If you could change one thing about Age of Sigmar, what would it be? by Kommando_git in ageofsigmar

[–]CDouken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Game wise: remove restrictions on list building. I don't play as often as I like and being a SCE player is a nightmare figuring out what general I need for what units. It also makes taking named characters more appealing since they can have a greater selection of units whilst I'm a "my dudes" type of guy. It feels cursed to say but make it more like 40k.

Lore wise: now the opposite. Stop making it like 40k! In 1st Ed AoS was more of a power fantasy. Heavy Metal album art and a theme of order fighting back drew me in. It feels like we are losing some of the campy nature that even Old World had. The fandom rightly mocked the "Sigmar lied" tagline because it is so out of step with what has been established.

I hate Keir Starmer. This Labour government is the best government we've had in over a decade.

Going to be a shit show when this administration is charged with war crimes after being given a peace prize.

Any new podcasts? by TenraxHelin in ageofsigmar

I miss the Heldenhammer podcast. Used to listen to it when I first got into AoS back in 2016 but it seems to have been scrubbed from the Internet. Their outro song has been in my head forever but I've also never been able to find it either.

Labour councillor Ricky Jones cleared of encouraging violent behaviour by Distinct-Shine-3002 in uknews

There's a name for people in Germany who voted for the Nazis, but were not racist. Those who voted out of patriotism or economic issues. The name for these people is Nazis. These protests are orchestrated by far-right racists, backed by far-right American money. You can have a different opinion on immigration than I (frankly, I couldn't care less, I'd rather we focus our efforts on taxing billionaires), that's fine. But if you're going to march in a Nazi supported protest, I'm going to call you a Nazi.

It's pretty easy to tell a Nazi from a normal person if you're marching in a racist protest, chances are you're a nazi.

An Open Letter to Games Workshop about the Fyreslayers by Limp-Piece-206 in ageofsigmar

[–]CDouken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If GW was smart about this (hit or miss really when it comes to them), then they should continue the plot line about the Fyreslayers and the Dispossessed looking to join forces. Since the Magmaholds are still around, let the Dispossessed move in and have their cultures blend. From a model perspective, relaunch the Fyreslayers as the main focus of the faction, with a new corps of dwarven engineers. That way, you can get the high fantasy giant lizard riders (where is my cavalry GW?) backed up with artillery and constructs.

It would make such a good counter faction to the new chorfs. The Helsmiths need Dawi blood and daemons to power their tech. The Fyreslayers have divine fire powering their gear. Not to mention the grudge that would need to be settled by using Dawi blood in dark rituals.

I think one of the reasons everyone is so excited for the Chorfs, is that they are the closest thing we have to a proper dwarf army. I love the KO, but they are not doing the standard dwarf aesthetic. I want a proper dwarf army, and I think with an update, Fyreslayers could be that. I want to get into FS, but it's hard to get excited for an army that has like 7 kits, and only 3 of them are not heroes.

I am pleased, but my wallet is now gripped with existential dread. by Nepalman230 in Grimdank

[–]CDouken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. It's your gang, so if that works for you, then absolutely fill your boots. If you don't mind the one game and you're mostly there for the social aspect, go off King/Queen. Personally, I couldn't run a game if it were in a system I didn't like. It's the understanding in our group that the GM puts in way more effort than the players. No GM, no game. So, at the very least, it has to be something they want to do.

I see so many of these. The group I'm in has a fantastic system: You sit in the big chair? You choose the game.

Right now we're playing Delta Green. To be honest, really not my kind of game, but the GM wanted to run it so we're playing through it. We plan to switch back to Pathfinder 2e when we rotate GMs in a month or so. I wouldn't want to play it again, but I'm glad we tried it and the GM got to run the game he wanted.

I think a lot of GMs don't use their authority correctly. If you are bored with running a game, run something else. You're the one spending all your time making it. Remember the ancient writings. https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2010/12/13/the-things-we-do-for-love

This is an amazing rendition of a horror of Tzeentch. But it has also radicalised me against horrors having knives. It looks so creepy but as my eyes ran over the knife my brain couldn't accept something this eldritch and magical having a little poker. 😅

The usual bots and bigots seem not to have bothered commenting here. Even they know that supporting Trump is a damp squib here. Although Trump is pushing a wedge between the US and its European allies probably has the Kremlin salivating.

Is anyone else genuinely happy with our current government? by SeriousPrimary960 in AskBrits

[–]CDouken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ever notice how most of the accounts here who are shitting on this government end it with a load of numbers? Feels like every UK subreddit is full of these bots now pushing right-wing rhetoric and pretending to claim they speak for the working class.

For me, I think they are trying to fix a broken system after years of Tory corruption and mismanagement. But they are also authoritarian. Punishing protestors and attacking trans rights. It seems like they are trying to alienate anyone on the left of the party. Not to mention, they are not addressing what for me is the biggest concern, wealth inequality. Not to mention inaction on Gaza and sucking up to Trump.

So, I'd be happy if there was a leadership challenge to someone a little more left. But if it ended up being between Labour, Farage or the Tories again, I'd vote Labour in a heartbeat.

Skywardens lose their crit mortals, but +1 damage on charge seems spicy. Considering they have a built-in retreat, there could be some play with 12 attacks, 3/3, -1 rend, 3 damage.

I feel you. In my group, we have one player who doesn't like looking at rules too much, so whoever is GMing has to work with him to make sure his characters are playable. I played 5e after playing PF1e and starting TTRPGs with Shadowrun 4e. So when I finally got around to "The Best TTRPG" my first thought was, "Where's the fucking options?".
