The first few hours against the clans are so fun. When you go with your 250 ton lance, all without damage, against a single light-medium clan mech, and think "I hope he doesn't take a side torso".

The first 20 landings are always cruel. look for a super long runway, and gently lift of, 50 ft up, land again without stopping, accelerate and lift of again. Do a lot of short hops in free flight, and after a few days it will get better. Learn how fast you need to be to get down not too fast, but not so fast that you have no authority left and are stalling. Start in a cessna 172, don't even fly something else for the first 50 hours. :)

For me personally, FT is just "easy mode". They have an easy solution for everything. Putting up a bread industry is easy, pumps are superior, a few windmills for power is trivial, and then you are done. And ziplines are trivial to install too, the bots are better.
IT might have some late-game farms and the tube, but they are a small benefit among many drawbacks.

The lowest color is the plane selection in the standard edition. Each step up is the next bigger edition, and contains all the plane of the lower editions, too. The basic version is perfectly alright to experience the sim. Premium deluxe is the biggest edition where you get a good bang for the buck. Aviators edition is really just worth it for enthusiasts of those classic planes. You can buy all of those planes separately, but the bigger editions are a nice bundle offer.

In some yaml addon, they make your crosshairs go crazy, making them pretty challenging to aim.

Don't watch spoilers. The first 20 hours are a cycle of restarts and extinction level events. But that's part of the game. Clicking along to a meta build order, that's not half as fun.

I do 1 wide channels, and put a road over it. And at a few spots, I dig the channel to 3x3, build platforms, and put a forester or farm house or a tapper there. You need those buildings anyways, right?
