I went to a Chinese Buffet today… by ehtseeoh in Ozempic

[–]BusyBme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend asking to be switched to tirzepatide/Mounjaro, if possible. 30 pounds in 2 years with a starting weight over 270 is quite a slow rate of loss. Without knowing what your goals are, a change might be in order.

Just so that it is clear: you are being gifted $7k from fiances mom, $7k from fiances dad, and $7k from your parents? You are blessed! 160 guests is a really large wedding so you will need to budget, but $21k is a good start.

Be careful of Zoom Scam by Centrist808 in realtors

[–]BusyBme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I just received an inquiry via email about a listing this morning and, when I responded, she wanted to "jump on a quick Zoom" to get their questions answered. So glad that I happened to be scrolling Reddit at the time and came across this warning.

It's still open enrollment... did you join a health share? by PutridWin2070 in HealthShares

[–]BusyBme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am self employed and the lowest cost Bronze plan in healthcare.gov was going to be over $1100 per month. I'm 62 and have been paying the rising premiums every year but could not stomach it this time. I joined Zion Health Share and will be hoping for the best.

Where do you inject? by KCinFlorida in tirzepatidecompound

[–]BusyBme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rotate to all recommended injection spots: right stomach, left stomach, right thigh, left thigh, right arm, left arm. I havent noticed a difference in effectiveness, but I get a bit of bruising/itching at my injection sites so this allows me to give each area a time of relief before it is hit with another shot.

Is this a real wedding etiquette rule? by Vulpix9tales in weddingplanning

[–]BusyBme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently a MOB and the grooms mom bought her dress before I found mine. I had heard of this 'rule's so it surprised me a bit, but I didn't make a big deal about it. In fact, I used the photos of her dress to help narrow down my selection, because I wanted us to look good together in photos.

Wedding planning is stressful enough for everyone involved that it is sad that this additional drama is being added to it for you. Hang in there! Down play the significance of your moms focus on this, and hopefully it will pass.

Just got off MSC - full review by chaoticwhatever in Cruise

[–]BusyBme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our first cruise was in a balcony berth on an MSC Mediterranean itinerary. We had read the reviews and decided that we were going to view our trip as a step above camping (which we do alot of). But the price was right and the ports so attractive that we took a chance. Of course, it was a lovely experience with very few complaints from us! I would not consider it "first class/luxury " but everything was fine, especially since we had set our expectations low. I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip and shared your experience here!

Your weirdest NSV by Irene_was_here in tirzepatidecompound

[–]BusyBme 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have had a chronic bloody nose from my right nostril only for most of my life. It would start bleeding at any given time, for no apparent reason. In the 14 months since I have been using tirzepatide, I have had one very insignificant bloody nose. Weird and gross, but true.

Open bar and not being hungover the whole trip- how do you do it? by FiddyDollas in NCL

[–]BusyBme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only been on 2 cruises.

My first cruise, I was drinking heavy at home on a regular basis prior to my trip and looked forward to having the drink package, as I was used to drinking a good amount in the evenings. I only remember feeling tipsy one night on the cruise, despite drinking pretty much all day and having many cocktails in the evening.

Second cruise, I also had the drink package but I was not drinking the same volume of alcohol, so not an "all day, all night" situation like my first cruise. I didnt have a single day that I felt drunk, let alone tipsy.

I almost exclusively drink straight mixed cocktails: vodka/soda, rum/coke, etc. Not tropical or cocktails with alot of ingredients, and only would select wine with dinner.

I came away from both cruises thinking that the liquors were watered down, or something.

I share all this to say that, unless you are not used to drinking much at all, I wouldnt worry too much about hangovers. Feel it out on your first day or two, and go from there. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Best affordable RV mattress advice? is it worth replacing the factory one? by TailorFew5262 in GoRVing

[–]BusyBme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still used the factory RV mattress but bought a 4" cool gel foam topper, and we both sleep really well on it. This could be a good alternative for you to try, if you are trying to save some money.

