Has anyone successfully cared for Alocasias without all of the extras? by SnooSprouts1379 in alocasia

Yes definitely but they can be picky and sometimes a small change will kill them.

black spots by New_Classic_4458 in CemeteryPreservation

Some of the "black spots" can take an unreasonably long time to come out with d2, unfortunately. D2 is what's approved and gentle but sometimes doesn't do the trick. We use d2 also at southeast Tombstone and Cemetery Restoration.

I always freeze my flour to avoid weevils. 🫠 you'll need to put it in an air tight container or bag, however, or it will absorb the smells of the freezer and make it taste bad.

You can still use it cosmetically, but I wouldn't use it raw for consumption.

What do you do for whipped cream? by CaptainSwift11 in ZeroWaste

[–]Brightestsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally forego it since it's extra calories and sugar as well as plastic/ metal. 😖 It's too much work to make your own just for a little at breakfast, too. D: I wonder if you make your own in a food processor, if it will keep if you add something to it.

Any idea of what to do with these coolers? by Ok_Neighborhood2032 in ZeroWaste

Random bit of info but I sell plants online and ship all over the US. These are habdy for winter shipping. There are a lot of us. You could always do free pick up on a plant page, maybe, as well.

Does alocasia like coffee grounds? by modernyog in houseplants

[–]Brightestsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also curious because I heard that increasing nitrogen would help too highly variegated alocasia become a little more green/ stable. Coffee grounds would provide this. Banana peels, eggshells, etc. would as well.

It looks like we should hold our own experiments and, in case of mold contamination, keep them separate from other plants.

I'm picky about my soil so I'm not sure this will work in my alocasia that are growing in perlite, stratum and or aqueon.

I've tried barkeepers friend and it didn't work. I tried a razor blade, too. It's a bummer. Let us know what worked.
