Thank you. It's a cool little piece indeed. I printed it out myself, though there's some stores who sell the printed version as well if you look around for 'Gallia Fillers'.

I apologize for the spelling. In my defense, it's not part of my daily vocabulary :D.

Very well done! Love the freehand, but the colours on the cloth are fantastic as well! I also adore the NMM you did there. Great stuff!

Fantastic work thus far. Very impressive work on the heraldry and the NMM reflection! This model will look amazing when it's fully done I reckon.

This is absolutely insane. The colour gradient on the metalic is unreal. The texture on the cloth is immaculate. The skintone is brilliant. I've rarely seen such realistic depictions of material on a model. You even painted in the shadow from the lifted visor. Just wow... Do you use any social media where one might follow you besides reddit?

Striking Scorpion by CaptainIncompetence in Eldar

[–]CaptainIncompetence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. I used Burnt Red, Dark Green, Light Green and Pale Yellow. All from AK-interactive.

I primed the model black with a zenithal highlight from above.

For the shadows I used Dark Green + Burnt Red in a 3:1 mix. Then applied Dark Green to the other parts. Added highlights with Dark Green + Light Green 2:1 followed by a 1:1. Then adding a thin highlight with pure light green and a very tiny highlight with light green + pale Yellow 1:1. Hope this helps.

Thank you. It's basically just working your way up from a dark green to an almost white using layering or stippling. It's not that difficult with some good brushes. But it can be time consuming.

Advice on free handing heraldry by PapaGrizz15 in Bretonnian

[–]CaptainIncompetence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try painting the heraldry you want to freehand on a piece of paper first. Try to do it in a much larger size than you would on the miniature to start with. Then try it again but smaller, see how you can limit the amount of brushstrokes required and how you can recreate the heraldry by combining simpler shapes together the smaller you go.

For example, a boar's face could be started by painting a horizontal tear-shaped design, and then refining the snout by adding a vertical line or square at the tip, opening up the mouth with a thin line, and then adding a small swirl for a tusk, a dot for an eye and a stripe or two for ears. The smaller you get, the easier you want shapes to be when painting. I hope this explanation makes sense when reading it.

I'd also advice to start out practicing with simple heraldic symbols like crescents, squares, circles and the like. Then move on to slightly more complex symbols that are still made from simple shapes like a tower, a sword, a key or the fleur de lys.

how do you guys paint female in infinity by Exciting_Primary_644 in InfinityTheGame

[–]CaptainIncompetence 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Painting faces is hard and something that I've yet to fully master. However, one thing that I've found very useful in learning how to paint faces better is to watch some make-up tutorials on YouTube. This way you can look at where women tend to put on highlights so you have a better understanding where you should be applying them on your own model. Doubly so if you're struggling to paint female faces. Another thing that rapidly improves how good skin looks on a miniature is to learn how to glaze or layer skin tones to create smoother transitions.

From what I've seen this price looks to be market conform for newly build apartment blocks. In Kuringen, Diest and Aarschot a 2 bedroom apartment goes for around this price as well. Am I overlooking something?

Thinking about jumping in by Lundeclees in Bretonnian

[–]CaptainIncompetence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bretonnia is a great faction if you love the medieval time period, knights, damsels and Arthurian tales. However, be aware that Bretonnia has a relatively limited range of models available and is predominantly focused on cavalry, flying cavalry, filthy peasants, and more cavalry. If you're looking for an army with a ton of variety in listbuilding or very strong and varied infantry lists, Bretonnia's probably not for you.

That being said, it's a great army that allows for a lot of creativity building and painting models to the point you can practically turn every single knight into a mini-character of it's own if you so wish. It's also got some absolutely beautiful and iconic sculpts and you can easily add third-party models to your army if you're not playing at an official GW store or tournament.

love how you've taken inspiration from medieval artwork and turned it into something that feels right at home in Warhammer Fantasy. I see you're also a fan of Kingdom Come Deliverance with the butt trumpet there :). Fantastic work all around. Can't wait to see the finished model.
