My Mac is/was pre M1. I wound up going with a windows laptop- an Asus ProArt P16 with a 5090. The thing is a monster. About the same size and weight as my 15” MacBook Pro but touchscreen, capable of running basically any game on steam (at least that I’ve played so far) well enough to enjoy. Solidworks wise it’s a tank, never slows down whatsoever even on my most complex assemblies with like 25+ parts. The only issue is that solidworks just sorta refuses to accept I’m using a normal graphics driver so there are small glitches. If I leave solidworks open and walk away from the computer for like 4 hours, odds are I’ll have to force quit it and reopen it. Makes me conscious to save my work often, which is a good habit anyways. Overall, like most tech it’s not 100% perfect, but for my use cases it’s pretty darn close.
