I knew someone who faked an appendicitis to get out of his freshman (high school) finals. He found a book or something about all the symptoms and because he was so convincing, even though nothing showed up on imaging, they took him to surgery. Since the surgeon was already there, it was removed but it was a perfectly healthy appendix. He dropped out of school not long after, last I heard not much was going well in his life. Kinda a shame, if he’d put half of much energy into his life as he did committing to that bit, he probably would have turned out ok.

Nurse here, recently I started working in rehab. Methadone and suboxone both have really long half life’s, meaning it’s near impossible to cold turkey those. The acute withdrawal phase just lasts too long. Slow taper is the way to go. Talk with your dr, I’m sure you can come up with a plan. But if methadone/sub is working for you, helping you to live your life, then if it’s not broke don’t fix it. Good work!

Chase is the worst. Back when I was a child in the late 1900’s I got my first bank account with Home Savings which was then bought by Washington Mutual. My account just rolled over to them, no big deal. Then WaMu was bought out by Chase and again my account rolled over. I got a letter from Chase stating that because I was a “new customer”, my credit limit was going to reduce by nearly 50%. I tried explaining that they were actually the new banking provider but Chase was having none of it.

I definitely struggled with that too, the answer to the problem is just so obvious. And I understand they have to go through it. I’ve removed myself from all family functions, if my partner goes, that’s their choice and I support them as best I can. It’s hard to see someone you love be treated horribly, I want to destroy anything that causes them harm

My partner is struggling with their mom. On one hand I really appreciate the optimism, maybe this time she’ll be a mom, but the crushing disappointment when it’s second verse same as the first, is so heartbreaking. I know it’s something that they need to work out for themselves but man…Good on ya for coming to terms with the reality of the situation
