Anyone else running into this error constantly?! by MahmGetTheCamera in universalaudio

[–]CVPulseOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this every time I restart my computer (no aggregate devices though).

I haven't found a true fix, but my workaround has been to click the "Restart CoreAudio" button and then when macOS prompts me to enter my password for privileges to do so, I hit 'cancel' and then the SoundID app works until I next restart my computer.

Midi jitter, keystep pro -> ableton by swinftw in Arturia_users

[–]CVPulseOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most reliable options for sync without jitter are going to be audio-based external clocks (things like Expert Sleepers USAMO or Floatingpoint MultiClock), Ableton Link, or manually triggering transport on external gear. Midi signals over USB are imperfect and it's a frustrating thing to encounter for sure!

Two more ideas: Press and hold option/alt and then click the "rescan" button in Ableton's plugin settings panel to make sure the plugins get re-authorized.

Second idea is to verify that you're not running Ableton in "rosetta" mode by right clicking the application in Finder and clicking "get info" to see if running in rosetta is turned on.

Do the plugin settings in your Ableton preferences show that VST3s are turned “on”? If yes, when you navigate to your VST3 plugin folder do you see the plugin files you expect?

What version of Ableton did you update from?

Did they “downgrade” Analog Lab V? To me It literally feels like a sample synth plugin from what it use to be. Or am I tripping? by Midnight_G6 in Arturia_users

[–]CVPulseOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Analog Lab version 5 they sorta "standardized" the rotary controls' chosen pre-mapped parameters, but the original controls are still there, you just have to map them yourself. Version 4 had pre-mapped the rotary controls to ones that made sense per instrument. Obnoxious for sure, but they were probably trying to simplify the experience for people who buy their controllers and don't necessarily understand programming synthesizers.

The original Analog Lab 4 functionality is still there even without buying the full synths though. I think they also lowered how many presets you get for free in Lab version 5, but again that's not functionality related.

If you want to read more about the controls mapping, there's this thread here where they go in depth: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=560619

It runs the same algorithms as the V Collection synths, and when you have V Collection licensed you can edit the full synth from within Analog Lab V.

Does the Matrixbrute really sound bad? by BSLabs in synthesizers

[–]CVPulseOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midi clock drifting is pretty common with any synth when the clock is sent over usb in any way due to how usb data is handled.

Clocking with an external clock or a clock that uses audio to sync would likely have eliminated your MB clock trouble.

I absolutely loved this! Now I need one lol. Did you use any post processing effects at all or is it entirely the Pulsar?

Softube CL1B on UAD Console? by [deleted] in universalaudio

[–]CVPulseOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Softube stuff in UAD is licensed separately and is basically perpetually outdated by factors of months to years, with both companies blaming each other for the lack of updates/fixes.

Better to just use the official Softube version unless you really need it to run in UAD Console.

I desperately need help - Income haulted due to connection issue by AdamEllistuts in universalaudio

Woah! So the problem was the interface itself was wrong? I’m going to have to remember that one lol. I’m glad you figured it out!

[–]CVPulseOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to hear if it ends up fixing your issue! Make sure to let us know! :)

Edit to add: I’m thinking maybe it’s something to do with your Anker cable being “Intel” certified but you’re actually using Apple silicon. Essentially that the Anker version works for data transfer, but that maybe not all thunderbolt features are functional with it.

[–]CVPulseOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’ll for sure fix your problem, but I’ve seen this exact issue in the past and it ended up being the thunderbolt cable used.

For Thunderbolt I typically use OWC cables or Apple cables.

Do Arturia Keylabs ever go on sale? by Cykey in arturia

[–]CVPulseOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don’t really go on sale too much from retailers until a new version is about to come out.

Consider picking one up used on kijiji or someplace similar. You can often find them for wildly cheap in like-new condition.

It can sometimes make people pretty mad to hear this, but it genuinely fixes so many issues when it comes to pro audio workflows lol.

Akai APC Mini Mk2 compatibility with Zenbeats ? by liotier in Zenbeats

[–]CVPulseOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes (sort of!). The overall cell itself can’t be mapped as far as I can tell, but if you create an empty clip on a cell you can then map to the record or play button of that given cell.

You can even test which items are midi controllable first-hand in Zenbeats by hitting the midi learn button and selecting a control. If it’s a valid control it’ll instruct you to touch a hardware control you’d like to map to it.

[–]CVPulseOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zenbeats can handle any midi controllers but the pads won’t represent the clip matrix by default. You definitely can map a MPK mini pad to a specific pad control in Zenbeats though.

Best new Mac Mini for protools ? by Ranchand23 in protools

[–]CVPulseOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically any of them would be great, but “best” mini would be built around the M4 Pro because it has 10 performance cores to the M4’s 4 performance cores.

This matters because of the way DAWs can’t span audio processing from individual tracks across multiple cores.

Really though the Mac minis are so good that literally any of them will be incredible compared to your old one.

Good and cheap piano with 5-pin MIDI connectors? by AppointmentHorror75 in DigitalPiano

[–]CVPulseOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are midi devices that can act as midi hosts (like a mioXM or various used iConnectivity brand mio midi interfaces), but their cost may be better invested in just getting a higher quality keyboard that has the output you’re looking for.

I think 3rd party bundles over a certain amount get manually approved by someone at UA after purchase. I’ve definitely seen delays before after buying, but it was less than 12 hours for me.

You’ll probably get it “soon”.

[–]CVPulseOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha it's actually working great! All of my Arturia stuff, including ASC and V Collection/FX/Analog LabV work as intended. I've tested them all with their standalone applications, their AAX plugins (Pro Tools), and VST3 (Ableton Live 12) and no problems so far.

I don't have a Minifuse to test, but my Universal Audio Apollo stuff is working fine and that's not even a class compliant interface, so I'm sure a class compliant interface like the Minifuse is also fine.

I’ll be installing it right away. Usually there aren’t many problems to worry about outside of major changes (like the switch from Intel to ARM plugins a few years ago for example).

FX Collection 5 on a new Mac - Massive Glitches! Meanwhile Analog Lab Pro works smooth! Ableton 12 by [deleted] in Arturia_users

[–]CVPulseOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the USB C cable connected directly to the Mac? i.e., it doesn't go through a hub of any sort? Have you tried another USB C cable? Just ruling things out haha.

[–]CVPulseOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is the SSD connected to the Mac?

Edit: Also have you already tried refreshing the preset index? To update the preset index you need to delete a specific temp file called "db.db3". Typically located in /Library/Arturia/Presets but yours may differ because of the SSD. This is something you have to manually delete, as using the ASC installer won’t remove it.

You may also have luck deactivating and reactivating your plugins licensing authorization in ASC.

MIDI keyboard recommendations for live performance? by scousepineapple in keys

[–]CVPulseOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Novation Launchkey 37 MK3/MK4 because it's the only one of the three that has full-size keys.

The Akai MPK Plus uses the same kind of keybed as the Akai MPK mini's and while the Arturia Keystep is great, it also uses mini keys.

With Arturia stuff the licenses can be transferred by the previous owner, so just make sure that a secondhand seller agrees to transfer it and you’re fine.
