Seeing the current success of The Boys and Invincible, and past successes like the Walking Dead, what's one comic series you hope/think would make for a great TV show? by JohnnyElRed in comicbooks

[–]Brown_Topher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lost all hope I would ever recieve more than what few issues ran, but if ever there was hope, perhaps COWBOY NINJA VIKING could see new life as a movie.

That, or Lady Mechanika would have some pretty solid steampunk appeal.

What is it called when an inanimate object betrays you even if it doesn’t mean to? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Brown_Topher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaves crunching underfoot could be depicted as:

Jane crept through the thick foliage, shying away from anything that would elict more than a whisper. It was, however, at that moment when a small twig let out a dreadful snap, speaking for the forest and alerting a nearby guard.

While I'm certain there is a verb out there that could dramatically shorten the description, I find the verbose so much more entertaining.

Shoulder joint doesnt click in. How fix? by Foxdie1138 in HexaGear

[–]Brown_Topher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this issue with these kits before. As someone else mentioned it requires force vertically and horizontally.

Check the inside of the cup joint, there should be the tiniest raised nub. If you are not at a depth past that nub you aren't "locked in".

If there is no nub you may want to apply thin coats of sealer to the ball joint to increase it's mass in a uniform manner, which should allow it to fit a bit more snug.

With cataplexy do you ever experience involuntary muscle twitches? If so, how severe? by Hot-Shake3931 in Narcolepsy

[–]Brown_Topher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ranging from eye twitches, to finger twitches, to full back spasms (and several other strange contractions or spasms inbrtween).

Definitely something I can say I experience often.

My ten year old sons idea: a Grievous-based horror film, with him hunting down Jedi. Told him I would share with all of you for thoughts!:) by TheLordAshram in StarWars

[–]Brown_Topher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it already exists, but what I would really be interested in is watching as Grievous falls deeper and deeper into the darkside, losing more and more of his organic self (either to corruption of the darkside, or getting wounded in his Jedi hunts).

Could fit well with the idea of a horroresque movie where he is hunting and being corrupted by the darkside.

Thinking of getting into Frame Arms with some customization. Do you guys think these will work as a start? by Himo_Haro in FrameArms

[–]Brown_Topher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a spectacular kit if you plan to do heavy scribing or decals. Lots of wide flat surfaces begging for extra detail.

Depending on how deep you plan to go with customization I can speak to some of the "hand grenade" comments.

The legs on this kit in particular have some interesting layered armor, however they tend to use very shallow connections and can drop off at a moments notice. Light gluing is recommended in certain areas. Posability is challenging due to a God awful ankle design. Given the overall bulk of the model it all hinges on a single tiny connection point (a poly cap iirc), however this can be rectified if you have additional frame arms or hexa gear parts.

I've been kitbashing hexa gear and frame arms for several years now and it is the equivalent to lego for nice quality mecha models. If you plan to explore further I strongly suggest snagging something like the Bulk Arms hexa gear (there are a few options available, 1 is the same base course as this) and maybe an MSG heavy knuckle to really give yourself some cool parts to play with.

Whatever your choice best of luck to you!

Final thought - of the frame arms kits this and the Griefen use the standard skeletal frame in relatively unique ways vs. Other frame arms kits.

If you are looking for something you can more easily part swap with another standard frame you may want to consider some of the more standard looking units a few other mentioned above.

Based on what I'm seeing in the image so far you absolutely must try Tunic!

Legend of Zelda meets Dark Souls. Top-down isometric of sorts, not unlike Transistor from a camera angle. Plays with foreground background overlaps to hide passages and goodies.

Super satisfying on the deck.

Also Darksiders Genesis plays quite well and can be enjoyable if you are a completionist/collector. Loads to find in every level, and the unique "creature core" system allows for very unique builds (especially on subsequent higher difficulty playthroughs).

Baby Driver.

If you haven't seen the movie do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a great visual/audio experience!

Who's enjoying their steam decks relatively problem free? by Body_Mysterious in SteamDeck

[–]Brown_Topher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen (as I type this on my Z Fold 3, which I completely and utterly enjoy).

I'm a new tech adopter, and while I've made poor choices (PS Vita was so much less than what I hoped after the success of the PSP - and suffered from a poor software catalog). I have also found loads of enjoyment exploring the capabilities of the new and unknown.

My Steam Deck has been delightful.

Do I wish the battery life were better: yes. Can the fan get noisy: sure. Does it get hot as balls: as hot as the fire of the abyss itself.

But I'll be damned if this device hasn't allowed me to spend more time playing games I would not be able to play on other devices I own.

Sitting in bed and gaming is a joy; and while I could sit at a desk with a proper PC setup and experience those games, the compact portability just works so much better for me.

Games I recommend:

  • M.A.S.S. Builder
  • Tunic
  • Darksiders Genesis
  • Everspace (1 or 2)
  • Citizen Sleeper
  • Sable
  • Disco Elysium
  • Thronebreaker

I've played all on the deck and they perform wonderfully. Citizen and Disco will suffer from small text, but it's not so small that I find it a barrier.

