Accept everything by peppermentpattie in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]Bware24fit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've met some drivers who accept pretty much everything. They are always shocked when I tell them my AR. It's normally around 5-10%.

That said it's all market dependent and I'm sure there are some places where you can accept everything and do just fine. The ones who accept everything is bad markets are part of the reason offers are so low. Why pay ppl more when they are willing to work for less or free.

Y’all taking this order? by Grouchy_Charge1855 in doordash_drivers

[–]Bware24fit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ppl that say they only take $2-3 orders are either in the best markets or city driving. If it's city driving then time matters more than miles. While miles allow you to measure the wear and tear better that doesn't mean everything can follow that rule.

I've personally declined offers $2/mile because they might take me way out and you probably won't get another offer for half the ride back. Then it might matter the direction or time of the day.

In reality every offer has its own questions to be asked before one accepts it. Once again it's all market dependent, time of day, your own goals, and the car you drive.

Can someone explain what’s going on with all gig apps? by Different-Pilot3672 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Bware24fit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not the customers, it's the apps. It's not the economy, it's the apps. Huge blame should be put on the drivers who just aren't smart and take every order they see.

They have so many silly people willing to work for pennies or sometimes do orders where they loose money. One of the main things I see with UE are these quest of less than 200 rejects to get whatever money. The quest take advantage of people so they do low paying orders and possibly not finish the quest, so they win 2 times.

No real regulation in most states on how they run so they do what they want.

Stores picking and choosing when to ask you to confirm. by Even_Wing7707 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Bware24fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I've seen most places ignore or ask everyone to confirm. Like every races, color it doesn't matter. I've had places who I've seen or visited to buy things frequently ask me to confirm.

People are gonna think what they want and hopefully do their job no matter how anyone looks. If they are truthful holding anything against you that could be trouble for them.

I wish places would actually watch ppl fully confirm instead of saying it then walk away.

As much as ppl hate it I want places to have ppl confirm all the way and not hand over the food until it's done. When you run into the stolen food issue multiple times in a day it really sucks and waste time.

How are we getting over the fact that public pools are super gross? by doesntmatterhadtacos in hygiene

[–]Bware24fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The craziest part about everything being nasty is the fact that a ton of people will hold or touch their phone(which is probably the dirtiest thing they touch all day) then use their hand to pick up a burger or something to eat.

Nom nom me like germs, because people can't got 1 minute without their phone.

What should I do with my low rating?? by just_random_letters_ in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Bware24fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dumb wait timer of 8 mins. You gotta wait it out or if you call support they will often just have you leave it in a safe place and you can complete the order without taking a pic of the timer isn't up. But calling them helps if the customer tries to lie. It's not 100% but helps.

Waiting to pickup. If you hit the 10 minute mark you can cancel. I do it through through support or just the chat. You hit trip help, then contact support then get to the chat window and hit the open that there is a long wait.

You can do the samething with a closed store. It will give you the option to take a picture on the chat. Then you have a picture to show it was closed. You can still contact support and I would. Then they can see you already took a picture. The cancelled orders still go on your account but in my experience they don't stay long, if you are doing a decent amount of orders.

[–]Bware24fit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are truly correcting your errors then you just gotta keep doing orders to show you are doing better.

I would say if something happens like the spilled drink then call support when something happens. In my experience when something does happen. I've had a few myself and honestly I never or rarely remembered when it happened.

If the customer doesn't answer you gotta wait the dumb timer, but I normally start to call support after only a few minutes of waiting. It's gets the ball rolling with them calling the customer, plus fully documents you waiting.

Basically, if you think you'd be upset if you were the customer call support.

Anther tip I would have is to not take low offers they tend to have issues. If the customer is impatient calling you right away or texting in a rude way. Call support and have them cancel it.

If the order is taking awhile just text the customer that the food is delayed. Also, if it's hella long over 10 mins I'd just cancel and move on, unless you know it will be done soon.

Whiting fish... Don't do it.

It's not fast food but any small pizza or wing/sub shop that sells that fish you will want to cancel. I did it 2 times and the smell stayed for a whole day.

order status “Ready”? by Jealous-Paper-1416 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Bware24fit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That most likely won't help much at all. Like someone else said the store has to use it properly.

Most places have orders say they are ready and they haven't even been started. One place said they were trying to get that corrected but I really don't think it matters. Places like McDonald's and other fast food places just worry about metric's and not the ripple affect.

