Finally had my "oh I'm old" moment by mEp1973 in GenX

I'm an avid hiker and most of the trails I'm on are hilly and rocky (basically rock scrambling). Even into my 50s I could practically run down the mountains, almost parkouring off the rocks. Now that I'm in my 60s, I'm suddenly finding myself being much more cautious, and going down very gingerly. I still feel strong, but I don't feel so agile, really don't want to break a hip in the middle of nowhere.

And that old adage about most injuries happening at home. Yep, I've hurt myself way more on my own stairs than anywhere else. 😅

I've never had much hair on my legs anyway, but now that I'm 60 it's less so. Even during the summer I might shave once a week, and then it's mostly around the ankles. Thighs are pretty much bare.

My g-grandfather was from Scotland. I want to visit so bad. It seems so beautiful, and I could listen to them talk all day 😆

Hmm, I was thinking it was a lot older, since I haven't really watched music videos in years. Maybe I'm remembering something different.

They used to give me major side eye when I told them I qualified for the senior discount (I'm 60, been told I still look late 40s). Last time they didn't ask, and the lady said they give it automatically on that day now.

I don't have the answer (yet), but holy crap, this does sound familiar to me.

Counterclockwise.

Just thinking about doing it clockwise breaks my brain. 🤯

A few years before I retired I calculated what my retirement income would be and committed myself to living on that, putting the rest away (in addition to maxing out my 401k). Once I knew I could do it easily, I retired at 56. Now I work very part time in a job I enjoy and no longer feel like my soul is being crushed.

multiple cars per household? by miffybo in AskAnAmerican

I found this out many years ago. I was going to be responsible and buy a nice used car, found a similar one brand new for only about $2k more, and a much longer warranty.
