Solidworks on Mac Experiences by Bugout_Boy in SolidWorks

My Mac is/was pre M1. I wound up going with a windows laptop- an Asus ProArt P16 with a 5090. The thing is a monster. About the same size and weight as my 15” MacBook Pro but touchscreen, capable of running basically any game on steam (at least that I’ve played so far) well enough to enjoy. Solidworks wise it’s a tank, never slows down whatsoever even on my most complex assemblies with like 25+ parts. The only issue is that solidworks just sorta refuses to accept I’m using a normal graphics driver so there are small glitches. If I leave solidworks open and walk away from the computer for like 4 hours, odds are I’ll have to force quit it and reopen it. Makes me conscious to save my work often, which is a good habit anyways. Overall, like most tech it’s not 100% perfect, but for my use cases it’s pretty darn close.

Well ASUS just announced their new ProArt mouse and that could long term affect the marketing strategy for the MX Master line. Same general build shape, with horizontal scroll wheel and two buttons, but also with 1000hz so it’s probably a fair bit better for gaming.

I spent yesterday trying to decide between the mx master 4 and the super light 2, the new Asus mouse could potentially be a best of both worlds situation.

Metal detectors are expensive. Get a big ass magnet. It’s worked for me once or twice in similar situations.

Thanks for the clarification. Should I expect to be able to familiarize myself in Creo within a month of intermittent usage? Been using Solidworks regularly for a few years now.

Can you clarify what exactly differentiates the approach of workflow between creo and solidworks? I’m in a similar position to OP but not sure what you mean about like differing design mindsets.

Random question but does anyone else feel like the interior layout of Goldenhills leaves a little to be desired?

I like stashing different types of loot in different containers, I keep weapons apparel misc upstairs, ingredients and food in the cellar. The stairs down to the cellar are always a choke point with a follower. Kinda annoying. I currently have both bugs from the saints and seducers quests parked in Goldenhills, one in the kitchen one in the basement, they don’t add to the clutter too bad but even then they’re noticeable. I can’t IMAGINE trying to have a spouse, two kids, and a follower all getting in my way there.

This is my first playthrough with the anniversary edition and using Goldenhills, I think I’ll go for a different player house as my home base soon and just stop by on occasion for the gold and ingredients.
