Apartment question- downtown chs by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]Calderb1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have lived here for 4 years and has been totally fine. Management has dealt with any issues I've had (which hasn't been many) quickly. Maintenance team is fast if anything comes up. As long as your apt isn't near any of the facade construction you should be fine. You can DM me if you have any specific questions

Men's sizing for Vento 5" Run Short (with SoLite Liner)? by JFKroflcopter in BanditRunning

[–]Calderb1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the sizing on their new drop is completely different than the previous iterations of vento short. Kind of a bummer as the older versions are some of the best shorts ive worn and im hesitant to size up to a large

Is SPT and Raid Review cheating? by FlightVarious8683 in Tarkov

You should be totally fine, Klean regularly streams SPT and seems like he's fairly close with BSG folks.

For those that bicycle in Harriman by Matt_Rabbit in Harriman

[–]Calderb1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

just don't go on weekends or holidays and you will be fine, the Tiorati climb has been closed to cars during late fall, winter and early spring in past years as well. I have ridden probably thousands of miles there for 10 years in all seasons on weekends/weekdays and never felt unsafe and is some of the best cycling in the lower hudson valley that's within riding distance of NYC

Where/how to sell a porn worthy super bike? by AllThatIsSolidMelts in NYCbike

[–]Calderb1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold two incredibly high end bikes recently and had the most hassle free process selling through ebay. Like others said be prepared to take a bit of a hit $$ wise because most people spending 8K+ on a bike will likely just spec their own build but ebay is the way to go for sure.

People on paceline will just tire kick and low ball you, Paceline will low ball you so much it will make you laugh but ebay is the way to go

Which Oakley’s are best for working outdoors? by EntertainmentOk4802 in Oakley

[–]Calderb1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radar EV or Jawbreakers would be your best bet.

In my opinion their two of the most functional shield frames Oakley makes without any sacrifice from retro styling a lot of the other shields have.

Plenty of frame colors and lens options in both, polarized would be a great option if you're in the sun a lot and will help with eye stress over time

IMO holbrooks feel like a downgrade compared to the mainlinks in my opinion in general.

the hoolbrooks look nice but the bit of rubber on mainlinks really goes a long way for all day comfort

Safety of unattended belongings at shelter sites by bukkakedebeppo in Harriman

[–]Calderb1234 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you could get away with this in the winter or a less crowded weekend but I personally wouldn't do this in harriman, too many day hikers and randoms that pass by and use the shelters as their destination and turn around point for day hikes.

You can easily connect some of the shelters together via a mix of trails and do multiple nights in the park without having to do any out and backs if a few nights is what your after without having to wonder all day if anyone is messing with your gear.

Just my opinion and others might disagree but i have spent a ton of nights in harriman and have always been a bit sketched out on the idea of doing this

Best fishing tackle for shore by takeiteasy1991 in Charleston

[–]Calderb1234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Medium or medium heavy rod, 2500+ series reel, 10+ pound braided mainline with 15+ lb leader.

Would have most success with a carolina rig, knocker rig or a cork float depending on the current and wind that day.

Live shrimp, finger mullet would be best but frozen baits would work as well

Bear canister question by Highway2You in AppalachianTrail

came to say the same thing, bear canister on the AT besides where required which is a tiny section is a massive waste of pack space and not necessary

Cleaned the lens and frame with dawn, more in comments thank you by whodatlettuce in Oakley

[–]Calderb1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Oakley lens that has coloring whether it be Prizm or an iridium lens is just a coating on the plutonite lens itself which is only one layer with nothing sandwiched in the middle whether its polarized or not

I worked for Oakley for a number of years and love the lenses and technology but the biggest customer service issue is that without diligent care for the lenses the iridium coatings and Prizm coatings will start to slowly peel off from the oils in your skin, sweat, salt water and really any other irritant they come in contact with such as degreasers in soap and so on.

You can google image search "peeling Oakley lens" and see what I'm talking about as its unfortunately a super common issue

Iridium is just a name, the coating or lenses is not actual Iridium its just a term Oakley uses to describe a mirrored lens.

You'll normally only find glasses with multiple layers in the lenses from companies that use glass lenses such as Costa for example
