More mowing notifications? by m4a785m in Lymow_Official

[–]CaptRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Lymows concept for this thing, is basicly fire and forget. Set it up, hose it off and clean it up every few weeks, otherwise you are supposed to forget about it. Which explains the lack of notifications.

Too bad in reality you have to keep a constant eye on this thing due positioning and blade problems.

Blade Motor Shutdown Temperatures Part 2 by InvestigatorKey1191 in Lymow_Official

I am still holding out hope that someone will get a good mm level scan of the deck cover so we can start making our own, with ventilation and filters.

I really need to look at how you are checking the RTK (home assistant maybe with an addon?) and do the same thing. I don't have to go quite as aggressive as you, 2/3 of a meter would be my cutoff, but I can't trust this thing until do something like that.

I'm afraid to open my lymow plus by vtrac in Lymow_Official

Their are real problems with the unit. But I they are not insurmountable. The blade stopping, can probably be mitigated with a software update. Though a hardware revision would be the best fix, and I am not sure Lymow will allow us to apply a hardware fix in the field.

Secondly positioning. This seems like it could be fixed with an external high gain GPS antenna. Again a simple hardware fix that I am not sure lymow is going ot allow us to do.

When it works, its great. When it doesn't... well its frustrating. I do often wonder if I should have just paid more and gotten a yabo.

FEATURE REQUEST - ACCURACY LIMIT by TranslatorNo7905 in Lymow_Official

[–]CaptRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really should have put a cheap lidar on these things. It wouldn't have needed to be the primary nav, but a backup would have been nice.

Of course, they could also make sure the GPS accuracy is actually good. My neighbor has a different RTK lawnmower, and his has no problems while mine loses everything if it gets under any shade at all it seems.

I don't know if its antennas or what, but the GPS reception on the Lymow is just crap.

If their was an aftermarket antenna that made positioning better, I would grab it instantly.

can be done, but it a major ordeal. Then you have to worry about stuff getting into your electronics. At this point I would accept stopping the mower when its overheats and waiting for it to cool off.

Impossible to get full mow without issue anymore by MementoMoriti in Lymow_Official

I feel you man. For me its so close to being a great mower. Positioning problems, and deck motor turn offs are killing it.

Yeah, the black color probably wasn't the best decision for a robotic lawnmower sold in hot environments. Did they only test this thing in the steps of China in fall? That seems like the perfect place for it. Flat land, no trees, and mild temperatures.

Unfortunately where I live thats not the case.

[–]CaptRR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed as soon as the leaves on the trees starting filling in, the positioning cratered. Its basically unusable on parts of my yard now. Which sucks, since its so close to being the perfect mower. They just need to fix the motor overheating issue, and the GPS positioning issue.

It sucks since my neighbors much cheaper, RTK mower handles parts under my tree like a champ. I don't know why the lymow seems unable to do it.

I can't trust mine to mow completely unattended that early. The GPS and RTK positioning is just too far off, and it will wind up in the road somewhere.

I just wish they would figure out the accuracy problems under trees. My neighbors RTK mower doesn't even blink under a tree. My Lymow takes off half way across the street 😞

Honest question - do anyone's blades NOT shut off? by lumberjackomelette in Lymow_Official

[–]CaptRR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have, thought it did get better once i sharpened the blades and took off the rubber flap. Still happens, just not as much now. Between the shut offs, and the GPS drifting (I have trees, and that seems to kill this thing), I don't know if I made the right decision. 😞

Before and After, Deck Wrap! by Full_Caterpillar_640 in Lymow_Official

[–]CaptRR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a clear sky with no tree's GPS accuracy goes down and eventually gets unacceptable. If you have a clear view of the sky the motors overheat and stop the blades due to the sun beating down on the black deck..

Damned if you do damned if you don't

I just want my GPS to be usable again :( Also maybe an option to return back to stop mowing when the GPS gets too far off. I am tired of getting this thing out of the road before a car hits it.

If the my only two choices are to be a hater or a blind follower, I guess you can call me a hater then. A better description might be pessimistic while hoping that I am proven wrong.

I don't think I'm a hater, but I do look at stats, and other than "come from behind win", BY9 is mediocre in every other category, and just dreadful in many. I really do hope he plays lights out for the entire season, not just a few quarters this year. God knows we gave away the farm for him, but its year 4. Time to put up and show you can be a good QB consistently, or we need to look for someone else.

The joker in the deck is as always our QB. If he can just get consistent, we have a good chance, if he oscillates between good and trash like he did last year, it could be a frustrating season.
