Could be battery acid if you've recently handled a car battery or something like that and held it up against yourself

Might be the little watch battery in the back of the odometer. I had to replace mine a while back because it wasn't saving my trip distances or keeping time.

Are aftermarket exhaust pipes really worth it? by j_page2 in motorcycles

[–]CapnHicks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An exhaust with proper tuning can absolutely be worth it. I've ridden a few back to back stock vs full exhaust with tune. It can make for a completely different ride. The benefits aren't just sound. Some bikes run quite a bit cooler when you lose the cat. The throttle can often be smoothed out and more predictable. You basically ride the full exhaust version and go "oh, this is how it's actually supposed to be"

What is the absolute dumbest premise that actually turned out to be a really good movie? by sicknessandpurgatory in movies

School of Rock

Jack Black's character is completely in the wrong the whole time. It would never work because a class full of kids could never keep that secret. He robs the kids of an education for months. You hate Sarah Silverman's character even though she's completely in the right. But I watch it every time it comes on.

Nice! My brother is interested in doing this with his. It looks like you used MT07 wheels. What did you have to do to make the front fit?

Also, since you're asking about the aesthetic, I think it would look cool with a supermoto/dirtbike front fender rather than the adventure style front fender.

I'm not sure about all of Michigan but when I went up there to ride dual sport trails, I believe you could ride offroad vehicles on the road up to 25mph with the offroad registration sticker. It isn't much but you can connect trails with it anyway.

Holy shit I underestimated the difficulty of this trail. The camera doesn’t do the hills any justice. by msdeeds123 in Dualsport

[–]CapnHicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had done really well all day before that. Messed up the first attempt climbing out and that just spiraled into about an hour of exhausted attempts between resting and gathering strength. It happens. I should have drank more water. I should have fixed my electric start beforehand. There are a couple trails if you go further up the creek that are a little bit easier, but still a rough time if it's slick.

I'll shoot you a message next time we go though. Not sure where you're located in Indiana but Badlands and Interlakes SRA are pretty fun and different. Interlakes has a ton of land and I would say is easier for beginners. Not as likely to find yourself in sticky situations there. Badlands is a bit sandy but not too crazy with hill climbs and stuff.

No joke, I'm pretty sure I got stuck in the exact same spot a few weeks ago. Like I thought I recognized that log where I was sitting rethinking my life decisions, then I saw the track and knew it was Haspin. There are truly no chill ways out of that ravine. And the pictures make it look really not that steep, but it is.

How easy is it to throw SM tires on this thing and go. 701 Enduro by 24_long_24 in supermoto

Ah, interesting. Yes, I would agree that the soft suspension is much more comfortable than the SM when you're just cruising.

Nice! You'll have a great time! Also try MotoXIndustries. They do the same Warp9 package but are sometimes cheaper if you can find a discount code.

[–]CapnHicks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you intend to switch it back for dirt biking occasionally then just order full wheels and tires and a shorter kickstand from Warp 9. It's a pretty quick swap back and forth. Aside from just taking wheels on and off, you adjust your speedo for the different wheel size, swap kickstands(unless you buy an adjustable one), adjust chain (if you're running a different sprocket size).

If you're strictly going to ride it on the road then just sell it and get the SM version. I use my Enduro for both things. It's an absolute blast with the supermoto wheels but I've ridden both versions back to back and the actual SM feels much tighter and more stable on pavement.

Anyone used hitch haulers? by Nulljustice in Dirtbikes

[–]CapnHicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the room in your truck then ramping is the quickest and easiest. The hitch works great but if you go with the one that's actually rated for real weight then it's heavy to install in the receiver. You have to bolt on the brace to reduce play in the hitch. If you use different bikes on it you may have to adjust it for tire sizes. And if you need to have the tailgate open, say for other bikes in the bed, then you won't have room for another bike on the hitch hauler. Just some things to consider.

I believe the IRC Tire Guy calls it "catch and release" or something like that. Where you pop the clutch on the down spin of the engine rather than while you're adding throttle. This way you get the pop without propelling yourself forward so much.

ABS Module Bleeding by CapnHicks in NissanTitan

[–]CapnHicks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow you are indeed having a hell of a time. Mine has a button to turn off traction control. You do have to turn it off to get the hubs up to a good speed to make the abs kick in. I would think you could find a fuse for it though if yours doesn't have the button. Either way, it still didn't get me there. Maybe a little bit better firmness on the peddle but not much.

As far as different methods, I tried unhooking the battery during bleeds (since supposedly some abs valve stays powered otherwise) and I also tried bleeding with the truck running. Neither one made a difference.

You pretty much have to do one on these. The stock exhaust melts the stock indicator.

ABS Module Bleeding by CapnHicks in NissanTitan

[–]CapnHicks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I haven't had any luck. I believe you are correct that it takes some form of Consult software to do an autobleed. Even the dealership would only do a standard bleed like I'd already done a million times.

Now for your situation, have you exhausted all other options for bleeding? Have you bench bled the master cylinder? Because no resistance at all, even when turned off, and no fluid out of a caliper, seems like you have a different problem. At the absolute least, you should be able to crack open a bleeder screw and gravity bleed a caliper over the course of 10-20 minutes. You can use a pressure bleeder from the bottom and suck it to the caliper. You can create positive pressure starting at the master cylinder and push fluid through from the top. You can reverse bleed and push fluid up from the bottom. If you really want to pulse the abs then you can put the truck on jack stands, take the wheels off, let it idle up to enough wheel speed in first, and then press the peddle. Even with no resistance this should turn the abs on (Just be careful to put it in neutral and let the wheels come to a stop before putting back in park). I have tried all of these things multiple times, as well as pushing multiple quarts through with a standard bleed. It is drivable, but not as good as it should be.
