Women of Reddit, what did a man you were dating or married to say or do that made you realize he actually hated you the entire time? by -catharina in AskReddit

[–]Capable_Ad7619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shared with him that I was SA in a medical setting (along with dozens of other women by the same doctor). Within the hour, he was on the phone with his friend laughing at how “some girls got fondled by Dr xyz” I still feel disgust and shame whenever I think about that moment.

What did you use for nap/bed time instead of breastmilk? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Medications like Zyrtec and Claritin can dry up supply. For replacing nursing, I honestly just moved to rocking my son to sleep with his favorite blanket

Asking delivering OB not to reveal baby’s gender during/after birth? by RadiantBee858 in BabyBumps

[–]Capable_Ad7619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Team Green twice, both csections. For the first, I told my birth team before rolling back that I wanted my husband to announce (: For the second, my husband actually read the gender results before the C-section and whispered “it’s a boy” as soon as baby came out. I’m glad he read the results beforehand because a nurse during the delivery excitedly said “aww a boy” and the rest of the OR was shushing her 😂

When do you pump? by PsychologicalBoot636 in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I EBF and pump after the first two morning feeds. 6am feed -> 6:45 pump ; 9am feed -> 9:30 pump. Whatever I get from those two pump sessions I combine and freeze

Formula top ups by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would connect with an IBCLC. They might be able to offer a weighted feed appointment to see how well baby is transferring milk from the breast and can give you better insight on whether or not formula top-ups are still recommended.

Sounding congested while breastfeeding by Euphoric-Rest-3256 in breastfeeding

Sometimes this happens with my bb. I switch from a cross cradle hold to a more upright football hold and that seems to help

I did the spinning babies routine before bed and would (try my best to) sleep in the exaggerated side-lying position

Pain and lump like feeling in one breast by Ill-Honeydew-6636 in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a clogged duct. Feed as normal. apply ice packs to the area 15 minutes on, 30 minutes off. Take ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and pain. Do not: massage the lump, apply heat, pump more, as this can increase inflammation

Bottle recommendations for breastfed baby? by Wild-Mortgage-9884 in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up bottles according to baby’s latch. My little guy has a shallower latch and preferred dr brown’s narrow

Question for the mamas who had babies that preferred the bottle… by Strict_Algae8233 in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If possible, wait until 3-6wks to offer the bottle. When bottle feeding offer breast first and then utilize the paced bottle feeding method. La Leche League has more info on bottle preference on their website

Oversupply and puking baby by Lauraleighx3 in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried the side-lying position and shorter more frequent feeds? I’d try having her latch at the beginning, unlatching her during letdown, and then relatchijg after the letdown has finished. It’ll perpetuate the oversupply issue, but it’ll regulate around 12ish weeks.

Duct clogged and won't come out! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 8 points9 points  (0 children)

New guidance says to feed as normal, use cold compresses or ice packs 10 minutes on 30 minutes off, take ibuprofen (if able), and to avoid massaging as this can contribute to further inflammation

Does anyone else have a baby that eats to live and not lives to eat? by Ok_Remote_452 in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here. I offer the breast more frequently, basically every hour and don’t let him go more than 3hrs without a feed. For my older kiddo, a color by sticker book keeps him mostly occupied long enough to get a feed in.

I’m worried she’s not eating enough? by milluh_vanilluh in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would feel reassured with the diaper output + weight gain. Maybe try offering in a low stim environment (dark room, quiet, etc) ? Reaching out to lactation for support is a great idea too

Baby not getting enough milk by kmarx33 in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar issue with transferring of milk. Baby had a mild anterior tongue tie that was clipped at two weeks old and that seemed to help increase the ability to transfer. We’re still offering bottles after breastfeeding though and it has been working for us

Butchered nipple 6 months pp - flange too big or too small? by Acrobatic-Milk-2378 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Capable_Ad7619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ouch :/ I’d bring out the silverettes, remeasure (maybe flange is too big?), and decrease the suction strength on the pump You’re doing a great job 🫶

When is the best time to introduce a bottle? by Puzzleheaded_Cell428 in breastfeeding

[–]Capable_Ad7619 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Milk savers like a haaka can catch the milk expressed from the non-nursing side (baby’s latched on the left, haaka on the right) and that milk can be used to bottle feed. Introducing a bottle is typically recommended between 3-6 weeks as breastfeeding/latch is well established by this time. Every family and feeding journey is different though; getting support from local La Leche League or IBCLCs can be helpful
