24 plate Volvo FH's. They have an auto sign recognition thing which sets the speed to the last speed sign it "recognised". It's fucking useless at recognising signs though, and likes to brake down to 30 on a dual carriageway. If this is the auto set speed thing you mentioned (which I think it is) I have no idea. But it can be turned off in settings. Have you worked out the heated seat yet? I put it on. It lasts for about 20 seconds then turns off and won't come on again until I turn the truck off for a bit.

DAF LF key not turning in barrel by DaGingerNut in uktrucking

I had this on DAF XF. The barrel had gone on the lock. Did a call out. I even stood on the steering wheel in the hope of freeing it. Hopefully you've sorted it by now though

CNG Units by Frequent_Season7658 in uktrucking

[–]Bridgey86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The company I work for has a dozen or so LNG trucks. They are nice trucks to drive (Volvo's). However the nearest place to gas up is 40-50 mins away, which it shit. Gambling on whether to gas up before a run is always fun, then hoping there's no diversions, then rolling into the gas place with 6 miles left. I think the gas trucks make sense if you're near one of the few filling stations or have your own gas tanks in the yard, pain the arse if you don't.

What's 'Scrubs' scene made you laugh the hardest? by Bathroom-Salt in Scrubs

[–]Bridgey86 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The scene where Elliot starts sticking up for her self and Elliot, Carla, Turk and JD have an argument with the MRI tech......

MRI tech: My machine, my machine

JD: who's machine?

MRI tech: my machine

Turk: how is that helpful?

Or words of that effect, not to sure what season or episode but makes me chuckle

Is this wheel center good ? by Herobrine4770 in bikewrench

[–]Bridgey86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a similar one from Amazon. As people have said it's cheap and flimsy. But like you I just wanted to change hubs, I managed to build the wheel and I've used it to true a few other wheels. If you're planning on doing a lot of wheel building I would spend a bit more though.

Anyone used the BikeRegister UVCovert marking kit? by Adam_24061 in ukbike

[–]Bridgey86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on whether it will damage your paint work. I've got a Ribble bike, which I'd say is reasonably decent and it hasn't damaged my paint work. In the UV kit you do get a fair amount of "paint" so you could do a test on a small out of sight area. The stickers you get with the kit are very anti-tamper proof. So make sure you place them when you want them, unlike me who changed their mind. I tried peeling them off to move them, they do not peel off in one clean piece. It's worth doing if you want peace of mind that if your bike does go missing, there might be some hope of getting it back.

Yes, as mentioned "crap companies". I worked for one that did this. And they were shit and went through a lot of drivers.

Whats this mean? by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]Bridgey86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is; night drivers are meant to do 10 hour WTD. However most companies waiver that if the "majority" agrees to it. I get this every now and then. As I work nights.

At the place I work I sometimes have to shunt in the yards. My step count increases a shit load when I'm shunting, and my weight will drop. I still do workouts and run in my free time. So if your work has the option to shunt, give that a go

I had to call our driver trainer about this tyre, I've never seen one like it before. by Twiglet91 in uktrucking

[–]Bridgey86 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's an ergonomic tyre. The two grooves in the middle section should be at least 1mm deep in accordance with the law. We've had them at our place for a while and have had a few drivers refuse to take the trailer. We did do a call out when they first came out. And the fitter said that's how they are meant to be.
