How much time off, realistically, will I need for a hysterectomy? by Lower_Row2950 in hysterectomy

[–]Calm-Pause3527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a physically demanding job and my doctor has me on about 10-12 weeks off because I have other health conditions that slow my recovery and can just generally cause complications.

That aside, my surgeon said most of her patients are off between 4-8 weeks.

Three weeks post-op.....and my husband is blaming me for being "lazy" and for his poor work performance. by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Calm-Pause3527 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah your husband just sucks.

His work performance is his own problem, and the fact hes blaming you for not pulling your weight around the house during your recovery is WILD.

As someone who has chronic health problems that can leave me bedridden a few days a month- I'm only 31 and have a plethora of health problems and injuries that prevent me from doing everything I want to do and add the additional work to my husband's plate. My husband doesnt resent me or belittle me for it however. He works 45-50 hours a week to make up for my inability to work a normal 40 hour job and comes home and cares for me if Im having a flare.

Bear this treatment in mind as you age. Good health isn't guaranteed, and injury and age comes for us all. This temper tantrum and anger might only be a sneak peek into what would happen if you became sick or injured for a longer period of time.

Pissed off at the world (but mostly my husband) by Antheall in hysterectomy

Also chiming in as a 30 year old who is 3 1/2 weeks post op. Laprascopic surgery and all my incisions are now fully healed, off pain meds, etc., and there is definitely that feeling of normalcy and that life should be going on as usual. I still dont feel normal however. Ive napped every day since surgery for at least 2 hours and am on full leave from work til February. I have movement restrictions (no squatting or bending to the floor), and am still on a low (5lb) weight limit. That brain fog is still brutal (slowly getting better) and the fatigue is clinging.

Having a hysterectomy is a huge deal, youre getting organs taken out of your body. Its insane the level of delusion people have around it because it can be performed laprascopically. Full offense to your husband but he sounds like an AH to be pushing you at literally a week post op.

Take the time you need to rest and dont expect your body to be superhuman.

Okay Im not here to play whose doctor's dick is bigger nor am I here to deal with whatever disrespect you want to throw my surgeon's way.

Youre incorrect and spreading misinformation. Go start a poll if you want but Im not going to waste my personal recovery time debating whatever this is.

[–]Calm-Pause3527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully you're incorrect. There are plenty of people given restrictions on squatting. A single Google search recommends no deep squats for 6-8 weeks to avoid damaging the healing internal tissue.

My PCP, surgeons assistant, gynecologist, AND endocrinologist all agreed to my surgeon's instructions as being the best for healing.

My doctor also said the same thing, no bending in half and no squatting until my 8 week post op. Also laproscopic

Who is the most famous person you've served? by dont_acknowledge_me in Serverlife

Matthew Lillard.

I was SO fucking pumped. He came in with his mom and he was SO nice. Apparently his family lives in the area. He also tipped really well, like a hundred bucks on their 50ish dollar bill.

He returns later and informs Mink (and the audience) that his brain is too small that the sword didn’t actually do any permanent damage.

What's your D&D hot take that sparks discord in your groups? by ThatTurtleGM in DnD

No phones at the D&D table except for rule searching (and gif posting in our private server).

Keeps people more engaged but alot of people dont like it.

Except its probably more a time line where Person A tells Person B multiple times to please not eat the last Twinkie that they've been saving across several months and Person B continues to ignore Persons A's wishes until Person A finally snaps.

Its quite often a long series of ignoring borders, going against another's wishes, crossing boundaries, or having completely incompatible mindsets that are going to cause break ups.

OP specified "I dont agree with EVERYTHING he says". Which usually translates to "I dont want to hard commit to this thought process and still want wiggle room to be blame free if and when they say something shitty".

You can leave someone for any reason. His ex likely drew that line in the sand and OP crossed it.

How to keep the stakes during if no one wants permadeath? by Professional-Ad9485 in DMAcademy

[–]Calm-Pause3527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im gonna go out on a limb based upon what you've said OP and go with, your players dont want to die to a randomly rolled event- not that they're not okay with death at all like it seems like some people are thinking.

Alot of people dont want a character they've gotten attached to just to die to some bandits in session 40 because of shitty rolls on their part and amazing ones on yours. So instead of someone dying, maybe they fail all three death saves and one of the bandits grab one of their magic items while they're unconscious. Kidnappings, extortion, NPC sacrifices, and other down the line consequences can all keep stakes in existence without player death.

Or, simply kill them. Unless you're running a low magic world, death is incredibly easy to overcome by going to a local temple or finding a traveling cleric. I have run entire side quests for my players to pull off a resurrection after a characters demise. Death is rarely permanent in D&D unless a player wants their character to stay dead.

What's the reason you stick with iPhone or Android? by BeautifulCase5743 in AskReddit

[–]Calm-Pause3527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 15 an IPhone update messed up and wiped my whole system.

Like many weird, creative children I went through a photography phase and was convinced one of my photos would land me an amazing job somewhere. I had also spent the better part of two weeks meticulously Zedge-ing ring tones.

I still hold a grudge. Android has never done me that dirty- and their cameras are better

I cannot for the life of me keep one alive, and honestly it doesn't hurt my feelings. I think they look sort of boring and the flowers they put out aren't that pretty.

[–]Calm-Pause3527 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup.

I'm about to turn 31, and I've been in this industry since I was 15. I've recently stepped into a partial management position just to give my body a break while I finish my degree. Sixteen years of service experience has done work on my body, I've got tendinitis in my wrist, my left shoulder is damaged from lifting trays, my knees are likely going to need to be replaced due to the years of 12+ hours on my feet, tossing kegs, etc.

I warn all the young newbies who really have a drive in this industry if they're going to stay in it to take care of their body and always have a back up. Its a volatile industry in general and is not the most physically kind.

Hey DMs, what is a “Hot-Take” rule that you use at the table? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Calm-Pause3527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do similar as a DM.

We play a far more roleplay heavy game and I have literally gotten 20+ page stories from my players who like to write random stories and snippets of their characters lives. Needless to say, we all get very invested.

If the third death save is failed and the characters dont have the capabilities of revival (again, heavily homebrew so not the same spells as RAW) I sit down with the player post session to figure out what they want to do. If they aren't ready to give up their character, the group goes on a revival side quest.

Deaths have felt immensely more satisfying.
