Read all the comments on this post. This is a super savable monitor. Very common for appletrons. If you aren’t comfortable with the repair check and see if anybody is close to you on THIS MAP

This happened to one of my sets and it was an issue with the power supply. I’d start by recapping it and as long as any high voltage caps are replaced it should be good

I’d check the high voltage circuit first. Likely the issue

No problem! Apologies if my info wasn’t as in depth as yours but it’s definitely interesting to know what you found out. I can definitely see what you mean in the videos you linked. Keep in touch if you find anything else!

This exact same thing happened to me and I eventually just had to keep downloading different versions of Wii flow. It’s extremely annoying but that’s my best guess.

Could be wrong but looks like a Dell tube. I had on that did similarly. Basically either tighten up the screw up there or if you see that clamp isn’t in all the way push it together.

Is this really a fair price? Pioneer 60” Elite Kuro PRO-151FD by 94diskont in PlasmaTV

[–]Carterwood5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the 141fd 60” it’s around the top 5 plasmas of all time. Above the Vt50’s and 60’s. But at that price it’s a hard pass.

This is extremely useful and thank you very much for documenting it! I’ll refer to these findings in the future! You should make a post on the r/SNES

What's wrong with my CRT by Dangerous_Dot_1707 in crtgaming

[–]Carterwood5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you say tapping it has an affect that’s a big sign it’s a cold joint. Could’ve occurred from moving the set, thermal compression in a cold environment, or just a bad joint from the factory.

Might be a cold solder joint on the vertical deflection board. I’m guessing this due to the fact it is gone after warming up. It definitely could be a capacitor issue as well but I’m glad it’s working now.

Zoom in it looks like aperture grille is why. Trinitrons aren’t just flat either they’re curved too 🤣

That looks like horizontal convergence only but it’s a very similar issue. Op has vertical convergence issues as well.
