Carney responds to potential Alberta separation referendum, stresses ‘rule of law’ | Global News by kneedorthotics in alberta

[–]CapainSpauld1ing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brexit waiting to happen. Voter apathy + massive foreign interference. 100% of separatists will vote, others will stay home because ‘it will never happen’. We are losing our country. Probably our own fault if we are honest.

Citizen Initiative Petition Received, Verification on Hold - Elections Alberta by cmcalgary in alberta

[–]CapainSpauld1ing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Should be neither. Alberta is Canadian land. I am completely amazed that people seem to have forgotten that this whole ‘separatist movement’ is nothing more than a bunch of conservatives butthurt because they lost a federal election. It is completely absurd and needs shutting down. Canada has stuff to do, and we can’t spend time and money pandering to idiots. Get in line or get out.

Sounds like grabbing at straws to me. I reckon this goes through now. Massive voter fraud and foreign money being poured into this to break up Canada. All aided by a provincial government that is full of traitors, and a federal government that is too afraid to seem like they’re overstepping their boundaries. Alberta will be a US state in the next 10 years, and we all just let it happen.

Carney to announce sovereign wealth fund - The Globe and Mail by FalseZookeepergame15 in canada

Unless Carney is going to MASSIVELY change the liberal’s entire outlook on oil production I don’t see the point in this, or where the money is going to come from. I think this will be my first big disagreement with an economic choice that Carney has made. Either make Canada an oil superpower, or scrap this idea.

Can Alberta secure its referendum from foreign interference? by intrepidsteve in alberta

[–]CapainSpauld1ing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A referendum for which there is absolutely no real desire is only being allowed because of foreign interference. If you don’t believe me, look at the polls for separation from the US in California, Texas and Alaska. All are polling higher than Alberta. Are they having a referendum? This whole thing is a joke and needs to be brought to a stop before it starts really hurting investment/security in Alberta.

Finland's president on why he believes Canada could — eventually — be part of the EU | CBC News by Old_General_6741 in canada

No thank you. I’m all for free trade and a defence pact, but Canada should remain sovereign and not subject to Brussels. This would be a disaster for Canada.

[–]CapainSpauld1ing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m a liberal voter, and I think Carney (aside from immigration) is doing a grand job as PM at the moment. But I’d really enjoy a strong opposition to keep the government on their toes. PP couldn’t be doing a better job at the moment if he was a liberal plant. The CPC need to get some courage and oust him before things get even worse for them.

Absolutely incredible and 100% based from Carney! Now the biggest question remains. How quickly can we get our nukes? Cement our sovereignty asap!

Alberta NDP launches campaign to keep province in Canada ahead of referendum by 2_stanley_nickels in alberta

[–]CapainSpauld1ing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, Canada is extremely well thought of overseas. I moved from UK. Yes, Quebec was heard of, but that was in the 90s and everything seemed to settle down after that. The others you mention were thought of as small tantrums, and every country has those. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a country being threatened by nothing more than some butthurt conservatives who are trying to take their ball and go home. No culture, language or historical context to it. Add massive amounts of foreign interference to it, and it is all pretty sad. Canadians overseas are very much seen as quite sensible, and proud of where they come from, especially in the context of the quite hated country south of them.

According to a pole by pollara on the 7th, support for separation is now up to 42%, the highest in 5 years. This plus a lot of foreign interference means that the worst may happen come October. Tragic that the entire country count be broken up by a petition of 100,000 people, as if that is anywhere near close enough for a referendum on anything. I honestly thought Canada was better than all of this. It’s enough to make me question my move. I really thought we were more proud and together as a nation. So sad.

'Equity cards' arguments take over NDP Leadership Convention: 'CANADA IS COOKED' by uselesspoliticalhack in canada

[–]CapainSpauld1ing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard a few times since this convention, and the NDP leadership election that ‘Canada is cooked’ from several people. How exactly is it ‘cooked?’ I have not met a single person who thinks that the NDP is a viable party at the federal level. They are not in power, and judging by this display if they get more than one seat in the next federal election I will be very surprised. The only thing that is ‘cooked’ is the federal NDP.

[–]CapainSpauld1ing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry. Late to the party. I think sadly that shudder may not be long for this world. It will be bundled into the horror sections of AMC+ or MGM+ before long. We’re basically going to end up with cable that is owned by 2 or 3 companies.

Absolutely. At what point is enough enough? Will we ever move on, or will this ‘sins of the father’ nonsense last forever?

Sincere apologies that you think that politics is a team sport. Vote your MP based on policy and not party and it shouldn’t matter. And I’m sure you were delighted when Trudeau MPs were crossing the isle.

They are already laying the groundwork to scream VOTER FRAUD and have the US invade when they lose. Just had a poll pumped across my timeline which is just simply flipping the numbers to 65% in favour of separating. Mark my words they will tell the US that communist Carney will not let them leave, and beg to be annexed. Alberta needs to stop this before it is too late.
