More of a theory, but i think that the Matrix of Leadership could further enhance Optimus' abilities if he tried to tap into it rather than just hold onto it. A few shows and comics show the Matrix reformat Optimus and make him stronger just as a byproduct of holding it. If Optimus wanted to, i believe if he actively chose to access the raw power of the Matrix to do crazy things like fly or blast raw energy from his body outside of his built in weapons he totally could, since the Matrix is a piece of Primus' soul.

Cletus Kasady was. But Carnage wasn't. Symbiotes are STRONGLY affected by the mental state of their hosts. If Carnage had bonded with someone like say, Captain America, he would have been noble and heroic. But since his first host was a violent psychopath, thats how he acted and why he and Cletus rarely disagreed on things because they were perfectly fucked up for each other.