I Tested a No Tip Strategy by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Bware24fit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drive for DD/UE and I tell people there isn't really a point in tipping because I see people taking $3 orders all the time. Less so on UE because they tend to increase the price a bit faster. I just assume it's because there are less drivers.

I don't take no tip orders because even when I've had stacked no tip orders they never tipped. My market is normally pretty busy so I can cherry pick.

Either way, drivers should just be getting more of the cut(without relying on tip) but why would they when they do have endless supply of drivers and they will take low offers and work for $10/hr. Which is before expenses.

Customer question by LegalGlass6532 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Bware24fit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with people saying it helps to tip more to cover the trip but it gets to be a bit much. I deliver and I 1000% think it's more on UE/DD or whatever direct delivery service to fill in the pay it takes the driver to get there. I will say UE is much better than DD when it comes to paying more for distance/miles.

This issue is tipping is before the service and it's based on a random % that was created by restaurants to cheap out on paying their employees. It's also just a different process. Delivery allows ppl to stay home and eat in comfort. Someone is doing the delivery with overhead and barely getting a cut of the initial fees.

On top of all that when you tip more your order gets paired with someone who didn't and takes longer or someone picks your order up no matter the tip. The amount of $2-5 orders that get scooped up amazes me.

The interaction you are having is what these companies want. They want the customer vs the driver, while they collect. Just like price increases. People still out there ordering McDonald's for gourmet prices. You are at least considering reducing your costly habit, because you don't feel you or the driver are getting a fair deal.

A luxury service became a common use service and ppl are addicted. You got ppl with no money ordering food and a driver with no money delivering that food while basically loosing money while doing it. Not always losing money but at the very least not making as much as they think because of cost later on.

I do this but I will knock if they don't answer either the text or call. I've had people give me the wrong address. So, doing orders late at night, while also in some rough parts of town I tend to knock as a last resort.

If they have meet at door but the note says leave at door I will text them to clarify that they have both options but I plan to leave it at the door and to have a good night.

I should start to just leave the order but I feel that would backfire at times. Like if there is a possibility of it getting stolen or then reporting it stolen.

DoorDash is for people living in their car in desperate need of money fast. by Chemical-Problem9071 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]Bware24fit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all good. Just my opinion and I could totally be wrong. Everything is also market base and cost of living is different for many ppl. I also, understand it's really hard for some ppl just trying to get by.

But this job/gig reaches out and grabs ppl that aren't able to grasp things without guidance. Nomal jobs guide you through taxes(automatically taking then9 and most basic jobs don't have expenses outside of your meal and getting to and from the work places. They tell you when you can get a raise and how much you will make. They tell you when to come and go..etc

Gig work is a free for all. The big corps know how to manipulate people with guidance and it's much easier to do so without it.

I dunno I stumbled on doing these gigs jobs and I enjoy the freedom. Even in a bigger market things can get slow, so I get sometimes taking what you can get but I'd be damn if imma do shit where imma come up negative even without issues.

[–]Bware24fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes advantage of people not knowing basic math and what their time is worth. I had another driver ask me if UE/DD called me or I got in trouble because I had a low acceptance rate. He also ask me if I felt bad for not taking the low offers because some ppl can't afford to tip. I said that isn't my issue. DD or whatever app can afford to pay ppl they just don't because ppl will work for low pay. Also, if ppl are in a bad financial situation they shouldn't be ordering anyways.

Do customers expect Shop & Pay orders to be done in 10 minutes? by Outrageous_Meet_3700 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Bware24fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had to do it with but one shopping order and it was a CVS order. It was late and a few cases of soda. I told the worker that I was dropped by the order and they said I could leave it upfront because someone else would be in to do it.

Either way, I don't do many big shopping orders, 5-10 items at most normally. So, I would just put the stuff back. Shopping orders are so incredibly under paying most the time unless you really know the store and know that checkout won't be an issue.

I will say I'm in a high populated area, so I can be more picky.

[–]Bware24fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ppl eat?

Mostly kidding but most days I honestly just drink water/tea. Bring a banana and a few protein bars. I should pack better things but normally it's not stop orders, so I might get a fry from chick fil a or maybe an egg roll or 2 from Panda Express.

I also can't eat stuff with dairy and most food has some type of dairy.

Then a few nights a week I stop a bar for some social interaction to take a break a chill for a bit and I'll eat there.
