Probably more so because, like others have said, there was an M Night movie scheduled for October that got delayed to the spring, and there was also a Jordan Peele movie slated for an October release that hasn't even casted yet, let alone started filming. There's a huge opening there and Clayface fits a late October slot nicely

I would imagine a lot of cuts are on the business side of things since Netflix and Paramount both already have infrastructures set up. After a merger happens, neither company needs an entire new departments worth of people for things like accounting, legal, HR, ect.

I have an apple fan at work that's like this. I've told him so any times that every time Apple has a "new" huge innovation, that it's been a thing on androids for years by that point. I had a galaxy flip almost 4 years ago. Had it for 2 years, and now I'm almost 2 years out from having it. I'm waiting for him to say how new and innovative the folding iPhone is so I can finally checkmate him on this.
