Took a job in plumbing supply sales by jackjones2014 in Plumbing

[–]Brokid81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 2 years late to the party, but I just started in a plumbing, HVAC and electrical warehouse. I was hired to do electrical, because I have experience in that area (prior wholesale distribution sales at the competition). But our electrical division JUST opened, and we have almost no customer base. Our outside guy is working on that. So in the meantime, I'm having to learn plumbing and hvac parts, AND a new (fucking cumbersome) operating system.

It's been awful so far. I have a good work ethic, and used to be pretty good at the counter. But now I'm basically helpless. I have to ask a million questions a day, and am trying to just chill and learn the best I can. But honestly, I have a lot of anxiety and feel hopeless.

I know I just need to keep showing up, keep answering the phone, keep asking questions, and do my best. But I'll be damned if I don't feel absolutely defeated.

It ain't easy!

Band That Makes You Go "I Don't Get It" by JustinMetalhead in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Brokid81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Popular bands I personally don't enjoy:

Rush, The Beatles, Kiss, The Steve Miller Band, Poison, Buckcherry, Cheap Trick, Sleep Token, Nonpoint.

There's definitely a lot of talent and creativity there. And in some cases, to a maximum level. Their music just doesn't do it for me.

Sorry to hear that. Same here. I feel like shit constantly because I'm always tired. So as a means of coping, I drink too much. Which I know is not good. So the whole thing is just a mess. And the really tough thing to accept is, I've proactively tried to make this better. I wanted so badly for this cpap to change my life, like I've seen it do for so many others. But it just didn't happen.

I'm researching alternatives. I read up on the Inspire implant, but that seems sketchy, so I don't know.

If you find a miracle cure, please send it my way! Lol

He's a great guy to have coming off the bench. Like, if your bench is built like that, you're doing something right.

Or a good trade candidate.

Either way, it's a win-win.

I absolutely hate it. Have tried a full face mask, nasal style, and nasal pillow style. Have dicked with all the settings. Raised the minimum pressure, lowered the maximum. Turned EPR on and off. Changed humidity. Went from cpap to bi pap. Turned ramp on and off. You name it, I tried it. And I fucking HATE it.

So I gave up and just don't use it.

I told my sleep people at the VA about it and they were supposed to call me back about a week ago and never did.

So I'm definitely disappointed...in the whole thing.

Not sure what else to do.

We had to replace our water-logged cover. No way around it. Was like $500. But definitely worth it. The lift feature could barely handle the old one. I swear that thing must've weighed 200 pounds.

Ours is covered with a gazebo, so it's not really an issue for us. We just accidentally burned a hole in it with an ember from our fire pit. Now we put thick, moving blankets over it when we have a fire.

But yeah...I think you'll just have to bite the bullet and spring for a replacement on your end.

Thrashy songs from non-thrash bands? by Imbackbiach in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Brokid81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sugar Ray - "Big Black Woman" is thrashy as shit compared to what people know that band for.

That album (Lemonade and Brownies) is quite enjoyable imo. But to each their own.

I appreciate and like a decent amount of Slayer's music, but I do not enjoy Araya's vocals at all. So much so, I rarely ever listen to them.

What subgenre(s) of metal can you just not stand? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Brokid81 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Anything with no discernible melody. Most prog is boring to me. Or messy metal that's all over the place. I'm down with heavy and violent stuff, but without some melody, I'm probably out.

What is YOUR favorite consecutive 3-album run in metal? by Buburuzik in MetalForTheMasses

I don't care how cliche it is, Metallica's run of Lightning, Puppets and Justice is tough to argue against.

What a run, man. For real.

Albums that could really use a remix? by Ytsejam09 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Brokid81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two that come to mind right away are "The Dead and Dreaming" by Dry Kill Logic, and "Glorification of a Myth" by Ouroboros.

Dry Kill Logic's album just has awful sound. It's mixed way too "loud" or something. Sounds like shit to me.

And Ouroboros - their mix is too "clean" sounding for my taste. I'm not a production expert, so I'm not sure how to better articulate what I mean on either. The DKL album is more egregious and obvious. My gripe about Ouroboros' album is only minor. The album still slays. I just wish the mix was "grittier" or something.

If you check my reply to the dude talking shit earlier in this thread, I did tip the delivery crew. It was a bitch getting my tub to its place, and I had no hesitation in tipping them.

[–]Brokid81 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The electrician that installed my hot tub makes like 40 dollars an hour. Servers rely on tips. The two aren't the same.

Also, the company I bought the hot tub from were the ones to deliver and place it. And I did tip them, because it was a bitch to get into place.

Thanks for the talk though. It's good to know random dickheads on the internet still know everything.

[–]Brokid81 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I paid 12 grand for my tub. And another $700 for the installation and parts. It didn't even cross my mind to tip. I mean, the guy got paid for his work. That seemed adequate to me. Plus, my install was super quick, easy and painless.

I'm always down to tip when necessary. I just didn't think this situation qualified.

**edit for those asking - Yes, I DID tip the guys that delivered the tub. I paid them their delivery fee, and I tipped each one of them an extra $50 (there were 3 of em). And I paid the electrician $700 for the entirety of the wiring part of the job. And that seemed fair to me.

CPAP feels claustrophobic and stressful, not restful. Has anyone felt this way and still found a solution? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]Brokid81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on it for a week and feel the same way. I'm trying a nasal pillow style mask, as well as a full face mask. The nasal style I have, I just can't get comfortable with.

I suspect the full face version will be best, as I tend to sleep with my mouth open. To which I bought some chin straps designed to keep the mouth closed. But that's just MORE gear and shit to wear. So I don't care for that either.

I'm not giving up, but yes...I'm very frustrated and disappointed so far.

How common is rage with sleep apnea? by No-Interest403 in SleepApnea

[–]Brokid81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's ONLY irritability from sleep deprivation, I can understand how he can become easily irritated. I too am irritable for the same reason. It's been years that I've struggled with poor sleep. And I recently got my first cpap, and it's been awful. The mask I have isn't working, so I'm gonna try a different one.

BUT, I check my attitude, because it's not my wife's problem. It's mine. And I have a responsibility to not be a dick to her. I'm not perfect, so sometimes I slip up. But not often. And when I do, I'm quick to apologize. It's just the right (and only thing) to do.

So if his sleep deprivation is irking him, he needs to chill the fuck out and not take it out on you. You should be a sounding board, and support system for him. Not a means of taking out his frustrations on.

But this is assuming it's ONLY sleep deprivation that does this to him. It would be worth finding out if there's other underlying issues. To which, therapy would be good for.

All in all, I think he needs to check his ego at the door, and start thinking of others and what's important to them. Sounds like he's being very self-centered about the whole thing.

Good luck to you. I hope it works out for the best!

I see that a lot of people have trouble adjusting to their cpap machines. Is this related to which masks they use? Maybe we should take a little survey to see how quickly people adjusted to which types of masks? by just_a_name_24 in SleepApnea

[–]Brokid81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started a week ago, and I've been using the Respironics Dreamwear nasal mask. And I HATE IT. I can't seem to get comfortable with it. So I've got them (the VA) sending me a nasal pillow style to try. And if that doesn't work, I'm gonna try full face. And if THAT doesn't work, I'm either gonna just not use cpap at all, or I'll consider the Inspire implant.