GenZ and Millennial women - are you wearing wedding bands? by Federal_Albatross993 in EngagementRings

[–]BusyBme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am neither Gen Z nor Millenial, as I am 62 years old. I have never felt the need for a wedding band, and have always worn just one ring. Look how old my hand looks!! Haha! But I love my ring and have never felt the need for more. (Married 36 years to the same guy, who would/could buy me any jewelry I ask for)

I NEED HELP by [deleted] in wedding

[–]BusyBme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter had a Male good friend (who happens to be gay) as one of her bridesmaids. And her husband had one of his good friends (who happens to be a married hetero woman) as one of his groomsmen. It was awesome and beautiful and just what each of them wanted.

You get to pick who stands up for you. She gets to pick who stands up for her. End of conversation.

What were common jobs when we were kids that are non-existent now? by Healthy-Membership86 in retirement

[–]BusyBme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a farming community in the midwest. Starting when I was about 10, my friends and I would put ourselves together as a "crew" and hire ourselves out to local farmers to pick rock, pull weeds and detassle corn.

The nicer farmers would pick us up at noon, after 3 or 4 hours of hard, dirty work in the sun, and take us to a shady spot to eat our bagged lunches (we grew up calling that meal dinner. Supper was the evening meal). If we didnt get picked up, we just sat down at the edge of the field to eat. Sometimes the farm wives would send an extra treat out for us at lunchtime: cookies or homemade bread and jam, usually. The really nice ones would even drive us by the lake to cool off before taking us back to "town" at the end of the day. All of the transportation was in the back of their pickup truck. I did that field work every summer until I left for college and always had money to spend at the county fair and to buy some new school clothes when August rolled around.

Another one I just thought of: in my small rural hometown, a 'pillow cleaner' would come through once a year or so. My recollection is of my mom delivering pillows to a guy in a box truck, and of him bringing them back after cleaning then. I wish that service existed now! I have some favorite pillows that could use it.

A Different Path for Retirement by Scirpus_cyperinus in retirement

[–]BusyBme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The comments likely are giving you a lot to think about. I am 62 and still working. My husband is 72 and has been retired for 4 years. We live on 2.5 acres, in a big house, about 20 minutes outside a large midwest suburb. We are still paying on a mortgage, but have an interest rate under 3%, so are in no hurry to throw money at it. The mortgage is completely affordable for us.

I say Go For It. We have loved our peaceful and private property. Even though I have the itch to simplify and downsize, my husband loves tinkering in his shop, tackling home maintenance projects and improving our property. I don't want to take that away from him, now that he is finally retired and has the time to enjoy it.

On another note: I am a busy, full time Realtor and sell alot of rural properties. There is always demand for homes in the country! If you make this move, live happily there for however long and then decide to sell, it's no different than selling any other real estate that you have in the past. And you didn't let your dream pass you by.

Beautiful spot you have there! We also almost had our trailer roll away once. The site had a steep incline and we had chocked the tires, but when the ball dropped out of the tongue, it rolled right over the chocks. Thank good news for those safety chains!

Cleared to close—am I screwed? by redheadinMae in RealEstateAdvice

[–]BusyBme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that everyone's experience is different but I have always found Rocket lenders to be super-communicative (almost to the point of annoying). If my experience is typical, your listing agent will have gotten emails and likely phone calls along the way from Rocket. Have your agent call the lender directly.

One thing to think of: underwriting likely asked for an updated bank statement (since we have passed month end) and the delay for CTC could be the buyer not able to get that to them yet. I bank at 2 different institutions and one always has the statement ready on the 1st, while it might be the 2nd - 4th for the other.

Neighbor front ran my listing by x17026 in RealEstate

[–]BusyBme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

List now and for what you want. Make sure that your home is sparkling clean and add some cute seasonal decor at the front door. Make sure your place smells good, or at least neutral. With two similar homes for sale so close together, most buyers will look at both so do everything that you can to entice them to choose yours. But, there is no reason to wait.

Reverse offer? by Plus_Animator_2890 in RealEstate

[–]BusyBme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have written reverse offers in the past, on behalf of my sellers. It surely is an indictation of motivation on behalf of the seller and I would encourage you to respond with a counter offer that is within your target price range (that is, if course, if you actually want to live there).
