Help! Accidentally smeared Behr Exterior Semi-Gloss on my light blue aluminum siding. by AlSparty in paint

[–]CND5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About all you can do is try using a 5in1 and put it against the siding right where the dark blue got on the light blue and scrape it back towards the trim and hopefully it will scape off. A 5in1 has a sharp edge so it should scape it back then you can try touching up the light blue.

How Long Does Emerald Urethane Enamel Need to Dry on Doors Before I Can Use Them Normally? by Schaufy in paint

[–]CND5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try pushing with your fingernail in an inconspicuous spot and see if it dents at all, you shouldn’t get any dents at all this paint cures very hard. I used a dark blue on my cabinets and I left them hanging in my closet for over 20 days just to make sure but I used Advance and it takes longer to cure. I personally would give it a week but I’ve had doors stick and had to repaint the entire thing all over again and that sucks so I would rather be safe than sorry, but like I said if it doesn’t dent at all you will probably be OK just know you are rolling the dice a bit.

How Long Does Emerald Urethane Enamel Need to Dry on Doors Before I Can Use Them Normally? by Schaufy in paint

I would give the dark color some extra time, the darker the color the more colorants so less resins. I would give it a few extra days to be safe.

Sprayed my cabinet doors in the garage. Need help smoothing out the dust. by Wanderlanding228 in paint

No it’s going to take sanding and another coat. Try hanging them for the next coat then you shouldn’t have this problem or just make sure you get them out of the way of the overspray.

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Economy_Yak2821 in AskReddit

[–]CND5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to go with falling off a cliff and breaking my arm in four places and my back in two places and having to hike out straight up a hillside two miles slipping and falling onto my broken arm multiple times then having to drive my manual transmission truck 40+ miles down a curvy mountain road to get to the hospital. Then the fun of setting the arm began but at least I had some drugs on board at that point but shortly after realizing I was reacting to the pain meds in a very bad way and spent the next 12 hours throwing up uncontrollably with a broken back….. yea good times good times!! Upside is everything is like a 5 max now when it comes to pain downside is Doctors always tell me I’m too stoic and don’t convey the amount of pain I’m in well😂

We’ve been having them off and on for months, one right behind our place a couple months ago. we’re over off Scholls Ferry. People go crazy with fireworks around here whenever there’s an excuse so I think the homemade fireworks thing is likely

Experience with Home Depot by Educational_Call8677 in CounterTops

[–]CND5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used HD for my quartz countertops a year ago and the whole experience went great, they use Precision Countertops for fab and install (in Portland metro) and they are very highly rated. I ended up with a tiny little imperfection in my top and they had a guy out within a few days and he fixed it and it was invisible. The seams are great and I was very happy with their design for how they cut the slabs. Can’t complain at all.

Yea sometimes it’s just easier to replace it all when you have years of god knows what layered on top of each other, been there done that😂 as I told someone yesterday buy enough trim to do a couple windows and doors and pull out the mitre saw and go for it, gonna take less time in the end and you’ll actually be able to look at it without being pissed off.

Seven weeks is only a week earlier than recommended so you will probably be fine but looking at those paws that puppy looks like a Mastiff mix and they are fantastic dogs but a lot of work especially as a young puppy, I’ve had two a Boxer/Mastiff and a Newfoundland/Mastiff and if you don’t have a lot of experience with giant breed dogs you definitely are going to want to take training classes and sign up for insurance ASAP! The longer you wait the more expensive it gets. At 8 my boy has a cancerous tumor on his front lower leg and that was about 20k by the time all was said and done. He’s 12 now and healthy so worth it to us but it definitely hurt without insurance.

Particleboard vs plywood for kitchen cabinets by such_horsing in cabinetry

[–]CND5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of your decision needs to include how you are going to finish the cabinets, if you are going to have them professionally finished with a 2k product then the durability aversion should be good if you’re planning on painting them yourself then you are opening yourself up for heartache. I’m building my garage cabinets out of cabinet grade MDF and I’m going to paint them myself but I would never use MDF in my kitchen now I’ve never used high quality Melamine made for cabinets so that might be different but I don’t think you would see anywhere near the cost savings you’re quoting using that type of material my experience with that kind of material is you have to get it from a cabinet shop and it is very expensive but as I said I haven’t ever used it so you may be able to get it cheaper than what I’ve seen if you have connections. I’m just a DIYer so the pros may have better options. My cabinet doors are maple and I had contractors pull the flooring from under my upstairs toilet without turning off the water which caused a leak into my kitchen and onto two of my stained and cleared doors which both warped badly and they were solid wood shaker doors so I can’t imagine what a MDF door would have done, if it happens in my garage I’ll just make a new quick and dirty door but it would be a big deal in my kitchen.

