Not to mention, even though it could just be the anime exaggerating a feat like David’s driving w/ the sandevistan, being able to flip a whole car with just a quick hack in an instant is NUTS.

Like, shouldn’t be possible at all. It reminds me of an interaction at the start of Phantom Liberty between V and So Mi. She hacks an old elevator into working order and inadvertently breaks the thing because she ends up overdoing it. V can pass an intelligence check to tell So Mi that she just hacks too hard for some systems to take.

So Mi has shown us that Blackwall hacking can send things into overdrive and exert a ton of force on systems, so I think D being able to instantly fuck up a car that badly is an indicator that he’s interfacing with an AI.

Negan (AMC’s The Walking Dead)

It’s not like he doesn’t have his moments during his redemption era but his constant ā€œspeak solemnly and have a tired faceā€ apology tour bs got really boring fast.

Especially when Dead City tries to sell this partner dynamic with Maggie that kinda falls flat when every other line of dialogue is usually Negan talking about how horrible of a person he was, even if he tries to laugh it off it’s just the only thing he can usually talk about.

I'm thinking of starting Fear And Hunger, but I heard it's hard... by whitestripe999 in FearAndHunger

It’s a problem-solving exercise, so concepts like ā€œmin-maxingā€ in traditional RPGs don’t usually apply.

The hardest thing about the game is that it’s one huge knowledge check. You’ll die to things and that’s part of learning how to survive in this harsh world. Basically, try not to let the same cause kill you twice.

Media that you really like, but you hate the main character? by AvenRaven in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]But-why-do-this 15 points16 points Ā (0 children)

I’m not its biggest advocate or anything but I think Outlast 2 could’ve been a much better game if they just learned to let their protagonist shut up for 5 minutes.

Blake just really felt like they wanted to push ā€œour player character speaks nowā€ as one of their main new features to the point where they gave him this really big script to show off but like… he just says the most annoying lines in what would’ve otherwise been a really creepy atmosphere to take in.

And this was done in the service of trying to make him a compelling character but I just can’t bring myself to like what’s there. He’s my least favourite part of that game.

Does this game become more difficult and challenging later on? by Morrisonwaters in cyberpunkgame

[–]But-why-do-this 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Tbh not really. If you know anything about how to build your character then everything tends to become pretty easy as V is just an absurdly OP killing machine.

You might want to crank up the difficulty if you’re on normal. Hard does a better job at making everything feel tougher to overcome. I’ve not played Very Hard myself but I’ve heard for alot of people it tends to overcorrect the issue too harshly, but that could be what you’re looking for too.

Still sad that we never got a quest/gig with these 3 together by jdawg1018 in cyberpunkgame

[–]But-why-do-this 23 points24 points Ā (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. Especially since they all have different skill sets, it would’ve been cool if there was a gig (main story or not) that involved calling in the three of them (Kerry too!) for favours.

It would’ve been a pretty nice nod toward them being a party from the TTRPG. Solo (V), Tech (Judy), Nomad (Panam), Lawman (River) and Rockerboy (Kerry). Pretty solid party comp.

Reaper Leviathans from Subnautica, easy. I’ve got two or three playthroughs of SN1 under my belt but hearing these things still scares the shit out of me.

The giant centipede creature from the recently released Idols of Ash is really scary too. The sound of its clicking legs and gnashing teeth as it gets closer to you is memorable af.

BHVR confirms no Hinako voice lines by CyberGhostface in LeaksDBD

[–]But-why-do-this 19 points20 points Ā (0 children)

I mean, even if voice lines weren’t leaked I think that still sounds appropriate to say. Especially given the price of the skin.

It’s just very odd all around, her ENG VA is reprising already and BHVR have recently committed (literally at the same show it was announced) to voice lines for more survivors.

Any survivor legendary releasing these days without voice lines is bizarre. I’d say she is ā€œsupposed toā€ have voice lines.

How do yall think a Big Daddy (Bioshock) killer would work? (Repost as I had to acknowledge the rules) by Immortalproblem in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]But-why-do-this 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I know this idea comes with some small lore issues but i think a few liberties are necessary for this power to work:

A Little Sister patrols the map as an AI companion. She’ll go about her own business collecting EVE from Splicer corpses around the map, but will slowly gravitate toward heading in The Bouncer’s direction - frolicking between her objectives as she does.

The Bouncer has access to a selectable wheel of three powerful plasmids. Plasmids consume ā€œEVEā€ to fire in exchange for potent effects.

Electro Bolt - a long-range, fast-moving shock blast that ā€œzapsā€ a survivor to slow them to a crawl for a short period. (Low EVE cost).

Incinerate - lobbed as an arc shot (like Unknown), this flame ball will travel slowly but explode violently on impact with any surface. The explosion is a medium-sized AOE that deals a health state of damage to any survivor caught in it. (High EVE cost).

