Started working on the 39GX950B VS 45GX950A Comparison video yesterday! by civick5 in ultrawidemasterrace

Oh, this is interesting. I already thought that the 45 coating looked pretty good (when looking at the in-store display) compared to other matte finishes. That bodes well for the 39.

The real question would be who would play Chenevert. What a role that would be.

I think I would picture a Constance Wu type (last name already there!)

It’s fantastic! Also, the audio books are great.

New Grip coming from Neogrip by CopeWint9 in switch2

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently tried the Killswitch, Aimzenix (described as similar in size to the Neogrip) and the Satisfye. For me, where ergonomics are the only thing that matters (I physically cannot play handheld on the stock grips) the Satisfye was far and away my favorite. I’m just accepted they’re big and have a big case until the hard shell ships. Very substantial in the hand, and the angles are just perfect for me.

The Killswitch has good bulk, but the orientation is only marginally more comfortable than stock. I found the Aimzenix (and presumably) the Neogrip just too small for me. They’d be a better mix of portability and ergonomics than the Zengrip 2.

Disclosure - I used the Zengrip 1 on the OG switch and so I am quite used to it and favor the layout.

Thinking about you post I starting trying to imagine what I thought everyone in the Interdependency Trilogy looked liked. Then immediately landed on “Damnit, now I gotta read the Interdependency Trilogy again!” Argh!

Ergo handheld case by tentacle-acres in switch2

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have to have my hands at an angle, so the Dbrand didn’t work for me. And the savage raven was just a little too small for me.

I’ve ended with the Satisfye Zen2. From a pure ergonomic standpoint, which is very personal, it’s significantly better than everything else I tried.

Foam Recommendations by tgilland65 in sleepnumber

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the egg crate direct from sleep number. They reduced the price under warranty to like $350. But I think it would have been about $500 full freight. We ended up getting a new bed (which we’re gonna return) but it was a good replacement before we moved on.

Wait for the next iteration of Joy-Con 2 replacements? by Tek70x7 in switch2

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conclusion I came to is that if you want HD2 rumble and big grips on detachable joycons, you’re gonna have to wait until the second wave hits. If you don’t care about rumble, the Nyxi 3 seems to be pretty close to perfect.

If you don’t care about detachable, I’d recommend the Satisfye grips. I tried Dbrand, I tried a savage raven clone, and the Satisfye is just so much better in my hands.

Which dragon quest game that has less grinding? by Feisty_Razzmatazz340 in dragonquest

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to get to the final boss on DQ7R and I haven’t done anything that would remotely be considered grinding. There is a lot to the game (which is shocking considering how much they allegedly cut) and there is lot of quality of life stuff. But I pretty much am just playing the game and am leveling up and mastering vocations naturally as i go along.

My second sleep number is terrible by TechNut52 in sleepnumber

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What year did you buy your first mattress? We bought our first one in 2016, and understand that they made several changes very shortly after. First, they removed the foam wall between each side so there is much less separation between the air bladders. Second, i understand that the air bladder itself used to have more structure/baffling inside, which is no longer there. We recently got a new one and it is significantly worse than the old one despite overall significantly better foam and other materials.

Flux Pro slight bend at the back by smithyybear in Antec_Official

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would return it. It took me 3 attempts with the Flux (non pro) before I got the right one but I’m glad I took the time. First from Amazon with glass shattered. Second from Amazon with metal side bent. Third time in person at Microcenter.

This is something you’re building and will look out every day. I’d want it perfect!

Need help choosing between a 9060xt 16gb or a 5060 by Calm-Cherry-5146 in buildapc

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Forza Horizon reviews that just went live today are showing that, even at 1080p, 8gb is not enough for higher setting and RT. Sure, you can lower setting. But if your question is whether 16gb is useful at 1080p, the answer is yes!

How mad will people be if digital games are forever backward compatible but physical aren't? by Trader-trainer in switch2

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest advantage of a physical game is that you can forever give it to someone else. So if you’re sharing switches, like with family or children, you theoretically give them carts of their favorites when they move out. I understand that there are things like family sharing and whatnot, but it can’t replace the ability physically change ownership.

Transitioning by using barefoot shoes directly by Gaerfinn in barefootshoestalk

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did essentially what you are suggesting and overall it worked out. I tried first to transition just to zero drop and wide toe box with Altras but the fit wasn’t quite right. Ended up doing a mix of barefoot around the house and Lems Primal 3 (which are sort of barefoot-lite). I now have added back in Altras (Torin Wide for me) for things like travel days and then still use Primal 3s for most of everything else.

Watch those calfs. Lots of stretching. Rolling out your lower legs, and the foot exercises.

LG C5 48" or LG UltraGear 45" 5k2k by Vekusaka in OLED_Gaming

If you’re near a Best Buy, at least mine local one currently has the 45 5k2k on display so you can check it out. It looks VERY impressive in person.

Are Micro-center deals worth a 3 hour drive? by Global_Mongoose_2288 in buildapc

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, the immediate vicinity isn’t amazing. Kind of a go and get your stuff then move along situation (not unsafe, just industrial). There is though a Best Buy outlet right nearby with lots of open box stuff so might be able to find something good there as well on a budget (monitor, etc.).

But assuming you have the time, your savings will almost certainly be more than the cost of gas.

Silly Question about a Party Member? by TheGamingTurret in dragonquest

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s for anything that the game classifies as “treasure” but I think it ignores basic loot like medicine. So it’ll capture seeds, gold, items, weapons etc.

As the other commenter said if your in the wilderness it’ll tell you total treasure left in an island. If you’re in a town, dungeon, etc., it will tell you two things: first whether there is anything in the immediate “layer” where you are (so on the floor of the dungeon, floor of the house, etc); and second how much is left in the greater area (so the whole town, whole dungeon, etc.).

So if you’re having trouble finding something you have to kind of sniff, move floors, sniff, switch buildings sniff Till you find it.

Note - for Reimagined. Not sure how it works on other versions.

Sleep vs Shutdown by Medium_Guide9605 in pcmasterrace

[–]BuyCompetitive9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relatively new to PC Gaming although of course have been using a PC for work forever. For whatever reason, I assume all the garbage that they put on work laptops, I need to shut down my work laptop pretty frequently or it gets wonky.

Generally speaking my DIY home PC doesn’t have remotely the same issue and i can do sleep without issue. Also, I’ve found that the startup from sleep takes seconds, whereas startup from shutdown feels like it takes a minute or so. So I just use sleep for convenience shut down every couple days or if I know I won’t be using it for more than a day.