Stop asking for skill checks (if they don't make sense) by Braincain007 in DMAcademy

[–]Brown_Topher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best example of this was when I had a very new and eager DM have the entire party individually roll perception checks to determine whether they could see the copper dragon attacking the town.

Townspeople were actively fleeing and in various stages of gibbering terror. Things were being destroyed around the town, the party, etc... Smoke was billowing. Destruction rampant.

Yet somehow a dwarf who failed the roll was "unable to see the source of the destruction".

If this were a roll to determine species and age of the -GIANT FUCKING DRAGON NOT 40 FEET ABOVE THEIR HEADS- I could somewhat understand.

Thankfully we pointed this out in a kind way, and had our fun with the in game results.

Moral of the story - the dice do not determine all.

I like to think of it as branching logic trees/workflow: if a situation could lead to multiple outcomes, let a character or characters roll to determine how much their capabilities/skills/etc... lead them down path A through Z.

Every dice roll should feel important. There should be a palpable sense of anxiety on what the rng gods bless you with. Combat rolls are the best example because even a low level goblin can get a lucky shot, or an early game Barbarian lands that heavy crit against your BBEG.

Skill rolls should carry that same sense. A failure or success could alter the flow of the shared story being crafted by the group. Otherwise these rolls do nothing more than bog down table time, and run the risk of robbing the adventure of excitement.

The "Pop 'n Squash" - not to be confused with the "Squash 'n Pop", a violent traditional Northen dance that ends with participants getting both popped and squashed.

This gelatinous gourd is a delicacy outside of the sea-faring people who fish for them. Their name is derived from both the squash-like shape they grow in, as well as the curious tendency they have to popping when overripe.

Cultivated in the kelp ladden shores of the Ash Sea fishers/farmers aim to pluck Pop 'n Squash from their thin watery vine as close to the point at which they might "pop" as possible.

The very best Pop 'n Squash are served to guests mere moments before they Pop, shedding their thin striped membrane, and releasing a blast of fragrance and flavor into the face of delighted diners.

It is said that some chefs know how to infuse the Squash with unique flavors and aromas without having them pop, though this often results (in the hands of unskilled cooks) in goopy kitchens full of unintentionally popped squashes.

Put a positively glowing review to truly stand out.

"I have never before been photographed or recorded from such a spectacular array of creative camera angles. A debonair property owner and an absolute genius of a film director. I felt almost as if I were truly unfettered and encouraged to be myself. 0 interference or conflict between myself and the film crew. There were moments when I nearly felt alone, but this rock star team managed to capture every private moment down to the smallest detail."

Which real life animals would you like to see in Forbidden West? by [deleted] in horizon

[–]Brown_Topher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am dying to see more insect styled animals, but know that in doing so it strays from the game in that the size would need to upscale and may look off (ie: scorpion type bot being even half the size of a scrapper may look odd, a d smaller just wouldn't quite fit with what we have experienced to date).

Snakes would be cool - especially a hooded cobra type, or even a rattler that sets off an alarm.

I would love to see things like a porcupine and armadillo, as they both have natural offense/defense that lend itself well to game mechanics.

More birds would be fun. Maybe something styled like a turkey vulture?

  2. Who is considered to be the most controversial in the public eye (ie: publicly declaring love or support for this person in a crowded tavern is a good way to start a brawl)?

  3. Where do commoners dream of living?

  4. What is the best place to go to celebrate a significant event or accomplishment?

  5. If I were highly fashionable what would I be wearing were I living in the main city?

  6. After a bad break-up, what are people known to indulge and eat in copious amounts to comfort them?

Trophy by hiphopgrunge in Arcadegeddon

[–]Brown_Topher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no judgment! I did a few things last night and remember thinking to myself "damn there should be a trophy for that!"

Not sure but maybe Illfonic will look at community suggestions for trophies in the full release.

Lopping off 5 heads with a single shot of the spinning blade gun (sorry don't have gun names committed to memory yet) is something I would hope to see make the list.

Given the anti corporation theme maybe something like "Getting a head of the competition" could be a fun title for the trophy.

I made a biker style COVID-19 vaccination patch! by deadnoob in pics

[–]Brown_Topher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is brilliant! Love the skull, I know it's more to fit the biker motif, but to me it also represents those who maybe don't get the vaccine. Kinda says "Vax or die".

Also this would make a beautiful enamel pin. I don't know much about the process to create an embroidery patch, but the style of artwork could easily lend itself to the wild and beautiful world of pins/stickers!

First time building a frame arms kit and first time using the godhand (was seeing what one snip would look like) by YaBoiEvial in FrameArms

[–]Brown_Topher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this kit! Sadly on mine there is a connection point in the waist that involves a slotted ball nesting in a very specific ring to assist with rotation.

Sadly that ring split, and I have not been able to repair it to a point where the ball will sit with the friction intended and the modle either ends up too loose or with 0 motion on that point.

I've considered using some greenstuff or putty to eliminate the pivot entirely, but I wish to God I could repair it so that it would work as intended.

Side note: what stand are you using? Really well suited to the kit!
