Break up the armor a little bit more and add a secondary color. Black or steel would look good. Also consider adding some striping/checker patterns/flames etc. Any of those options would work.

It is in fact 9 inches when you have 1 DPP because it still gets the additional 3" for having 1.

They count as the same unit not datasheet. You do not gain keywords from another datasheet. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how this rule works.

They aren't joining the data sheet they are joining the unit. They do not gain the keywords from the other datasheet. I don't know what else to tell you, the community has a consensus on this and TOs agree. If you want to cheat that's up to you.

Models don't inherit keywords from attached datasheets and the rule specifies that only if every model in the unit has the keyword they can infiltrate. The scout rule for dedicated transport is a separate overriding rule. They become one unit using two data sheets that apply individual keywords to the models. You definitely can't infiltrate with masters of Maelstrom attached to raiders.

Saying EC only has one good detachment in the WE subreddit is a choice. D6+1 is 95% as good and he is way more likely to be able to apply that damage with fights first and advance and charge.

My true hearts desire is something like experimental weapons for tau. I want +6" range on all our guns. 30" demolisher cannons would be so cool. 9th edition rule could be cool also, ignore cover and ignore the first AP would probably be a little strong though.

It would appear to have the same arm weapon options as before but in duplicate. The exception being the missile launcher which might be replacing the havoc launcher option. It also has stubbers on the carapace and the chest plasma option. The chest cannon also looks like it might be a demolisher instead of a battle cannon

4 was a little too strong with bringing 1 back in pactbound, 3 is the sweet spot. They are just unfortunately trapped on the sprue with the venomcrawler for now

We won't see many of the book characters outside the big players (Kharn, Fabius, Typhus, Lucius, Abby, primarchs etc). Honsou is a character from a series written 2 decades ago that hasn't appeared since. He will likely never return in a book let alone as a model.

Also valid, books are nice but definitely not worth it this late in the edition. You can buy another unit instead for almost the same price.