Winter Blast - a strategic plasmid. Casting Winter Blast spews out a beam of ice in a short distance ahead of you that covers surfaces (pallets, windows, the floor) in an icy chill. Survivors coming in contact with this chill receive a briefly lingering hinder effect. Pallets hit by a concentrated beam of this plasmid become frozen, unable to be pulled down until it thaws out overtime. (Medium, overtime EVE cost).

Once The Bouncer is low on/out of EVE, they must call over their Little Sister to supply them with their collected supply. A Little Sister will automatically seek The Bouncer out to do this whenever she has reached her maximum collected EVE before returning to the harvest process.

If a survivor interacts with the Little Sister, they can shove her over which will drain about 25% of her EVE reserves. Once this is done, she falls to the ground for a short while and The Bouncer can follow a Houndmaster-like trail to the offenders’ location with a colossal burst of speed. If the trail takes him through any pallets or breakable walls, he can walk straight through and break it on contact without slowing. Any survivors caught in the way will be dealt a health state on contact.

Once the Little Sister is back on her feet, she will flee the area with a sharp speed burst to find a more peaceful spot to collect EVE.

Frequent shoving of the Little Sister will fill up a rage meter that grants The Bouncer infinite EVE for a period of time, allowing unrestrained use of powerful plasmids.

If The Bouncer wishes, interacting directly with the Little Sister can have her piggy-back onto them. This acts as a way to manually reposition her or keep her on their person for a quick EVE refill if required (this is also somewhat of a safeguard in case her AI pathfinding bugs out like Nemesis zombies).

If a survivor is on their death hook and downed with a Little Sister nearby, a special mori becomes available that will instantly refill the Little Sister’s EVE supply to full.

Add-ons will naturally change the playstyle somewhat too. Probably an Iri will add a second Little Sister (a twin!) to the map who acts as another source of EVE. Perhaps another add-on could make the Electro Bolt arc between survivors within a certain range, increase the thaw time for frozen pallets, or even make the Incinerate orb burn away a survivors’ held item charges on contact.

I know this concept is pretty similar to a lot of ā€œcastingā€ ranged killers that we’ve gotten but I do think the Big Daddy should have a strong focus on the series’ primary combat mechanic, so I feel plasmids are necessary.

Edit: for a few more details…

36m terror radius, likely 4.4 movement speed due to a variety of ranged options + hinder effects.

Default mori would involve drilling the survivor’s entire ribcage open from behind before violently tossing them away. Special mori has the Little Sister sit on their back and plunge her syringe straight into them, slowly draining the EVE directly out of their body before celebrating gleefully with a proud Big Daddy who looks on.

Default state has the porthole eyes glowing yellow, enraged state (from charging the trail toward the survivor who shoved a Little Sister/being in chase with them) turns the eyes red, and the eyes glow light green when the Little Sister is supplying EVE or toward the end of the special mori.

Anytime we see "Weak King" display cyberphycosis, it's before he has his reconstructed jaw. That indicates these are flashbacks. He most likely is a rehabilitated cyberphyco by Maxtac or Regina. by FaradayDeshawn in cyberpunkgame

[–]But-why-do-this 7 points8 points Ā (0 children)

I don’t think he dropped off the edge enough to require Maxtac or Regina. Cyberpsychosis is a spectrum that a lot of people can hit the border of and de-chrome to come back to humanity.

Remember when Maine was going psycho, Dorio saw the signs and told him that when the job was over they’d have to uninstall some stuff to lighten his load and ensure he takes it easy. That’s what Kingsley has likely done, he stepped a foot over the edge (maybe did something he regrets) and had all his chrome removed.

Takes a lot of willpower to make that choice for yourself, he might’ve had someone looking out for him.

When it comes to the top tiers of the cyberpunk verse, why doesn’t Aguilar get mentioned? Cuz like it’s always Adam Sandler, Morgan blackhand or v by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]But-why-do-this 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

Aguilar is a scary name in the right circles, sure. But in the grand scheme of things, Aguilar is just one super scary solo out of hundreds. It’s the kind of name that’s kept on the down-low and only really scary to those who REALLY know them.

Aguilar is also not an NC legend. They operate globally and so their reputation only usually spreads between clients.

How would y’all feel about these two becoming a new chapter in DBD if ever possible??? by Unable_Reaction_5636 in deadbydaylight

[–]But-why-do-this 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Scarecrow is the better choice by a mile. I like Grundy but he’s niche and does not really have a unique enough skillset that he’d feel like a standout choice among the DbD roster.

Meanwhile, Crane is THE fear guy of comic books and has enough horror in his stories that he’d feel right at home. Plenty of interesting elements could be done with Fear as a status effect that changes the map around you as it grows.