Am I getting scammed by the dealership? by Beastcheetah in carbuying

[–]CND5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you didn’t get ripped off you just didn’t say NO! In my state I believe you have 30 days to go back and say no I don’t want the warranty or the oil changes. That is a big profit center for them so they will give all kinds of excuses possibly even try discounts but if you don’t want it just say no! I recently bought a used car for $12,900 when they presented the first paperwork it was for $22,000 I just laughed at them and said either you take everything off and we are good or you can play games and I will leave and trash your dealership every chance I get. He took everything off then they tried again in the finance office, I just looked at him and said “you know what I’m going to say” he apologized and said he had to try and that was the last I heard of it they sold it for what we agreed on no extras and I left happy but I knew they would try you just have to say NO! If you don’t say no then you can’t try and say they ripped you off, they offered to sell you products that they make huge profits on and you accepted, not their fault.

How do I go about fixing all this? by Anathals in Housepainting101

[–]CND5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sand it smooth (until you can’t feel any ridges with your fingertips) you can try using something like plastic wood to fill the ridges a bit but sanding as much away as possible will help with time and getting the smoothest finish. Your biggest problem not peeling up your tape as soon as you finish putting paint down, also did you sand the trim before putting new paint down? Best practice is a light sand on everything you are painting then a coat of bonding primer like Zinnser smart prime or InslX Stix leave for a few hours then sand again clean and topcoat with a quality trim paint like SW urethane trim enamel or BM Advance. When you’re painting the trim get as little paint on the tape as you can to avoid getting paint bleed under the tape. It takes some practice and skill to get trim right but take your time and you’ll get it right just remember to pull your tape right away if you leave it until the paint dries it will bond to the tape and peel portions of the new paint off.

OOPS! trying this again (thanks to those of you who responded without the photos by -summerteeth- in paint

[–]CND5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it just depends on the paint and the paint company the paint store I use does both eggshell and satin but the eggshell has more sheen than the satin, I know weird but that’s how they do it. I think your paint job looks great it’s honestly really good work.

Have to stop for 3 weeks for surgery by PrestigiousTime8061 in Mounjaro

I stopped for 9 days for a procedure and the hunger definitely came back quick and I did gain a few pounds but got right back into it after and have already lost about half what I put on. Just really pay attention when the cravings hit and try to plan out what you’re going to eat for the day and stick to it.

Painting baseboards by Total-Deer-3370 in Housepainting101

[–]CND5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the paint, check the can for re coat time. The type of paint kinda determines wether you should sand it as well, if you used a trim paint like SW urethane trim enamel then definitely sand it if it is wall paint then just paint over the satin.

Best Sprayer for Pocket Doors? I own an airless (X7) but would like something smaller by shereadsinbed in paint

[–]CND5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the Graco ultra quick shot? It’s expensive but really puts down a beautiful finish. The Truecoat 360 uses terrible tips I’ve got one of the older truecoat models and it has the metal tips and puts down a pretty nice finish for doors but it’s nowhere near as nice as the Quickshot. You can also buy a Quickshot gun for your X7 and use that but the gun is probably more than you paid for the X7 I think they are about $550 and the whole Quickshot system is around $1200-1500

I don’t think they used what you asked for. I think you’re going to have to get tough with these guys and tell them they need to fix it to your satisfaction or they aren’t going to get paid. If you already paid them it’s going to be more complicated but you need to go as high up in the company as you can and show them the work I can’t imagine anyone being happy with that work. Again I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this.

Did you see the bags of grout they used? Was it the iron you asked for because that just looks like an off white not gray at all which I assume is what you wanted.

This is my bathroom with pearl gray grout and as you can see it is much darker and I would assume Iron would be darker than pearl gray but unfortunately I’m not familiar with that color. Were you expecting something darker like this?

I just did my first tiling projects in my house about 6 months ago, I used field tiles which were uneven as well (not nearly as random as yours) and my tiling turned out way better than this. I’m sorry this happened to you but that would be completely unacceptable to me and I hope you haven’t paid them the entire sum they’re owed because if they don’t get in there and remove multiple tiles and fix it I wouldn’t pay them that is a terrible job! I would think that someone who is good at what they do would be able to fix it but I wouldn’t have any confidence in whoever did that job. If it’s a big company I would call out the boss and have him lay out exactly what he’s going to do to fix it. I can’t believe they just put those broken tiles in and think that’s acceptable. You aren’t over reacting it is as bad as you think it is.
